I don't know if I want to do online check in

We've also had good and bad experiences with the on-line check-in line. My rule is if I'm staying value I will use it, but if not then I don't. The reason for this is I've waited longer in the regular line at Pop than any other place.

I do think if Disney is going to advertise that on-line check-in is such a time saver, they should try very hard to accomodate those guests in the on-line check-in line first.:thumbsup2

I totally agree :thumbsup2

You should be able to go to any line if you do online check in. I know they have a specific line specified, but it has been reported that it really doesn't matter.

So if the online check in line is longer, go to the regular line.

They may or may not help you. I know at CSR the online check in was a mile long, so I left it and went to the other line which had only two families, just to be told that my packet was over with the online checkin folks and I had to go back over to that line. They would not go over and get my packet.

We've done online check-in ever since it was offered and we've never waited anywhere close to what most of the previous posters have stated. My wait is no more than 5 minutes, if that, when waiting for the next available CM. Of course I only go during Value season and am sure that impacts wait times when comparing those that go June through August or during a holiday week. In addition, we check-in before noon most times and there are not many people there at that time as most will start checking in close to the posted time of 3:00pm, which we avoid.

You can still check in at either line. The person will just go over to the online check in and get your folder. IMO though, online check-in doesn't really speed anything up. I'm not really sure what the point of it is..

I am on the fence about doing online check-in also. Today is the day I can do it. We would be arriving Sunday morning from the auto train so probably at CBR by 11 maybe even earlier. I have made a room request on my reservation, what do you all think? I am assuming that Sunday mornings are as bust as Saturdays with people checking out. I don't want to spend alot of time waiting in line but I want to give every chance to get my building request.

Funny, ive only done online checkin once at Pop, all other times I didnt do online checkin and I never ever had to wait in line. The que for the reg checkin were always empty! I couldnt believe it!! This was on several occasions. It was great! Now when i did my first mod (POR), OMG that was pure hell. There were at least 10-15 ppl in the reg checkin line. I was so ticked, i wish i had done online checkin at that resort.

As i said, my experience with checking in at Pop (thats where we've stayed the most) has been fantastic. Never a wait. I dont do online checkin because i've had a better chance getting the room i want by asking when im face to face with the CM. This is the reason we do the regular checkin.

I planned to do Online simply because we will be arriving so early and i was hoping for a better chance on our rooms being ready if they had a heads up on how early we would be arriving.

We checked in online first but when we got there it was 6 am and just went up to one of the regular windows and got checked in. It didn't seem to matter.

Can you make room requests when you check-in online? I made the request on the phone, but I am wondering if they might overlook it. Usually I would ask again in that case upon check-in but wasn't sure if I could ask at online check-in or should just check-in when we arrive at the hotel.

Our last 2 stays at CBR, we did online check-in with 2 requests each time. Both times we walked right up to an online check-in CM and both of our requests were met (Jamaica 45 and 2nd floor). We arrived via ME, on a Sunday, both times so we got there right when at least 10-15 other parties and had no waits.

Remember this was our experience, and yours may differ. :)

IIRC, there's a limited amount of requests that can be made online. When I did online check in for our May trip at CSR, I could check off which section of the resort I wanted to request (Casitas, Cabanas, or Ranchos), plus things like ground floor and close to bus stop. I had called and added my request for Casitas to my reservation prior to doing the online check in. I then checked that box off during online check in. I got my request.

On previous trips, my choices for requests during online check in were even more limited. I couldn't request what area of the resort I wanted, only general things like being close to the bus stop. I always called and added my requests to my reservation, and I've always had my requests met. Only once was the first room assigned to me not what I requested and that was before WDW started online check in. I politely asked at check in if my request for room location could be met and they did.

I think the whole thing with regular desk employees not taking online check in folks right away is because they have "regular desk duties" to tend to. When they aren't checking people in or out, they have other work they are likely getting done like blocking rooms, filling requests, making courtesy calls. I used to work in a high traffic hotel and we had "busy work" we had to get done in between guests.

I used to work in a grocery store at the customer service desk in college as well. I had the ability to cash people out but I had service desk responsibilities I had to tend to as well. If I had a minute without a customer and there was a line of only one to two people, I may take advantage of that free minute. I guess that's what I'm getting at.

Well, I did online check-in and requested Jamaica and Aruba on the form. We'll see what happens.

Tomorrow is my 10 day mark, so I can do online check in. Has anyone had any luck getting room requests if they DO online check in? ?

Getting requests fulfilled has nothing to do with online check-in.

It has to do with how busy the resort is, if another resort is overbooked and needs rooms, a major event is scheduled that is taking up lots of rooms in that resort, maintenance issues or refurbishments that take rooms out of inventory, someone stays a day later because they cannot leave due to weather issues at home, etc.

All of these things you have no control over.

This is good to hear (because I've read conflicting reports on this).

One the one hand, we'd like to do online check in because we'll be arriving our resort around 11 and would like to increase our odds of having our room ready when we arrive.

On the other hand, we've been leary about it because we've requested adjoining rooms with my parents, who won't be arriving until around 6 pm (we'd read elsewhere that if you do online check in, your odds are lower of having an adjoining room request granted).

So we've been torn on what to do. :confused3

Since all rooms in all the resorts are adjoining, you should have no trouble getting adjoining rooms.

As long as your reservations are "linked" through CRO and adjoining is on your reservation, the room assigner will try to accommodate you the best they can.

It is connecting rooms that can be hard to come by.
