I Don't Know, I Don't Speak Wind!!

We finally saw Fantasmic after many years this past trip. It was just as perfect as I remembered it. Not much of a line either.
Except there was a very strange man behind us talking to himself and singing, rather loudly...:confused3

About that Wizard of Oz theme. Remember, we are in Kansas. I'm sure it's all about the fact that they have been displaced for a semester.
And, there's no place like home....

Sadie & I watched with Marc and Anita - it was fabulous!!! Sorcerer Mickey is my fav Mickey - so his plush came home with me this trip. :)

Twice this weekend, I was reminded how ancient I am......Once when the comments about the Great Movie Ride started.....I love that it honors GREAT Movies, oldies but goodies.....Remember that the park was originally Disney/MGM Studios, and that ride honored the MGM classics, especially.

Then, on Facebook page for Fish Extenders, someone remarking about the possibility of Star Wars themed FE gifts, someone said she never saw the movie, and her kids don't know the characters! Good heavens, Ancient, I am!

We've never seen Fantasmic and I really want to! I know that Jake would be able to sit through the whole thing, but how do you think Mallory would do? Did the girls watch it around the time they turned 2 years old?

Two of my favorites; GMR and Fantasmic. I'm a sucker for old movies.

Angus looked like he enjoyed it all too.

My girls have seen it almost every trip. Which means the two big ones definitely saw it when they were around 2. I've never had to take them out during any show. I'm sure Mallory would enjoy it.

I love the picture of Mickey on the mountain where you can see the mechanism behind him. As much as I love the Disney magic, I also love all the behind-the-scenes things that show you how the magic happens!

Love Fantasmic! Can't see it enough... our pics often leave something to be desired, but we keep trying. As I have said many times , we go during a busy time and there are often two shows at night... when we see that the line is moving we get at the end and say, " as long as we get in we don't care where we sit". You notice new things when you sit on the side!

Love steamboat Willie ! Angus with Bo cracked me up.

They are supposed to be adding new seating up in the back, so that will help. I have been all the way over to the very edge on the left if you are facing the stage, and we couldn't see the water screens very well. It was at too much of an angle. We usually get pretty lucky and get something somewhere in the middle. That place can be a madhouse, though, can't it???

I love Fantasmic, but Disney sure does make you work for the experience.:crazy2:

Yes, you do have to be willing to give a little up front...::yes::

I also saw Fantasmic in Sept in DL and Oct in DHS. Walked right in. :duck:

I know - I just can't do the massive line... second show and just wait. :confused3

Love the show and for the record- like it better at DHS. It may only be a bench but you have a seat.

There are no seats at Fantasmic in Disneyland? What's the difference in the shows?

Thanks for the Fantasmic pictures. We didn't go see it this year, so it was nice seeing it here.

Love the GMR. We did that multiple times this trip. I was always afraid of the flying monkeys in Wizard of Oz too. Otherwise, it was a good movie. Loved John Wayne movies too!

The girls are so cute on the empty streets. Such cuties.

Thanks heavens for youtube, too, so we can see all of our Disney favorites all year 'round. :thumbsup2

Love the Fantasmic pictures! It's definitely quite the journey to and from the show, but it's worth it. ::yes::

We think so. We usually get ice cream and just enjoy chatting and eating while we wait. We do much better when a certain person is not with us, as he does not like crowds, heat, or waiting. ;) When he is miserable, he likes to share his misery with others. When he is not, we hardly notice the heat or the waiting.

Loved F! at DL, but isn't the whole set -up a little strange given what goes on at the studios ? Walked out of the haunted mansion and said what's going on? Oh, it's Fantasmic...

That would be very different.

I love GMR too - but I could do without Alien for sure.

Fantasmic is awesome - I'm glad you shared because we didn't see it in October and we haven't seen it in a long time. I love the picture at the end of Sorcerer Mickey! My favorite!

Silly happy girls - I would be too if I were at DHS past my bedtime! ::yes::

I think that woman on the left is creepier than the alien.

It's very adventurous to be out roaming the streets at midnight. :goodvibes

Just caught up again. The girls made cute princesses and peas. Halloween already feels like it was so long ago!
Your Plaza lunch looks pretty good. We haven't tried that one yet. Someday.
I just love Fantasmic. pixiedust: We're planning on seeing it this coming trip. Hopefully the little ones will cooperate. I think the last time I saw it was 2009 and that's just too long!

