I don't like some of the changes to Pirates!

Is it my imagination or did we lose some features of Pirates when they last rehabbed it?

While I like the new projection in the beginning and the additions of Capt. Jack, I noticed that the "dead men tell no tales" audio in the beginning is very weak (infact, I thought all of the audio was very weak) and the old speil about the storms abrewing before the drop is missing.

I also think that Capt. Jack's speech at the treasure room is way to long. Even with the backup that we were in, I still did not hear the whole thing. I also miss the drunken pirates at the treasure room.

I noticed most of this a couple of weeks ago and was hoping that the audio issues were just technical problems that day. I rerode Wednesday and the same issues were present.

Any one else notice these? What are your opinions?

The reviews I have read commented on the upgraded audio. :confused3 :earsboy:

I agree with you. I rode the rehabbed version for the first time Wednesday and was not happy at all with the audio. Definitely worse for me. Wonder why they did that? :confused3

Well, let's see, what did we loose :

1) A couple of audio cues
2) A couple of drunken pirates (in a compromising position that never looked entirely appropriate, LOL)

What we got :

1) Several new state-of-the-art AA's
2) Improved effects in several scenes (the cannonballs in the water, etc.)
3) Brand-new water-mist effect
4) A spit and polish (and a bump and grind) all over a ride that was over thirty years old, to ensure that it lasts well into the future
5) Johnny Depp. Mmm...

So, I think it was well worth it. At least in my opinion. I just see the fact that Jack's speech at the end is so long as just another reason to re-ride; and I think it was smart because of the notoroious build-up that happens there even on slow days to give people something more interesting to watch.

I thought that the fire scene was too different.

Also, I felt that they used the movie music for 90% of it, and not enough of the original Yo-Ho. Yo-Ho is better for the ride. The messages in wine bottles were a nice touch, but in my opinion, they lowered the quality of the ride.

Not enough YOHO YOHO???   I LOVE THAT SONG...........is it gone????????????? :scared: :scared: :faint: :faint:

Sadly, the majority was the new movie music. I paid particular attention because the Mickey Monitor said that 'Yo-Ho' would stay. It did, but not enough. :(

Oh man!! Say it isn't so! I love that song!! They should have left the music the way it was...

A very LARGE chunk of the original Yo-Ho score is still there, almost all of it actually.

Only two or three of the attraction's scenes were given the film scores. Besides, they really only put the film scores in scenes that didn't have music before (like the battle between the pirate ship and the fortress).

So, obviously, the song is still part of the ride...and the ride is still basically the same attraction, really. They just added some additional things and upgraded some stuff here and there.

They need to go down there with a make up artist to put some powder on Jack's nose! :rotfl2: No, really! I noticed that all of the new attractions that don't have beards are all shiny! I figure a little cake powder or even some dirt/grime would help them not look so darn NEW! :teeth: I hate to be a snob but I don't think anything can help the WDW ride! for those who have been to Disneyland in California, tell me you don't think they have a MUCH better ride? There's just something missing at WDW. :confused3 Helen

Disneyland's POC is much better/longer. Did they add Jack Sparrow and all that to the DL version as well??

I haven't ridden the upgraded POC yet, but just from the sounds of it, I don't think I'm going to like the changes. I mean, the movie was BASED on the ride. And now they've changed the ride to match the movie?? That's so backwards. And I think the changes are being supported by a lot of people of this board for the wrong reason (aka "Johnny Depp is so hot"--excuse me, but I'm so SICK of that).

I didn't think that much was changed from the way it was :confused3

The yo-ho is definately still there. Captain Jack is only in 3 spots. And for a ride that used to always be a walk on to go to one that always has a wait, it seems that Disney made the right choice to rehab Pirates. I know that we went on 3 times this week!

I've always loved POTC pirate: and was thrilled with most of the new changes they made. We rode it 3 times because I thought they had taken out "Dead Men Tell No Tales" but it was just very very low. Also the lady in the window on the right with the well scene used to scream and make the flowerpots break, now she says something I couldn't make out and the pots no longer break :sad2:. Very glad to see the pirate with the hairy leg is still on the bridge!

POTC IS better in California and in Paris - mainly because it is longer! That said, I STILL love POTC at WDW Florida, but I do wish it were longer. It is such a classic!
