I Don't Miss ...

For me, it's easy to make a list of the things that I miss throughout Disney World. I pretty much miss everything that's gone. I always thought it would be great if Disney opened up a retro park that included all the attractions and entertainment that's been replaced over the years.

The list I can't seem to create is a list of things I don't miss.

Can you?

I don't miss paper fast passes.

Of course, I haven't been back since they phased them out...

While not ride, there are a lot of things I don't miss. I don't miss the days before any type of Fast Pass. I don't miss when Epcot was the only park consistently open at night for fireworks. I don't miss having to walk into Communicore to make dining reservations at Epcot. I don't miss having to call every time I want to check on a dining reservation or look for a room. I don't miss having to pay for a shuttle in order to get to and from the airport.

I guess I really don't miss Snow White or Mr Toad. I mostly rode them because the lines were pretty short.

The cake castle -- it was an unwelcome surprise on my first ever trip to WDW (with then GF, now DW). To commemorate our first ever trip to Disney World, let's get a picture of us in front of... what is that thing? Every time I see a picture I just shake my head.

The Mickey hand and wand on Spaceship Earth.

The hat.

I think I see a theme here.

Definitely the cake castle. I can't believe some exec didn't look at that and say "Seriously, this is what you want to do?". It was just an abomination. :sad2:

I sort of liked the cake castle. :o

I also don't miss having to go to a kiosk in Epcot to try and get dining reservations. Was never able to get one. I don't miss Honey I Shrunk The Audience. I nearly had heart failure the one time I rode it and the mice came shooting out. :scared1:

I don't miss not being able to get through MK's hub between 8pm-10pm!!
I also don't miss having to fish around for a room key whilst I have my hands full with mugs!

I don't miss Capt. Eo. Oh, wait...

I don't miss how they let people into the park in the morning and then held the huge crowd at an arbitrary point until they dropped the rope. Instead of holding them outside the tapstiles and letting them into an open park in an orderly fashion. Oh, wait...

I don't miss Anna and Elsa kicking the resident princess and her prince out of their castle in MK for the whole Holiday period and taking all the credit for the Christmas lights and shows. Because we were assured it was a one time thing, and all would return to normal once the initial over-hyping was finished. Oh, wait...

It seems like a lot of the old attractions are still at DL, we'll have to go there sometime. Although I don't like FP+ anywhere near as much as FP, I don't miss before there was any FP either

I don't miss 20,000 Leagues, Sounds Dangerous, Idol or the revolving door of pop up attractions in Hollywood Studios (like Prince Caspian, etc.)

In defense of the cake castle, I was 12 years old on that trip. I had been to WDW a number of times before, so seeing the castle as a cake was actually pretty darned magical to me. I thought it was really cool.

I also really wish they'd revert back to
the old version of Illuminations do that I could "not miss" the current version.:-)
