So I'm a bit of a ride chicken. To be fair I have awful motion sickness and even with Bonine I still experience some queasiness. When I was there a couple weeks ago though I went on Splash Mountain for the first time ever. My 6 year old really wanted to do it so I sucked it up and was surprised to find it really wasn't that bad.

Now I find myself wondering if there are any other rides that aren't as bad as I fear that maybe I should give a try.

These are the ones I've never done:
Star Tours (I have always avoided because I was told is similar to the old Body Wars)
Space Mountain
R&RC
Expedition Everest
Mission Space
Tower of Terror

I think those are the only ones
I haven't done. Space makes my sister sick and she hated ToT. My husband feels sick on Everest so those make me particularly nervous.

Just wondering if anyone else found these rides to be less intense or nausea inducing than they expected.

Thanks!

Just have to try them once...If you like it...you can go on it again...If not you don't!

After 4 trips I have finally conquered them all...some of which I will not be going on again (unless of course my grandchildren insist I go with them)!

You don't know if you don't like a ride until you ride it. Obviously the rides are safe so why not ride? There is only one roller coaster I swore I would never get on again. Georgia Cyclone at Six Flags Atlanta. It was so rough it hurt my neck and I had to leave early due to the intense headache. Me and my kids ride everything they meet the height requirement at WDW. There is nothing there too intense for even my 6 year old. She does RnR, everest ToT etc. Even my 4 year old rode ToT last year when she was 3 and loved it. YOLO.

I would avoid Star Tours if you have serious Motion Sickness - I don't get motion sick generally but that one makes me a bit queezy. ToT is fantastic - try it!!! I don't think it's motion sickness inducing at all, but again I don't have trouble with motion sickness generally. Though, I don't know anyone who gets sick on that one, honestly. Did your sister just hate it or does it make her sick?

Mission: Space Orange- No way
Mission: Space Green- makes me a little queasy
Star Tours- can’t do it unless my eyes are closed
Expedition Everest- only bothers me when it goes backward. I can handle it once per trip.

I love splash!!

I also love RRC and Everest (and really like ToT). Space is too jerky for me. I don’t like mission, and could go either way on ST.

All of the rides are your list are noteably more intense than splash mountain. Tot drops you multiple times so maybe you could work your way up to that. RNR that’s fast with a loop I would put that last on your list. Star tours is rough, though if you’ve survived the jolts of dinosaur I think you may be ok. Have you done any screen rides before? Space mountain is pretty bumpy and not knowing what’s coming next is what gives it the thrill.

The milder side of mission space you might be ok with. I found it very easy to do but I’m speaking as someone who likes thrill rides so maybe others have had a different experience. Everest might be tough for motion sickness since it goes backwards for a bit among other things.

I guess I'd have to ask her. She just mentioned how awful it was and that she would never ride it again. Maybe it was just too scary for her.

I get super motion sick, I take motion sickness tabletsbut often it does not cut it. Splash has never been an issue, nor tower of terror. Star tours I take meds and often feel a little queasy at the end but I manage fine. R&RC, mission space - nope nope nope, so sick. I haven’t tried Everest, but I plan on being brave and giving it a try next trip :scared1:

Unfortunately, everything on your list makes me motion sick. I have the least problems with Tower of Terror so if you want to try one new ride that would be my pick. For the record, I do not have any problems with Splash Mountain. In fact, it is one of my favorite rides!

ETA - Based on the conversation above, I get a bit nauseous on Tower of Terror with all of the up and down. If it were just one big drop, I could handle it. However, the stopping and starting makes me feel sick, even after I get off the ride. Being able to occasionally see light (at the top) doesn't help either.

Next one on that list for the mildest would be Space Mountain. It's a a very tame coaster as long as you are fine in the dark

...
Star Tours (I have always avoided because I was told is similar to the old Body Wars)

I felt mild/moderate motion sickness on Body Wars, and its about the same (for me) on Star Tours, maybe a bit less (i.e., ST makes me a bit less ill). I'd think the technology has improved, but it wasn't much better for me.

you rode Flight of Passage? How did you do on that?

With Bonine, the first time I had to close my eyes half way through. Then I felt off for about 30 minutes after but it wasn't unbearable. The second time I rode it, I found that focusing on something high on the screen, that wasn't moving quickly, helped a lot. It's when I tried to take everything in or look down that it made me queasy.

I get motion sickness and Star Tours triggers it. I haven't done Mission Space because I know the end result won't be good. :upsidedow

If you can handle Splash from a fear standpoint, though, you can do the others. I held off on ToT for a long time, but it's now one of my favorites.

I have issues with Star Tours and usually avoid it. When my family really wants to go on it i’ll go with them and keep my eyes closed.

Space can be disorientating enough to make me nauseous sometimes, but most of the time I am ok on it. It is fun enough that I take my chances with motion sickness.

EE and ToT are two of my favorite rides. I love them and never get nauseous. If you are not a fan of big drops you might want to skip ToT or save that to try later if you are feeling braver.

I recommend that you try all of them except Mission Space, which is particularly awful for anyone with motion sickness and/or claustrophobia.

1st time I went on Everest I got nauseous A friend who works in the pulmonary section of a hospital said to scream during the ride. It worked for me. Now I just have to tell the person sitting next to me that I will be screaming!

Curious, why does screaming change anything? TIA
