I am "blessed" with TWO, count them... ONE, TWO MILs....

MIL #1 (his mom) doesn't smoke around the kids. That's about all I've got.

MIL#2 (his step-mom) is virtually always available for emergency childcare, takes the kids to movies, showers us all with gifts at holidays and birthdays and even went so far as to decide not to sell her house so "her boys" would still have access to the "shed" (a huge 3.5 car garage that FIL basically turned into a mechanic's garage, complete with car lift) after FIL passed away. She's even told us she'd keep it until our DD graduated from HS so we wouldn't have to change schools. DD just started Kindergarten this year.

Wow, it might seem obvious which MIL I prefer.

My MIL makes awesome custom outfits for my DDs, like the twirly skirts with ruffles and tiers. And a gorgeous quilt for our bed. And she is so much less crabby now that she's retired and not working full time + farming + milking cows 2x a day.
