I'm glad your phone works, but I still might take Apple up on their $199 offer. When you have problems with your phone, the first thing they do is look inside at a little piece that changes color if it has been exposed to water. If it indicates that it has, it voids everything.

As much as $200 hurts, it may be worth it for peace of mind.

I love dealing with Apple, when the sound button fell off my iphone, they apologized and gave me a brand new phone.

After thinking about it, I probably still will pick up a new one just for peace of mind. Now that my phone is working though, I can at least wait until after the holidays.

How do you take the battery out of the iphone? I can't figure out how to get the back off of the silly thing.?

don't take the back off your iphone if under warranty it will void the warranty.

The trick to drying out your phone is to NOT try and turn it back and AND to remove the battery. If you try and turn on your phone and you find it "acting weird" it's probably because it's got a short in it now.

DO NOT turn your phone back on until it is completely dry.

According to my husband, the trick to recovering a phone that went for a swim is to leave it to dry out completely before you turn it on again.

My niece and daughter have on separate occasions dropped their phones in the toilet (fell out of their jeans pockets when they went to the bathroom). Hubby opened them, patted them dry and left them open for a few days.

Eventually, the phones "succumbed to their injuries" but allowing them to dry them out gave them a few more weeks before they had to be replaced.

Hearing these stories makes me all the more determined to stick to cheap phones!

Do you mean send me a pm? I am of no help. My phone doesn't have moisture damage. (not yet anyway) My works just fine as long as I don't mind the slices it puts on my face when I try to talk on it. I can't believe the cost of fixing these phones.
Good luck with the rice. I have heard that it works really well with moisture damage. Not sure how it works with a broken screen. I may try it.
