I'm sorry but I will not put up this futuristic or Marvel bull that is coming into Walt Disney World I will just not stand for it. Isn't Pandora enough for you? Now this Star Wars is going to take over Hollywood Studios and that is just going too far. I thought I could put up with it but with new changes coming forget it. Disney World will be losing a fan and costumer :( I can't believe it the classic characters I love are being merge with this new era crap!.

I think you just changed Disney's mind. They were waiting for just one more online rant...

First, sorry you feel this way and you are most certainly entitled to your opinion.

IMHO any customers that might be lost to these changes will be far outnumbered by the many they gain. Change is necessary to stay relevant. (For proof, just ask the CEOs of Blockbuster Video, Woolworth's, and any major grocery store that doesn't offer online ordering and home delivery within the next 10 years.) Universal is slowly gaining ground and it would be irresponsible of Disney execs. to ignore that. The parks have always, and will always change. It's just a fact. You either roll with it or you don't. Hopefully you find a way to see past the things you're not fond of and focus more on the things you do enjoy in the parks.

ETA: I can relate to OP. I miss carburetors in the worst way.

I just don't want them to take the characters away...... or replace them. It will truly break my heart and not even the newest Disney technology will be able to fix it....

Heres the thing, the original Disney is NOT the Disney you know.

My parents Disney is different, my Disney is different, my childrens Disney will be different.

What I mean by this is that the Walt Disney World my Dad went to when he was a kid was completely different from the one I went to, and it will be the same for my kids.

It will always be changing. The "classic" or "original" things you have grown to love will be changed or replaced or added onto because that's how Disney keeps it "fresh" for new fans to enjoy. That's how it works.

It sucks to see some things come to Disney or go away. I'm not happy about Figment leaving but it has to be done. Ellen's Energy Adventure is as old as the dinosaurs now. Tomorrowland desperately needs to find a happy spot between future yet reality. DHS has needed an overhaul for years.

Again, it kinda sucks but it's also exciting to see all the new things imagineers are doing. I love seeing the collaboration between new technology and creativity.

You can only put paint on something for so long before it starts peeling.

Ever see a 10 year old see a phone booth or a pay phone for the first time, or heaven forbid a boom box:laughing:

I used to enjoy seeing the black and white little films on Main Street at MK years back and being so very disappointed when they were removed. And I personally loved seeing the Castle decorated all in Candy... oh the memories! :wizard:
But Times change, things change...
The new and current generally replace the old ...
Sorry ur so disheartened OP

I'm actually excited about future visits...( but not the crowds or add on $ transport options)

Disney like all business needs to move with the times. Star Wars, marvel etc is big demand these days.

I don't see why the new cannot live in harmony with the classic.
No business can survive stagnant.

Wait a minute.....did they announce about figment and I missed it. I thought that was rumour but not announced at D23.

You're absolutely entitled to your opinion, and it's unfortunate that you feel let down by the announced additions/changes.

However, you may feel differently when it's all said and done. There were MANY hardcore Disney fans (not the majority of the populace, but you know...the crazies who sign up for a Disney forum, haha), that were extremely disappointed when Pandora was announced. Some of those people changed their minds when Pandora was finished and they got to actually see, read about, and in some cases, visit, the land. So, give it some time. You *may* end up enjoying at least some of the changes announced.

This is a key point. If you think the parks are bad now for availability, there's a ton of people that are waiting, day by day, for the firm date of Star Wars Land's opening, so that they can book.

Change is inevitable, but OP, you have every right to speak with your wallet. Disney won't miss you or your money, but the principle has good intentions.

Exactly.

A good barometer for this would be crowd size. What was a "busy" day 25 years ago, is nowhere close to what a "busy" day is now. Once Star Wars Land and other things come about, I'm sure we'll see another adjustment of what a "busy" day looks like in Disney.

I like some of the changes. Don't like others. But keep in mind, Walt Disney was very much someone who believed in changing and making things better all the time. He was the first to do so many things...give sound to cartoons, make an animated full length movie, build a theme park like no other! But change is integral to that philosophy, even if we're not crazy about some of the changes. I hate the idea of the GOTG thing at Epcot, and I miss my Innoventions because it was part of my kids' childhood. But they run the show, and you have to take the good with the bad.

I agree with you.

They just put in Avatar, now Star Wars Land, now GoTG, then Tron.

Which is fine, hope people enjoy it, but I won't

Sorry you feel that way, I can sorta kinda see what you mean. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, I only watched the ones with Harrison Ford in them because, well they had Harrison Ford in them. I thought I'd hate all the Star Wars stuff at HS but I still get a kick out of the stage show and looking at all the stuff in the old Art of Animation Building. The good thing about WDW is that it's huge so even if some of the parks have things you are not thrilled with, there is so much more to see and do. Frankly, we ride very few rides any more, I'm not young and my son has permanent nerve damage in his spinal cord so all jerky rides are out for him so no Space Mountain, EE, RNRRC, we both get sick on the motion simulator rides and he's claustrophobic with bad PTSD so Star Tours and Mission Space are out. I don't do water rides because I'm not walking around all day wet so no Splash Mountain or Rapids. Still, we go twice a year and have been going since 1982, things have changed but we still find plenty to do.

I am pleased with all the announcements EXCEPT for the Guardians of the Galaxy ride in Epcot. No. Just...NO! And Disney's rationale for putting it there is the weakest thing ever. Just stupid.

I wasn't impressed with the GoG retheme of Tower of Terror at DCA either. I'm just not a fan of the movie...I thought it was awful. And I couldn't suspend those feelings while riding. I just don't care about that story, the characters, etc. BUT, since it is the start of a new Marvel land for that park, I can accept it.

But GoG in Epcot???? Terrible idea. And it isn't going to mesh well with the park as a whole and I swear, if they start the Marvel creep over there, I will be seriously pissed.

For starters to the post above me...how could you not be a fan of GotG??? I can understand not liking the idea of them coming to Epcot, but come on!!!

Secondly, with all the additions and changes coming over the next five years, I honestly didn't see that much in the way of classic WDW going away! It felt more like pluses than replacements.

Am I wrong?

My fault, I had the Dis and Disunplugged playing random videos in the background while I was working on stuff and must have confused a the "rumored" with a "confirmed" video cuz I was half paying attention.
