I did something stupid!

I just traded bat magic for a bunch of worthless teleporters. It makes me mad, because I am just too generous and trusting. I like to give things away, and I don't worry about getting the best deal, but I hate when I feel like I've been taken. I even asked if all the teleporters matched and was told that they did. Two sets of teleporters do match. The four coffin teleporters go nowhere, and the two golden Monster door teleporters lead to someone's store room.

It won't sour my mood long (in fact, I already gifted someone a bamboo room divider that he wanted to trade for), but I wanted to give a reminder warning to everyone.

I like to gift and give things for trade for less than they are worth, but I don't like to be taken. It's going to make me less generous in the future.

I am so sorry that this happened to you...being on the receiving end of the teleporter scam way back at the beginning of VMK that is one item I will not trade for unless I know the person and they are DIS.

What I do with teleporters are I ask the person to put them down for me to try to make sure they match. That is after having few pair of teleporters going to guest rooms of players who have not played for a very very long time. My daughter actually gave one stitch teleporter to a guest who wanted to be her friend so they can go to each other room. The person has set up a beautiful room that is friend only and has not logged in since June of last year.
I go relax in that room when ever I want to get away. Very zen, lol

I too have been traded unlinking teleporters. I usually don't care if they are buyable teleporters, but when it was gold doors, that upset me. I now have two gold doors that go to someone else's rooms.

I don't understand why people do that. Accidents I understand, but why would they want to do it on purpose. The gold door they have is just as useless to them as it is to me.

Thanks for that extremely generous offer, judimouse! Even if I don't find you, I want you to know that I really appreciate you making the offer. It has helped restore my joy in VMK knowing that there are other generous people out there.

I like giving things to others on VMK usually if I know that there are making them happy and they are thankful. I'm not that seriously into VMK and don't have elaborate rooms or rare/beta. I have given away more ice cubes than I can count, several crowns, and more. As long as someone makes an attempt at a somewhat fair trade, I will often say to take it for free. Or I will willingly take a bunch of junk if I get the sense that is all that the player has to offer. Maybe I've been played more than I know, but most of the time the player at least makes it look like they are very thankful for the trade.

In fact, maybe I should give this player the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he did mix up some teleporters.

That really stinks that this happened to you. I have had this happen way too many times. So now the only way I will trade for teleporters is to go to traders room and test them first to make sure they match. Sometimes certain staff will help you get the matching teleporters. I had a trade once that I got a pair of mismatched stitch teleporters and mismatched Big Thunder Mountain teleporters. I told the person I would report them if they did not match. He promised me that they did and told me a sob story about how he had been taken advantage of in the past so he would never do that to someone else. Anyway, after the trade I went to test them and they did not work. I went and found a staff member that was not real busy at the time, so he was willing to help me. He had me trade the teleporters to me and asked me to wait in his room. When he returned, he traded me back the teleporters, but this time they matched. Now not all staff are willing to do this...most will tell you to report it in contact us...this usually works too, but just takes a lot longer to get results.

I too have two Gold teleporter doors that lead to a friends room, whom I might say is not my friend! I won them in a colors game, I proudly went to my room and put them down and I walked into someones room, I was like oh great, then I tried the other door to see if it leads anywhere (thinking she just gave me the wrong match) and whala, I am in the same room again, So I went to find the girl that gave them to me, as well as messaged her and she has not been on since the day I won them. So I would go to that persons room every day and sit by myself waiting for the owner to show up! She finally one day does, So I say to her, Are those two gold doors over there yours (as she had three sets in her room). She says yes, I say great do you know where they lead, she says yes to my friends room. I gave them to her. I said well I played a game of colors and won and got two doors from so and so, they both lead here. Can we trade, I and she booted me out the door. I really dont understand it, they are of no use to her or me as they are now. I keep going back in to her room so that I may finish my sentence...would like two that work, dont you? I will continue to visit my storage room when I want to look at them and drop in on her too,waiting for the day she may come to realize that she would rather have two that work, just like me!

I also was scammed with the teleporters when I first started playing VMK...so no more teleporter trading for me unless I know I can trust them. Sorry Beth, some people are just wrong.

what i do is in trades i dont accept teleporters or you can jsut sell them for some big $$ not as much as you had before

Yes, I get that too. One time I kept asking "Do they match?" and he kept saying "Just look at them", well of course you can't tell if they match by looking at them, so I asked again "Do they match?" and until he finally said "look they are the same color". Then it ocurred to me why he misunderstood me, So now I ask "Do they link to each other?".

I've had people try to trade me one teleporter for whatever they wanted and when I would say they have to put up the other linking teleporter or no deal, they wouldn't undertand why I needed two of them.

I really didn't want or need teleporters, I was trying to be nice in giving him the bat magic. I just felt a bit taken when the things that he was giving me weren't even useful to me.

It's great to see that everyone here is generous also! I will keep giving things away for nothing or almost nothing. I guess getting taken is a risk I take. I think that there have been many more grateful, happy people.
