I don't understand this, why so many boys?

Not in New Jersey. I know 8 people who had babies between November '02-July '03 (when Annalisa is due) who had/are having girls. We figured there was something in the water!

I had a garage sale last weekend and every pregnant woman was having a GIRL and I had mostly Boy stuff!!!!!!

With my first pregnancy, we had a Lamaze class reunion. Out of 15 of us 14 of us had boys! Strange, huh?

I used to hang around with a pretty tight group of girlfriends when I was 15-16 years old. All of us had boys! Strange again, huh?

My poor Mom has only grandsons...no grand daughters!

Right now at the hospital though, we are having a run on girls. Last week it was like 24-4 in favor of newborn girls!

Ok, this is getting even more strange, my boss just came by and told me her daughter is having a boy too! From your posts it sounds like things go in spurts like this. I wonder why?

I'm having a boy...it's wartime...I think that's the reason for all the boys. Most of the women on my preggie board are having boys too.

My daughter is in 1st grade this year...the classes are so off balance due to the ratio of boys to girls.

There are 15 boys and 8 girls in her class. The entire 1st grade is this way...I thought that was strange.

ps There has only been 1 boy "born" into my family though...(my DS).

I swear things go in cycles around us, too. When I had Daniel 14 months ago he was the last in a series of boys for our friends...there were 4 or 5 born within 2 years. For the past 14 months....well, lets go ahead and include next month so the past 14 and future 1 month there have been/will be 6 girls born, all within our circle of friends.

So funny, isn't it? I'm hoping that we'll be on the tail end of this girl cycle! :D

I think there's something to the cycle theory. In DD11's Sunday School class, there are two poor boys and a whole gaggle of girls. In DS3's class, it's all boys with two girls that come occasionally. (WHY oh why did I agree to be the teacher for this class? Picture six two- and three-year old boys. :) There's a reason they are referred to as "bouncing baby boys." :p

We seem to be having a run on girls where I work...(2 in the last week)

In my family older sis has 3 boys, I have 3 girls and younger sis has 1 of each...so we are balanced!

Our son was born last July. And everyone we came in contact with while I was pregnant was having a boy too. :teeth:

Interesting because my oldest daughter was born in May but ultrasound told us it was a boy. Boy was everyone shocked when they did the C-sec and pulled out a girl.

I think I need to move to Missouri! :p We're ttc #2 and hoping for a boy. Although either will make us happy!!!!

NurseKim~What pregnancy board do you frequent? I'm trying to find a good one but having no luck finding one I really like. :(

I'm not NurseKim, but I visit UlimateBaby.com. It's a pay site, though. ($25 for a year.) I think it's fun -- I have three pg friends there and one who is TTC. Very informative. It's connected to OurUlimateHome, which is included in the subscription price, where it's just general chatty stuff. (Think like a giant CB.)

towncrier is correst. I took a demographics class in college There are slightly more males born than females, however, more males die at every age. Premie females are more likely to survive than males. Young males are more likely to take risks such as driving fast. Adult men have more heart attacks, etc. and old women just hang around a lot longer. We have 3 girls and 1 boy as did my inlaws. My parents had an even 2 and 2. My neighbor has 4 boys and the house next to them has 4 girls. You may notice occasional imbalances but I think overall the stats even out.

I can see this as being a factor if, say, out of 10 of my friends we had 6 boys and 4 girls. That's what the stats seem to back up. However out of 15 babies only one is a girl? That seems kind of extreme!
I guess over time it all does even out but it's still strange for it to happen all at once.
