But I get ALOT of lopsided trade offers from the TA. I get some decent and fair offers, but almost every day since I have been back from the pin event, I get 5 or 6 offers to trade lanyard series pins for my Event pins. Some of which I stood in line for hours for, and some of which are le 1500. I get offers to trade lanyard pins for my Princess pins -- like 1 a day. Offers for lanyard pins to trade for my LE 1000 mystery pins.

I like using the trade assistant and I know everyone is going to tell me that it is automated, but the fact is a trader KNOWS what a fair trade is and the person wanting to trade knows what is fair to trade away. And its not a Lanyard series pin that you traded the 1.50 cheappins snow white 7 dwarfs mini head for!

If your looking to trade Lanyard series for lanyard series, or another fair pin -- send them my way. I am not going to trade Minnie in a Tube for my Tinkerbell Mystery pin or My Cinderella dressed for the ball LE 1500.

You're not alone! I've taken the lanyard pins off of my want list for this reason alone. Maybe you need to set up two different pinpics accounts. Many folks have had to do this for the lopsided problem. There are good, fair trades out there, they just are getting a little harder to find.

Ahhhhhh.....such is the nature of the TA. It can't tell what pin is an LE or a Pro Pin.

Some people just go in and check off everything that is listed to try to get some dialogue going. They want that Princess pin and they have one pin that you want that they know of so they are giving it a shot.

But you are right. I am finding that some people are putting a high trade value on the lanyard pins. Why?? Do they think of them as Cast Exclusive? I guess in a way they are. They are certaintly not worth a LE 1500 pin 1 to 1.

You can always remove the lanyard pins from your want list. Some people have 2 lists on Pin Pics. Their hard core traders and then the others. That is another option.

What lanyard pins are you looking for?? I have a couple. LMK.

Alot of people seem to think the time and effort necessary for go around hunting for these pins makes them worth more. If you are spending all your time in the parks just going around looking for lanyard pins then that is your choice. It should not affect the value of them. To me they are not worth going around from resort to resort.

I too have gotten offers like this. I just say "No thanks". To me a Figment head is not worth an LE1500.

Michael,
A few people who have the lanyard series feel it is a very hard series to trade and they treat them as an LE pin.
I was searching for the USA series this past trip and found a woman who had a vest full of lanyard pins and at least 20 of each in a book she was carrying.
She offered me the Daisy USA for my Swan Boat LE 1000.
I still don't have the Daisy USA pin. Peggie

But don't give up on the trade assistant!

And, don't assume that the other person knows the value of every pin.

Those lopsided trade offers can start a dialogue that lead to wonderful multi-pin trades.

I believe Figgy said that we will have custom messaging available with the TA in late October/early November. That should really adjust the picture for all traders.

And Peggie......
I know the person you mentioned....and she is not a good example of anything having to do with pintrading.

Since coming back from the event I've been getting more lopsided offers too. I have to admit that lately I have a lot on my plate so I've just deleted a few of them rather than e-mail back the standard "no thank you" message (in AOL you have to highlight and then paste your message before replying, so it's a tiny bit of extra work).

I mostly just let it roll off my back. I know it can really get to you, but think about how little it matters in the big picture. When I think about my whole life and what I want from it, and what I want for my family, and how to be a good person as a whole, things like the TA become very miniscule concerns. I've made it a point not to hold grudges or to let something bother me to the point that I'm thinking about it too much, unless it involves something that has a serious impact on me, my family, or my friends.

I know this isn't always an easy thing to do, and sorry if I'm being too philosophical...so maybe I should just say "Don't worry...be happy!"

I agree...the trade offers from pinpics have been ridiculously one sided. But I am going to keep mine turned on, because every once in a while a fair trade comes along. In the meantime, there is nothing wrong with saying no thanks.

Sharon,

Yes I too believe that in the whole scheme of things the TA is not that important. Two years ago we lost my 37 year old sister, after a long battle with breast cancer, leaving her young husband and her family to care for her then 3 and 5 year old boys. During the two years that she suffered I realized what is really important in life and not to sweat the little things. Sorry if you read my post and thought that I was loosing sleep over the TA, cause I am not. I was just expressing an opinion about it on the collectors board.

I'm sure that like many people, pin trading holds a special place in their hearts, as it is something that I truly enjoy. Especially since it was my dear sister who got me involved in it and why I maintain two collections for her boys. So, every once in a while I am disappointed when 6 of the 7 TA trades I recieve are lopsided that way.

Mike,

What I did is split my pinpics into to separate accounts (2 spearate names). One with just LE's and the other with TDS, rack and lanyard pins. It has cut down dramatically on the nusiance trade requests.

Hi Michael,

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, and I definitely didn't mean to take your post in any manner for which it wasn't intended. I was just trying to make you feel better if you were feeling frustrated.

Sounds like we both know what's important in life, and that doesn't mean it's a problem to do a little whining once in a while anyway!! I just did it myself about a pin swap gone wrong so I'm there with ya!
