I don't think I can ever stay in a hotel room again!

I own DVC and my in-laws own Wyndham. I am currently in a deluxe one bedroom at the Wyndham resort in Panama City Beach and I have gotten spoiled with the accommodations that Wyndham and DVC offer! The room I am in right now is just huge, huge great room with very nice full kitchen, dining table, bar withs tools, sleeper sofa and lots of room left over. There is a hallway where there is a second bathroom as well as two bunk beds in an alcove. The master bedroom is comparable to a DVC in size but the master bath isn't quite as nice.

We usually stay in a one bedroom or two bedroom at DVC resorts and have stayed in a studio once when it was just DW and me. All this to say, how did we ever manage in a regular motel/hotel room?

BTW, October in Panama City Beach is AWESOME! Low-mid 80's for highs and 60's for lows with small crowds, light traffic and no waits at restaurants.

Yes that is a nice property and you are correct the Panhandle beach area is fabulous in October. We are doing Disney and the beach in October also.

I know exactly what you mean. When me and my family traveled when I was young, there were always atleast 4 of us in one hotel room. After staying at DVC (we are SSR owners btw) I won't do a hotel room ever again!

My mom thought I was nuts to buy DVC. After 3 years of staying in a 1 bedroom, we made an "extra" trip for Halloween and stayed at CBR. What did she say? "I don't like this, I like the other rooms better"!

:lmao:
That's awesome!

Its so spoiled us. We always used to stuff ourselves into one hotel room. Now even when just doing a single overnight in a normal hotel we book 2 rooms just to have space.

I dont know how we survived before

A one bedroom at OKW started us down this road (wow did we get spoiled)... we thought we would be just fine with 150 pts - staying in mostly studios- .. and we have been.. but now the boys are getting older.. and bigger.. and I forsee us adding more points very soon so we can have the necessary 1 bedrooms. Hotel rooms.. no thanks..

We always stay in a 2 bd and this summer while at Captiva we had just a room w/ a microwave/fridge and my 14 year old didn't know what to do with himself. We aren't use to watching TV or eating in just one room and we've grown to depend on the laundry room. I absolutely hate to go home with dirty laundry in my suitcase. Spoiled rotten we are! It's hard not to compare every accomodation to our DVC resorts!

I've done both over the years and TBH, as it's just DH & me, I'm very happy with the hotel room. We have loads more spending money and eat out all of the time, so I don't need a kitchen!!!!

We are completely spoiled by the DVC suites also. We sleep on a king size bed at home and prefer one on vacation as well. We get a king in the one or more bedroom suites; but the best part is at Animal Kingdom Lodge – Kidani Village.

TWO BATHROOMS!!!

Even in a one bedroom suite you get TWO BATHROOMS! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to go to the lobby restrooms because my women folk are hogging the bathroom.
:lmao:

Having a condo for a vacation is the best way to vacation. You get so much more space, plus you can cook/store food and if you need to wash your cloths, the washer and dryer are in the room. LOVE IT!
Having a condo for vacation is a must. It's so much better.

totally agree!!! Being Solo Traveler I do alot of studio... granted theres no full kitchen I still love my own kitchenette and a sofa to stretch yourself out without lying all the way down... watching tv or just basically staring att he ceiling while trying to decipher what to do next :) I love all on site resort( just dont need that extra bed sometimes) but if I can get away with points or renting or borrowing I would do it in a heart beat...

My DD hates staying in hotel rooms now.....she always wants to know where the extra space is and why do we all have to watch the same thing? :lmao:

:offtopic:

so your ticker :)

I check in at AKL Monday :)

:confused3. We've owned DVC for 6 years and have done three stays in 2bedrooms. All three trips I felt like it was a complete WASTE of space for us. In 6 nights at AKV, we had not turned on TVs in either bedroom, sat at the dining room table, or used anything other than the coffeemaker.

I did like the laundry though:rotfl2:!

Condos are just not our thing. I much much much prefer a studio or 5 star resort hotel room with daily cleaning any day!

Exception to this is a beach house......:goodvibes

You don't have to love condos to love DVC!

yeah I dont mind not having the laundry room... my pool time is my wash time :thumbsup2

For staying in one place for several days, it's definitely great to have all the features of a timeshare/condo unit. Hotels/motels are still quite handy for shorter stays (and often more practical). I, too, have said the same thing, tho -- very hard to "go back to a hotel" after a really nice 2BR TS. (Altho some hotel/motel rooms are better than some studios).

We've been timesharing it for quite some time with Disney and Marriott. These rooms have spoiled us. When we stay at a hotel for a night or two for overnights, I find myself trying to find Residence Inns and Homewood Suites to get close to those.

When our kids were young we didn't spend much time in the room so the motel rooms were just fine. Since the kids have grown (we are less than a year from being empty-nesters) we've spent more time in the room so we prefer the larger rooms with couches etc for lounging. I think my DW likes having the laundry done when we go home too!

If we take some trips with just the two of us we could handle a studio, though I may have to tell me DW that we could only get the studio because a 1 BDR wasn't available!
