I have stayed in all levels of WDW resorts and found all of them to be great....it all depends upon what you want.

Don't listen to your "Friend" You will be fine at the GF, just think of how great it will be to be on the monorail!

I am fortunate to say that I can afford to stay at any WDW resort when/how much I want to. Take a PP's advice, you just don't know people, some may be in debt at the GF and the millionaire may be at the Value.

I choose the value resort because I like Walmart too! It works for me and it's how I choose to spend my money. GF will be very different from the Values but you will have a wonderful time. Remember WDW is a family resort Destination! There will be tons of kids there and many families who are taking that once in a lifetime vacation at a fancy hotel.

I think that is so great that DH suprised you with a stay there, don't stress for a minute over it you will have a blast! And think about it... how many people do you see dressed in suits and ties walking around the theme parks? You will fit right in and have a magical time!

That is so nice of your DH to surprise you with a wonderful and trip.

Does your friend know that Disney supplies all the same food and sheets, towels, shampoo, soap, training etc etc to bothe value and Deluxe resorts. Sound like a little jealousy. The Floridian jut so happens to be on the monorail so yes a bit more expensive but unlike my family how often do most even get the chance to go to disney. So enjoy ever second of the wonderfl gift you have received and don't for one minute feel out of place. People at both place put their disney t-shirts, shorts and ears on all the same way. Line them you and you pick out who is staying where good luck.

I Was about to rant and rave about the way some people ASSume that only trashy people stay at values. To whoever has the friend that said the trashy statement please ask her;Did you ever learn the old phrase in high school when you assume sommething you make an ### out of u and me. We are going to WDW in DEC and staying at POP. Absolutely love it, we are bringing our nephews with this yea(so we will be traveling w/4kids)r and instead of getting one family suite somewhere else, we decided to get 2 connecting rooms. Right now we have the thought of why pay for a resort that we are only really going to be sleeping in. We are going to spend most of the time in the parks. Now when our DDs are teens then we probably would consider a mod or deluxe becuase we probably would not be in the parks as much....who knows? dont want to rush time, cross that bridge when we come to it. At least we have our trip for December all paid for, and not racked up on debt, thats how we like to plan our WDW vacation. It has to be paid off before we leave. We have the DDP & Park Hopper option. Your friend is not only jeolous of your trip, but probably that you have a wonderful & thoughtful husband.
