i don't get it - avoiding emh days

We went to EPCOT on a EMH day in April. It was a nightmare We met a couple that had been to WDW 35 times & they said EPCOT was the worst they had ever seen it that day. We found out when we got home there we over 90,000 people let in that day. It was F & G festival, a Friday, & Magic Music Days. We thought end of April would be less crowded. We were soooo wrong.

I love the AM EMH. During our last trip in January, I was not able to get my DW and DD out of bed in order to get to the park by 8. I on the other hand tend to need much less sleep, especially since I have to turn in when they do or wander around the hotel grounds. Anyway, I was able to get up early and head to the EMH park to ride the "big kid" rides while they stayed in bed. Then, after I rode everything I wanted to ride (ussually took an hour or two) I would head back to POP to get them and start our regular touring for the day. This worked out really well since DD is too small for the "big kid" rides and DW is too scared to ride on most of them. It would have been more ideal if DD and DW could have just met me at the park, but I think it would be impossible for DW to bring DD on the bus (with a stroller) by herself.

I've never gone for an EMH before so I am excited for our morning EMH next week!

I never avoid EMH days. I just go to whatever park I like on each day (planned well in advance) and just check wether I can stay later that day or not. I also have never been during the busy season, so big crowds have never bothered me. I don't think I've seen any major crowds yet.

I do not believe any hotel guests other than Disney hotels (Swan & Dolphin included as Disney hotels) can use EMH. The problem is that this is a lot of people!
The point about avoiding them is that if you are not there for the AM EMH, by the time you get there the park is packed b/c most people stay around. For the evening EMH, if you are not using the EMH then that park is packed in the evening for all those that were there that day plus those that are gearing up for the PM EMH. Point is, if you do not use the EMH, figure out which park had PM EMH and go to that park the next morning - it should be relatively less crowded.
