I could just cry!! Budget related

Just got back from Walmart. I just went ahead and picked up a new pool. It was 248.00. The price of the liner plus shipping would bring the total price up to 200.00 so for fifty more dollars we got a new pool. I so want an inground pool but first it's expensive and second theres really no place to put it in. I mean we could but we'd have no yard! We're planning to build a new house on land in two years, maybe then we can add an in ground pool.

Now I just need to get up and take down the old pool. Hard labor sucks!

I think that you made the right choice to go ahead and buy a whole new pool. Afterall, there may be something else wrong that you are not aware of. At leaast this way, you will not have any worrys and will be able to enjoy the pool all spring/summer long...Once you get it up!!

We have an Intex metal frame pool that we haven't put up in two years because we hated messing with the chemicals. I found a salt filter at Target last August marked down to $75, so I bought it and we are hoping to use it this summer. After reading this, however, I'm worried that our liner will not be in great shape after being stored for 2 years!! My cousin has a salt filter on her above ground pool and my kids LOVE it--doesn't burn their eyes! We are hoping ours works out well! I'd just buy a new liner if I were you. $150 divided over a couple of years (if it lasts) isn't that bad.

:( Mice seem to *adore* intex liners. After a winter of storage in our garage, our liner literally looked like swiss cheese. I was telling my brother about it and he said the same thing happened to his! Mice!

Isn't that what brings all of here "a pair of Mice":lmao:

We built our inground pool ourselves to save a few bucks.... actually a few thousand bucks. with the money we saved by doing it ourselves we paid for stone work materials, saltwater system and robotic cleaner.

Our neighbors paid 42k for 18x14x6 it was done in a week or so (fiberglass)

We built our 20x40x10 for 17k (once we added all the previously mentioned upgrades it was close to 30k) but still if you can do it yourself and save a few bucks, whats 12 months of weekends, nights and few trips to the hospital:idea:

Although my at the time 12yo DD driving a tracked skid steer with a bucket of concrete down into the hole for my DW and I to trowel out is still quite the memory in this house (she raised it too high and some splashed out onto her noggin) or my wife out there with a laser level during our excavation telling me how much more to dig down...priceless....

If anyone is interested this is where we bought everything http://www.nationalpoolwholesalers.com/

Careful though....I talked about one day to my DW.... took a nap a few weeks later and woke up to her and DD spray painting the outline of it on the lawn! and it all started........

We have an inground pool in Cincinnati, OH. We put it in 3 years ago and when we filled it, we called the water company and only had to pay for the water portion and not the sewage treatment of the total water used. It saved us quite a bit. That may be a local thing, I am not sure about your area. It may be worth a phone call though. Good luck!

I was going to suggest the same thing. I think when my sister built her in-ground pool, she called the city and told them she was filling a pool and they gave her a special rate.
