I don't understand the meal vouchers!

I don't understand how the meal vouchers give you 15% off. Do they simply discount your bill by 15% when you pay with them? Or do you pay a discounted rate for the voucher itself ie. a voucher costs, for argument's sake, £10 but it will buy you £11.50 of food?

Also, what does this mean, from the DLRP Magic website?! "Don't despair - all Half Board Standard vouchers can be exchanged at any time for their face value when you pay at the Half Board Plus locations, and all Half Board vouchers of both values can be exchanged for face value at the extra-special dining locations listed below." Does this simply mean that I can treat my voucher as cash even if the restaurant doesn't accept vouchers?

I'm not sure what the advantage of buying vouchers is - but maybe it will save money because I'll be paying in sterling and not in Euros? Very confused about the whole thing!

Ok, I only looked into this yesterday but I'll try and help.

Basically as I understand it the vouchers will cost you £13 per person per night. This equates to 15.86 Euro's however the voucher has a face value of 18 Euro's. This is where the saving come in.

The next part means that if you want to eat at a different restuarant than those listed for the Half Board vouchers then they will deduct 18 Euros from the bill and you will pay the rest.

The idea is that it will save you a bit of money and I guess the main advantage is that you then don't have to worry about running out of money on the trip and not eating!!

I can't give you any real answers, but I go at the end of next month and thought I'd give it a try. I'm going to use some of the speciality places and see how it works for myself. I'll be sure to add this in full detail on my post trip info.

It's taken me a while to work this one out too, but we've gone ahead and booked the half board option too.

In addition to what cap'n'jack says, you also make a saving on the price of the set meals - so if you eat in The Plaza Gardens Restaurant, for example, the set buffet menu costs E20, but your half board voucher can be used to pay for the meal in full.

Here's a list of restaurants you can use the vouchers in, either paying in full with the vouchers, or exchanging them at face value and paying the difference.

We have booked the half board plus vouchers for our next trip. We've never considered this before but did this mainly because of the exchange rate and be able to pay beforehand in £ instead of €.

As someone else stated the amount you get on the voucher is slightly more than the amount you have pd and sometimes you can save even more in the restaurants as well because a drink is also inlcuded.

There are certain restaurants where the vouchers can be used to pay the full amount but if you want to eat in other places that amount is taken off your bill
eg I think the half board plus is worth €25. We are eating at Agrabah (buffet)so this will cover the full amount, Silverspur - this again will cover the full amount if we eat off the special menu or wil be worth €25 if we choose a more expensive menu and Inventions which is much more expensive but €25 each will be knocked off the bill (less for children obviously)

Yes I think you can but they are not worth as much so you dont get as much knocked off the price

i think i have this right, but u can use any of the vouchers in any of the restaurants, execpt king ludwigs, rainforest, and think theres another couple of non disney ones - planet hollywood too i think.

u can, say, use them at cafe mickeys - so ur total bill comes to 80 eur, and u have 2 half board standard vouchers (19 eur each) so u get that amount off the bill, and u just pay the rest!