Yes, it is time to see it again. Hope the kids enjoy doing the wave and seeing the show. :thumbsup2

Hahaha now the Fantasmic music is stuck in my head from humming along with your photos! I haven't seen F! in a long time, maybe it's time for a revisit!

Hollywood Studios at night really does have so much more atmosphere than during the day! I don't know why, the signs all lit up? :confused3

I think the lights and all the neon signs definitely give the place a special feel.

Love Fantasmic, one of my favourites!

It is one of our very favorite ways to end a day.

Gotcha. Didn't even think of the Kansas thing.

Sadie & I watched with Marc and Anita - it was fabulous!!! Sorcerer Mickey is my fav Mickey - so his plush came home with me this trip. :)

Sorceror Mickey was the first character Sophie saw, so I guess he'll hold a special place in our hearts, too. Neither Jill nor I remember Brooklynn's or Bella's first characters. I'd have to go back and look at pictures. I'm thinking the Pooh characters might have been Brooklynn's.

True, I didn't think about the MGM factor.

I have never seen a Star Wars movie. I think that is some kind of sin or something, but I haven't.

We've never seen Fantasmic and I really want to! I know that Jake would be able to sit through the whole thing, but how do you think Mallory would do? Did the girls watch it around the time they turned 2 years old?

We've been lucky. So far neither girl has felt the need to scream or run out of any place yet - Fantasmic, It's Tough to Be a Bug, or anything iffy. We'll see how Sophie feels about things next year.

Angus was probably thinking how cool it was to be out so late, too.

There are so many cool things to see and know about this whole place - all the parks and resorts and extras. We want to take some of the tours in the future and know even more.

Oh I love Fantasmic! The part at the end with all of the characters on the boat is definitely worth the crazy wait and the horrible herd of people trying to get out after it's over! On the trip in October I took my aunts to see it one night (both of whom had never seen it) and they both agreed it was their favourite thing that they saw on the trip! It was a ladies night out treat. The little ones tried to watch it last year and apparently had to leave within the first few minutes because they were terrified (however, they are absolute fraidy-cats! Mia and Kai are both scared of even the Tiki Room! :confused3) I'm glad Brooklynn and Bella are fans! I love their sassy picture on the steets of Hollywood (even if it is past bedtime! ;) )

As usual, I'm reading updates backwards b/c I'm behind.

Loved the Fantasmic! pictures. I'm SO excited to see it in May. We skipped it last trip b/c we wanted to get Seth back to the hotel early the night we were at DHS. It's one of my favorite parts of Disney. I adore the story line and the music, and the ending always makes me tear up! Can't wait to see what Seth thinks about it.

Silly, happy girls out on the streets way past bedtime.

Isn't that what vacation's all about? :goodvibes

Good to know I won't be taking Seth on this ride. He sees that, he will FREAK! He hates Bruce.

If we buy this, we can play Fantasmic. :)

IMG_1157.jpg

I'll chip in as long as I can be one of the bad guys (specifically Maleficent)! :thumbsup2

OK. So how many of thought - just for a second - about making ADR's?? :lmao::rotfl:

That is EXACTLY what I thought.....wow, if you are checking in on Christmas Day, you'd have been making ADRs that day! We all need interventions. :upsidedow

.

The show itself is pretty much the same but the show takes place on Tom Sawyer Island. Same set up with the water between you and the actual show.
They just line you up around the Rivers of America, the first 10 or so rows get to sit in a roped off area and then they file standing rows behind them.

What was funny is that the rope between the standing and sitting rows gets dropped and the CM just says - Everyone in font of this rope stay seated and everyone behind this rope stay standing, and then the rope is gone. People actually stayed where they were.

You can be closer to the actual action but having a seat on a bench and stadium seating makes DHS the winner in my book.

It's kind I'd the same over at World of Color-you get a fast pass for your section and then you stand.

Fantasmic is so much fun! We don't get to see it nearly as often, because I seem to be the only real fan in the family. I was hoping to get Everett on my side, but after our last trip, I'm not sure he's going to be in the "pro-fantasmic" camp. :scared: Thanks for the pictures!

If you happen to see this before 1:30, throw some Disney magic my way. I have a formal observation this afternoon for Math. Hoping the Blow-Pops I have offered my kids at the end of the day will be enough to make them act like little angels and follow all directions perfectly...and quietly. ;)
