Sigh.....Disney just released their 'Winter Savings' for the general public stay dates: 1/1/10 to 2/11/10.....

* Save 30% at Select Disney Value Resorts
* Save 35% at Select Disney Moderate Resorts
* Save 40% at Select Disney Deluxe Resorts
* Save 45% at Select Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts

Use code SGG. Rates not available for all dates and resorts. Your stay will be priced on a day-by-day basis, so rates may be higher or not available on weekends. You must book by 12/31/09. For phone bookings, you pay a deposit of one night's room rate plus tax. No change or cancellation fee will be charged if you make your modification more than 5 days before arrival.

That's the same discount I received with an earlier pin code.....and I thought I was so 'special'. Humbug. :sad1:

ETA: I just don't recall people talking about getting a great pin code, only to have it released to the public a month later. Usually there is a significant difference between the two.....so Disney must be seriously hurting right now!

This happened to us last spring - got a PIN for free dining ... a week later it was announced for the general public! :sad2:

I guess at least you got first pick???

It seems as though in the past several months this has been happening, with the exception that the pin code is open to more rooms/resorts and has fewer black-out dates. One of the past posts said it was Disney's way of "testing" a promo to see how receptive people were to it.

Is it just me or does the buy 4 get 3 free deal better?

It all depends... do you have an AP... a deal on tickets/left over days... are you staying for fewer than 7 nights?

For us we saved over $400 by doing the pin code as I can get tickets through the princess 1/2 marathon and we are only staying 6 nights.

It all comes down to crunching the number for your particular trip.

I am sorry you don't feel special but I am doing the happy dance because we used the code and saved almost $200 off of what we were already saving with a CAA discount.:cool1::cool1::cool1:

The good thing about getting a discount first, is that you get a better pick! They only release a certain # of rooms on sale so when the sale price rooms are all booked, that's it.

As pointed out, you got first pick! You should be happy as I know several people who (like me) had to wait for the general code. On the Resort board several people mentioned could not get the rooms they wanted as none were available with the general code. We were able to upgrade to savanna from a standard view at AKL at a price lower than the CAA discount on the standard view, so we are good to go :cool1:!

After 6 trips to the World, we got a pin code once. Every other time we had to wait for a general code or use CAA. So if you did get a Pin, don't worry, you are still special (but for a limited time only :rotfl:).

Yes, I am grateful we got first pick. After waiting 20+ years to FINALLY get a 'special' email 'pin code', for some reason I thought it was supposed to be a better deal then any public code available, so I was a bit surprised to see the same IDENTICAL offer for the public that's all....

We've always waited for the public codes and when they weren't offered, tried to get the CAA discount......

In the end, I'm happy we're going and I'm happy others can benefit from this offer now as well.....:hippie:

I see it as you got first crack at it, without as much waiting and stress. We booked a bounce-back for next summers free dining. I won't be upset in the least if they announce our dates for the general public. I KNOW I have it now, can start planning (can't go without it) and can book my ADRs 180 +10 in advance. Pre-booking seems like a good deal to me!!!

Not only did we get first pick of resorts by getting a PIN code but we were also able to book our March flights out of Buffalo as soon as Southwest opened that booking period. If we didn't know about the deal until it went public our flights would have cost 2 - 3 times more $$$...

It's amazing you got a PIN code for the dates you were travelling! I've been getting them quite often but I'm never able to use them. Congratulations!
