...it's the drops and spinning I can't take

I am someone who gets motion sickness pretty easily. I can't sit in the back seat of the car, for example. For this reason -- not for fear -- I don't go on roller coasters. I do not have any problem on things like Kilimanjaro Safari, though. So my question is this --

Is Dinosaur! in AK jerky like Kilimanjaro, or nauseating like a roller coaster or motion simulator (ugh, Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride in Disney Quest literally made me throw up!). What about BTMRR? It doesn't seem as spinny and droppy as others. I did ride it when I was a kid, but I don't remember much.

Thanks in advance for your help!!! :thumbsup2

OH YEAH! Same question about Test Track, too!

If you like Kilmanjaro- I think you'll do fine on Dinosaur and certainly on Test Track.:thumbsup2

That is good news! Thanks for your input. I really would like to *not* take the chicken exit on a few rides this trip :lmao:

I agree that Dinosaur and Test Track should be fine for you. However, there is a bit of motion-sickness-inducing movements in BTMM. There are some ups and downs but the worst could be the corkscrew type section of track. I tend to get motion sick on spinny things too and find myself concentrating on breathing during the corkscrew area. But if it helps at all, I have found that I tend to be LESS motion sick on roller coasters if I force myself to concentrate on breathing. Once I realized that I was holding my breath here and there, I tried this and it worked for me.

Good luck!

Thanks! That does sound like good advice. The few times I've gone on coasters, I've just closed my eyes and probably held my breath, too - just praying it would end :rotfl: Breathing does sound like it would help. I don't know if I'm going to try it just yet, but I will surely let you know if I do :thumbsup2

Have you thought of trying a motion sick patch or taking bonnies or Dramamine, before trying the rides? I had to take Dramamine when we went to Maui so we could do the road to Hana and go up to Haleakala, as I also get car sick/motion sick pretty easy.
I can do BTMRR fine, I actually enjoy it. But there are a few drops and tight turns that I recall.

I haven't ever tried any Dramamine or anything like that. Does it really work? I've heard some people say it makes them feel kinda whacked out all day :confused3

Dramamine works for me, I do get the "less drowsy" version and my only side effect from it is being a little tired. But every reacts different to medications.
I have also used the patch, you stick it behind your ear. I used that when we took a boat trip, as I also get very sea sick. It worked great for me, but I have become allergic to something in medical adhesives - I have to even watch out for bandaids now, so I can't use them anymore. The only effect I had on the patch was being thirsty. I was so very glad I had used it when I did, that trip turned out to be a bad day to be at sea, a lot of people got sea sick due to a rough trip. So I was sold when it got me through that without being sick.

Thanks for the info. I think I would do better with the patch -- since anything that has the propensity to make someone even a teensy bit drowsy tends to make me fall asleep :lmao: Thirsty, I can handle. I drink a gallon or more of water on a regular day -- more at Disney -- so drinking more isn't a problem.

Bonine is the BEST!! (for me anyway)
Non drowsy- lasts all day and I never have any side effects.
I am very sensitive to Dramamine, Benadryl or anything that "may" cause drowsiness. It'll knock me out for the whole day!

I have pretty significant motion sickness as well. In the car, on a ship, or on any ride that spins for goes upside down. Bonine is my friend! :lovestruc
I still don't do the teacups or Rock n Roller Coaster- but I did just ride BTMRR, Test Track on my trip last week.
I don't seem to mind the drops- so Tower of Terror (only once a trip) and Splash Mountain (anytime!!) are fun!

Unfortunately- not even Bonine works for me on Everest! :scared1:

Do any of you remember back in 2000, when there were all of those extra country kiosks at Epcot? Remember the ride in Israel? It was kinda bumpy and jerky... is Dinosaur like that?
