Prayers are much appreciated for my sweet sister in law and the babies (a and ). She spent a few days at the hospital with contractions and such, but did get to go back home for bedrest. Each day is so important, and she still has weeks to go before delivery would not be risky. Thanks DISTOWN!

You know we don't have any complaints about the walks from rooms too food courts. Maybe having to walk through the land of Scar and the hyenas made the walk to the main building seem longer and more ominous. I was too busy taking pictures to think about the walk. It was the same as walking over to the 50's at Pop, in my opinion.

I think Brandi was looking at another place today after school. Her parents were thinking Portland was too far, so I'm pretty sure we can cut anything in GA off the list. Although...I did hear a faint rumor of 'just go to the beach', which I would be ALL FOR.

See, and I don't think the walk from the very far end of 50's to the food court is bad at all. So I guess it depends on the person.

Anna and Chris got married at Miramar Beach (near Destin) in Florida and (although their marriage didn't work out) it was absolutely gorgeous! It was early October and the monarch butterflies were migrating to Mexico and they were EVERYWHERE....very cool!

We've been in this new queue 2-3 times now, and we like it. The girls like climbing around, and it gives the grown-ups a chance to chill out for a few minutes.

Can't wait to see this with my own eyes! I hope it's toddler friendly. Seth will be just over 2.5 when we go, so I'm hoping he can just go wild while I sit down for a few minutes!

Sorry, all. It has been a crazy busy week here. It is finally Friday, though, and hopefully I will be having a nice crash-fest tonight and can do responses and put up more pictures. Have a Fantastical Friday!

Also, please keep our DIS friend, Tracy, in your thoughts and prayers. She is not doing well, but as always, what her friends are posting for on her behalf are her strong words of faith and fortitude. She is a true inspiration and encouragement as she goes through this.

Good morning, all. I had planned to put up pictures last night, but as you see, it did not happen. An extremely busy and somewhat stressful week at school, followed by our Christmas program Thursday night - which meant being at school from 6:30 a.m. to about 8 p.m. - had already fried my brain. Ending the week with such a horrendous happening as what went on in one school yesterday just really did me in.

At a time like this, we look for profound words, yet the only things we can muster up are weak groanings of disbelief and sympathy. We feel relief that our own are safe, gut wrenching sadness for those who are not, and maybe a twinge of guilt for being able to go on with our lives in a semi-normal way when we see those whose lives will never, ever be the same again for so many reasons. But, I have to think some good happened yesterday, too. The ripple effect from what occurred will never be known. How many parents stopped to hug their kids a little longer last night? How many bedtime stories were read in homes where they had not done that in a while? How many all-too-busy-with-work dads left early and came home to snuggle with their kids? How many stressed out supermoms put their perfection aside and just colored with their children and cherished the little fingers that tried diligently to stay within the lines? As in any situation, I reach far down to find the good that can come from such a bad experience. As Marc said yesterday in a FB post, he wished the events of the day had never happened. So simple, and we all wish we could rewind. It is such a bad nightmare come to life.


This school was much like my own in that it was large and went up to 4th grade. I can visualize, to some degree, what those teachers were doing and thinking, and I am cut to the heart to think of the fear and the chaos going through the minds of those kids. Any of us who are parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, spouses, siblings - that's all of us, right? - can imagine the devastation we would feel if those were our own inside that school's walls. Many thoughts and prayers for this real town from our DIStown. Know that just because we are not really a community as far as proximity, we are a community, and that you are all very much cared for and appreciated and thought of often. Thoughts and prayers for all of Newtown and all of our DIS families as we move on with our todays and tomorrows. I hope this reminds us once again to cherish the little things and try not to let the stresses of life get to us so much that it keeps us from doing so.

Thanks Memom for your words of wisdom. I knew that if I came to check in that you would have something to say that would help sooth my soul. My heart is breaking for all those parents & children that went thru such traumatic events. As a sub teacher, I can see the beautiful faces of the kindergarten children that is one of my favorite to work in, and can't imagine if this would have been them. Even though my children are older, I am glad they were in their beds last night and I had the opportunity to give them hugs last night and again this morning. Once again... thanks for your wonderful words.

I think I need a Disney day to make me have some happy thoughts again. Until then, I will go back and look at your pictures.

After coming back from lunch yesterday and watching the horrifying news broadcast, I couldn't quite get my mind off the precious lives lost at that school. I feared that there would be no way that I could protect my own kids with our open walls and lack of doors in second and third grade. I pray in light of these events our district will take action to protect our students. We can't ever be careful enough.

I am way behind as usual, but will catch up It has been a crazy busy week, as always with 2 weeks until Christmas and with the news yesterday, it has taken some of the joy out of it.

Newtown is about 10 miles down the road from me and 2 towns over. As I said in a fb post, it is unimaginable that something so horrific happened here...to see national news anchors standing in spots and going to places that you drive by all the time is absolutely unreal. One of the little girls is the daughter of a coworker of my husbands...please keep all the families, first responders, the community and the surrounding area in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.

He was a fine man. He will be known for his singing/music and for his corny jokes. His family seems to be doing well, and yes, it has to be a relief even during the grief that they are not having to watch him lay there day after day being miserable.

I stil have to go to school until Thursday. We have students up until lunchtime on Wednesday.

There were plenty of open horses - I think all of DIStown could have joined us that night!

Although it is all enclosed, some of it is kind of high. I guess it depends on how many bigger kids are running around there as to how toddler friendly it will be. Some of the older ones are a little rowdy, I'm sure - just having fun, of course, but not so aware of the little ones.

There was more wedding talk yesterday. I think they have narrowed it to two choices of places, and the date has been set at July 5th. The May date didn't work with Brandi's school schedule, and they are booked in June, so July 5th it is!

I think we have decided that Sophie's 1st birthday party - yes, I know it is next August - will have a Storybook Circus theme. A circus party will be cute and easy to find things for, and we'll give it the Disney touch. Should be perfect for a Disney baby and her crazy family.

This will be a long, slow healing journey for many. We just have to continue to encourage each other along the way. God has those little ones safe from all harm now. I hope the families who yearn to hold them and whose bodies and minds ache with deep grief right now can somehow be comforted by that thought.

We are so blessed to have our children. This is a good reminder to all to be patient when those little blessings make messes or ask a thousand questions all day long. They are innocent little people just trying to explore their world and their boundaries. They are not out to get us or make our days miserable. They love us, trust us, and want our attention.

Glad you enjoyed the Epcot trip through pictures. Any time I see pictures of the Fountain of Nations, I can so easily picture myself standing there.

I was so moved by the story of the young teacher who hid all of her kids in the closet and then told the gunman that her class was at P.E. He shot her, and then moved on. She is a true hero.

Since we all need to continue with the happy and positive things in our lives, even with so much sadness around us, I will share with you a few pictures from the past week and then move on with Disney trip pictures.

Every year, the school my kids went to partners with the school at which I teach to have a Christmas party. Our kids look forward to it as soon as Halloween is behind them, and on the day of the party, they come in like this -

The big kids bring treat bags and snacks and play games with our kids. Our kids attach themselves to them right away, and in their minds, they are best friends before the party is over.

Last night, our bundle of energy, Bella, had her Christmas dance recital.
