I dont like on line reservation system...to easy to cheat

Everything is booked for you? I just made my reservations for 4th of July weekend (which should be an incredibly crowded time). I got every ADR that I wanted (7)...I even played around with it a few times. Because we don't have parkhoppers, I made 2 extra (although they don't conflict in time) that I will cancel.

I agree that some places should have a credit card hold like CRT or Fantasmic packages and what not, but otherwise...does it really matter all that much? (yes, I did say that about food :rotfl2:)

Yes, it does. It's inconsiderate to those who might want a ressie at that time for that restaurant and can't get one because someone else can't or doesn't want to make up their mind. I would never feel so entitled to not have to make up my mind as to potentially mess with someone else's vacation plans. If a restaurant is really booked because there are people who will be eating there at the time I want to and got there first, I'm good with that, but if I have to tell my 4 year old that we can't eat at Chef Mickey's this year because a bunch of other people just didn't want to have to make up their mind, then that's just wrong IMO.

I personally know someone going in June, who has 17 table service reservations, over the span of 6 days.

Simply because of the free dining, and his ability to make the reservations unchecked. He claims he will cancel them as needed when the time gets closer.

But that is still tying up a large number of tables for almost 70 days.

I vent because it is 84 days out for me, and almost everything is full for "normal" eating times.

I have 15 or 16 over the span of 7 days :confused3 I don't see the problem, I plan on using every single one of them we have the DxDDP.... is this person not using their ADRs?

One of my original points is how big of a problem is this? Is this only mostly a problem during free dining? I was much closer than 180 days when I booked my meals, and my 4 year old won't be crying b/c we are missing something. I got some great places duing a busy holiday weekend (Donald Safari, Sci Fi, Ohana, Crystal Palace).

I do agree that Chef Mickey's and CRT are different (b/c of it being such a must do for children), and I would never book those extra. But CRT does require some sort of hold, right? Chef Mickey could too without doing it for every single restaurant. But even the places that have holds you can still cancel within a few days, right?

I agree with others that if Disney saw this as impacting their bottom line then they would change the policy (like they have with certain places).

I don't understand the issue with booking numerous ADR's. I am going in 3 months at the end of June and right now there are tons of ADR's available at all restaurants (including CM, CRT, O'Hana, La Cellier) so I don't see what the problem is. I have numerous ADR's for my upcoming trip because I don't believe in setting up plans 6 months ahead. I have a four year old also and I'm sure you can understand that plans can change in a matter of seconds. There are restaurants that we do enjoy however such as Le cellier, CM and O'Hana so I book extra ADR's on different days to eat there because I just like you do not want to tell my four year old that they cannot eat at CM. I also will not drag my four year old out of bed Kicking and screaming to go to CM for breakfest if she wants to sleep in that particular morning. This is supposed to be a fun vacation!!!!!!

It makes no difference between online or calling to make multiple reservations. WDW has a very good idea of no show rates for various places and times. They may offer 100 reservations for CP each day for breakfast knowing they can only serve 80 max. It's only a problem when too many people show up or no show than expected. The ADRs are more like call ahead seating where you show up at your appointed time and get the next available table. When more show up than the computer projects you end up waiting past your time. If your friend no shows for lots of ADRs it just means less waiting for others with ADRs. Each place can only serve so many people, every single ADR spot can't be utilized anyway. It's not the nicest thing to do but WDW plans for it.

And while I tried to resist the urge to respond, since I was quoted, as I said before...

And further clarification since that wasn't clear enough......it is bad manners to book reservations that you don't intend on keeping. If you book two reservations at the same time in different places, you obviously do not intend on keeping one of them regardless of whether you know which one that is. In the grand scheme of things, one person doing this does not have a large impact, the problem comes when many people all figure the same thing (they feel that they are so important that they shouldn't have to be inconvenienced by having to have a schedule or make up their mind, just the other people who wanted that tables at the times they reserved without intending to use them) and then do it and reservations become harder to get. I suggest that you understand your child's typical schedule and make your ADRs accordingly. That's why we never do TS at breakfast (just in case we can't get everyone up and moving because that does happen in our home) and we like to schedule dinner between 5-6 before they get too tired and lunch early like 11 so we don't run the risk of running into nap time. If something comes up then we deal with it at the time and see what can be done at the time.

I do not see the problem with booking ALL of your ADRs prior to your trip...we are going for 8 nights and I have 16 ADRs and I "plan" on going to all of them. Have I double booked...meaning have I booked 2 ADRs at Chef Mickeys? At Le Cellier? ...yes..because if something happens and we can't get there, we still have an opportunity to go another time. Have I booked 2 around the same time, same day? yes...because sometimes we are not sure what we are doing until the last minute. Do I call to cancel? Yes I do, IF I can (meaning my child is not sick or something more important than remembering to call and cancel comes up). By us canceling though means that people who try to call for ADRs the last minute, means they have a better chance of getting in for a magical meal :) Why do I book all of these? Because I am paying for it by purchasing the DELUXE dining plan and if I want 3 TS a day, I will take my 3 TS a day (even though 3 TS is too much food for any family...we have that option if we choose to do so).:) I make my ADRs 180 days in advance or as soon as I can if I book with less than 180 days...planning ahead makes for a more enjoyable vacation and my family and I are able to eat at the places and with the characters we choose to eat at/with.
