I don't Like Macy's!

When I was little, (4 or 5) my mother would take me shopping with her and leave me at the child care play ground in the Boston Commons. There was a lot of play ground equipment, arts and crafts and she paid by the hour. I can remember having a number pinned to the back of my clothing so I couldn't take it off and get mixed up with another kid. ;) When she did take me into Filene's, on a couple of occasions, I missed going to the play ground so much that I would wait until she got undressed in the fitting room and run out. I was a brat!!! ;)

I don't recall seeing a child care place in Boston Commons recently so I'm not sure it's still there.

I have mixed feelings about Filene's being gone. There was so much I hated about them as an employee. On the flip side, I haven't had much satisfaction shopping at Macy's recently. Ann Taylor and Land's End have been getting most of my clothing budget lately.

It has been gone for years and years.

Another reason to live in Iowa.

Iowa is one of only 5 states with NO Macy's. Not a single one. :teeth:

monorailsilver - Before Macy's in the Trumbull Shopping Park (or is it called stupid Westfield Trumbull now), it was Jordan Marsh and before that it was originally D.M. Read's which was a Bridgeport based department store (I use to love Reads). Filenes use to be G. Fox (out of Hartford) and before that is was E.J. Korvette's (a discount New York department store). I don't shop the malls much, but I use to love Reads and G. Fox and thought they catered more to the tastes of Connecticut, not on whatever the current trend that was going on in New York or LA. It sure seems like a long list of stores that Macy's has taken over.

Our Robinsons-May is now Macy's

Robinson-May was never my favorite anyway, but at least it was an option and they did always run the coupon specials.
We already had plenty of Macy's around here. :confused3

If Macy's would just cut back on all the mailings I get from them every week they could give me my 20% discount and then some on the rare occasion that I decide to shop there. (without getting their CC - I hate feeling pressured into that as well) I've been innundated with their mailings since they took over.

Just shopped the old Robinsons-May location and it seemed like almost 1/2 of what Macy's carried was their store brand. I was looking for a specific DKNY item and it was like looking for a needle in a haystack amongst all the Style & Co stuff.

Of course I'm a Nordstrom gal if I have a choice, just wish they'd put one on my side of town.

Macy's just took over Fields here in our town of 90k.

I went in there this weekend to check out the store. Not many shoppers at all and all I saw was sign after sign for stating sign up for their cc and get hte discounts..

No thanks,

herc.

Our Burdine's were changed to Macy's. I went in there the other day and I could not believe the disarray of some areas. :scared1: Plus the store was about 100 degrees. I walked in, looked around and walked right out. They need to do something with that store.
