I dont understand Disneyland Execs?

Sounds like Tino's wife is planning a trip!

Not sure why you are upset with them shutting a ride down for rehab, they need some TLC. Yes, Indy is going down for a while. Not because you are planning a trip, but because the ride is in dire need of some TLC.

They do not advertise their tickets going beyond 5 days because.... well.... people bought 6 day tickets, used 3 and sold 3... You can still do it, you just have to go to the ticket booth and ask to upgrade.

I'm sorry you are having such a rough day, I hope it improves.

So funny,:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I will enlighten you with this little gem of info...For DL, they only allow purchase of 5 day PH when you purchase through WDTC or a third party.
Once you get to the parks, you can add days at the ticket booths for a minimal amount of $. Check out this thread:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2963761

I would like to enlighten you, and others who are pointing to this post as evidence that one can add days to a 5-day PH, that it's really about 50-50 odds if you are able to find a CM willing and able to add the days. If you read the thread, you'll see, we still have some successful people, but also others who are stuck with the five days. So the advice really needs to be that one should plan for five days of cramming it all in and cross your fingers that you'll be permitted to buy extra days without having to upgrade to an AP or having to buy more expensive, smaller PHs with fewer days.
The OP is perfectly accurate in what one is told by DLR and WDTC employees when you call and ask about any policies for extending a 5-day PH. Go to Legoland, go to Knott's, get an AP even though you only want two more days and live so far away you will never use it again. These are all ~suggestions I have been told personally in phone call in the past 30 days, including an offer to sell me Legoland tickets through WDTC. :worried:

You may not need the same amount of time to see DL but some of us like to spend a week or more because we can't just drop in anytime we like. It is a vacation destination and some of us don't always want to do a commando visit. That being said...I am buying an AP because I will be planning another trip the next year after we visit. So the APs are a good deal this time.

DisneyLand is making me sad before I even get there! Why do they insist on telling me that they are not a vacation destination.

They tell me you are only allowed to stay for 5 days, if you want more get a annual pass! We cater to locals. Don't like it? Go to Disney World

They tell me we do not care that you have went out of your way to visit us. We do not care it has cost you an arm and a leg to get here. We shut down rides for rehabs weeks in advance. We cater to locals! Don't like it? Go to Disney World.

Who is telling me this you ask. Disneyland is through the mouths of their employees, by the business practices they have, by the policies that they have implemented.

Actually I agree 100% with your post. It annoys me that I can't buy a parkhopper for as much as 10 days if I want. I have always wanted to plan a longer Disneyland vacation, without having to buy an annual pass to do it. Disney has started calling it's parks, Disney Parks. Pretty much telling us that the parks are equal, which of course they aren't. They have an annual pass that you can use at both Disney World, and Disneyland. They should sell parkhoppers that can be used at both Disneyland, and Disney World, and it should say so on the tickets. Or better yet, they should sell a no-expiration 10 Day Disneyland parkhopper that is comparable to the one that is sold for use at Disney World. Yes, I do realize that no-expiration WDW Parkhoppers are accepted at Disneyland. If things are equal, then why shouldn't that work in reverse?

Not everyone lives in sunny California, and Disneyland definitely is a vacation destination. I travel from Chicago, and try to vacation there at least once each year. I prefer going there over the Parks in Florida. Although, I am planning an APril trip to Florida to see the Fantasyland expansion in the Magic Kingdom. I may just take advantage of that 10 day no-expiration ticket to add days to a future Disneyland visit, since I don't believe that Disneyland will ever sell their own 10 day no-expiration parkhopper. Dollars and cents, is why Disney is in the business, and I can do the math. What works best for the customer, is not necessarily what works best for the company.

I never disputed what the OP said was inaccurate. I was advising her that people have successfully added days at the park, but the only chance she has IS AT the parks....not on the phone for pre-purchase.

Count me in as one of the many this hasn't worked for.

The one thing I don't get is why they don't turn this into a revenue-making opportunity for their hotels there. The hotels face serious competition from cheaper and equally close hotels/motels. So why not say 5 day pass for everyone else BUT if you are a DLR hotel guest (so PPH, GCH or DLH), you can go to the concierge at the end of the 5 day ticket and add days onto your ticket up to X more days equal to the duration of your hotel stay? Seriously, relatively simple and could serve to boost demand for the DLR hotels.

This exactly!!!

If they'll gladly take my money for 8 nights at one of their pricey hotels (our last 6 or so trips have been exclusively onsite for of 7-8 nights each), why not just throw me a bone and sell me tickets for those days too.

I just had a conversation with DH last night, before I even read this thread, that pretty much ended with planning not to plan any more DL trips for quite a few years (and DL is our favorite destination).:worried: Hopefully they'll figure out a better ticketing system by then.

Additionally, IF the adding of extra days doesn't work out, what do you when you're there, already at the resort, spending hundreds a night on the hotel room where you can see into the park.... you pay more.... a lot more. At this point upgrading for the extra 3 days of park tickets (to make it 8) for my family of three would be an additional $577 to upgrade them into Deluxe APs, if you're there at a time of the year without blackout dates.

This happened to us in January (before the AP prices went up) and it wasn't fun.

If the problem is people selling unused days, why don't they have the system that WDW has had for more than a decade?

This ticketing policy is kinda the straw that breaks the camels back for us right now. We love Disneyland, and we love having VACATIONS there, not short commando trips. It makes me sad that this is making us explore other options.

I imagine Disney is hearing a lot of disappointment regarding the unavailability of 6 + park hoppers. It would be nice if they could at least offer multiple days for people reserving a stay with WDTC, Costco, AAA, etc., where it is evident the park days are conducive with the length of stay at a DLRH or GNH. They should know it is unlikely these reservations would scalp their tickets during their stay.

Scalping of tickets. Just another example of how the honest people suffer because of the cheating of others.

It's not just scalping, but also "gate integrity": DLR wants to get a handle on the prices people are paying per-day of admission and/or manage crowd flow a little better. This seems pretty clear based on the large increase in AP prices to "thin the herd" and the new restrictions on the length of a single ticket.

That's just a guess, but I think it's probably a good one. After all, if scalping were *really* the problem, well there's a fix for that ready-made in orlando.

Or a length of stay pass (didn't they have these at WDW years ago?) that is only valid for your stay at the hotel, or within a small window.

I'm a WDW vet and use to LOVE the length of stay passes. We'd go for 7 to 10 nights and get length of stay passes for the entire family. (4 of us at the time) Honestly, when the length of stay passes stopped we bought a time share at Bonnette Creek right on Disney property. It's not owned by Disney and cheaper than Disney vacation club but it's just as amazing and literally on WDW property. As a matter of fact it's the only non-Disney owned time share that's right on Disney property. So now when we go to WDW Disney no longer get's our accomidations money. If they kept the length of stay passes we probably would have never looked into buying a time share, we would have stayed on property, but stopping the length of stay passes took away one of the big reasons we loved to stay on site. Yeah Disney hotels have nice Disney theming but I save 1/3rd the money which pays for our park tickets and we get a much nicer place to stay. A beautiful big full resort condo (full kitchen, pool, everything) for the price of a hotel ROOM.

ANYWAY ... I agree, they should go back to length of stay passes for people who stay on Disney property, IMO it's one of the best reasons TO STAY on Disney property and they took that reason away years ago. BAD business move IMO.

BTW I'm going to DL at the end of September ... staying in an off property Condo time share. If they had length of stay passes it could have been different and they would have gotten a bigger share of my vacation money.

OH and i'm very bummed Indy won't be open ... but i understand about the need for referbs.
