I comfort mattress

Dh and I finally started looking for a new mattress (after 18 years) and a local mattress store we decided we like the I Comfort Inception. The local store's price for a king set is $2200. But I'm now looking to see if I can get it cheaper some other place. The idea of spending that much for a mattress is scaring me.
Has anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, that seems to be an exorbitant price point. I googled it, and it seems JCPenny has the lowest price at $1,400.

If you can't find it cheaper, think of the cost this way.....

Mattresses are supposed to be changed out about every 10 years.
A $2200 bed, slept on for 10 years (3650+ days) is ~$0.61 cents a night....
Is your good night's sleep worth that?

Also, ask if they are having a Labor Day sale and is the mattress included.

When we bought our iComfort, I found the prices to be consistent anywhere we went. I was told the price was set by te manufacturer, and they weren't allowed to discount prices when I asked. It's kind of like buying and Apple product. Only a few places are able to sell at a discount (Sam's Club, Costco, etc), and their discount is very minimal. What we found were placed piggybacking bonus products. We wound up with a free 42" Sony LCD TV and a couple of pillows with ours.

Be prepared ... The mattress stinks to high heaven when you get it. We didn't sleep on ours for 5 days after delivery. It's fine now, but man it stunk so bad when brand new.

We have the Tempurpedic memory foam and it's pricey also, but we've had it for 14 years and we love it - still does it's job. Am not familiar with the brand you are talking about, but sure can vouch for the one we have being well worth the initial cost.

The way it's going we will get several more good years from it.

We looked at the I comfort but ended up buying a generic memory foam mattress instead from a local mattress company. We spend less then $600 for it, we figured even it the generic brand only lasted half as long we would come out ahead. We were able to lay down on each mattress in the store to see how they felt and the generic was more comfortable for us then the I comfort.


There is NO was I would spend $2200 for a bed...

Everyone has a different comfort level so you really have to try out the mattress in the stores to see what they feel like.

Just some info
The mattress we received was the same comfort as what we tried out, ie what was delivered felt the same as what we tried in the store.

This mattress was touted as a "Green" mattress made without some of the more toxic chemicals. It did have a noticeable lower amount of out gassing then other products I have had.

We are several years into owning the mattress and it has not changed ie broken down yet.


Not saying you will be able to find this actual mattress in your area but these are things to look out for. One issue that bugged me about the I Comfort mattresses (and most all name brand) is that they do not disclose the type and thickness of the materials used. This makes it difficult to compare products.

A good mattress is expensive, but worth the cost. We had purchased a mattress set at Sams Club 5 years ago and it broke down after about 4 years. We didn't want to put the money out for a new mattress, but it got to the point where we couldn't stand it anymore. When we went looking for a new mattress the salesman told us we needed to find out if the mattress had a warranty. Sure enough it did and Sams took it back no questions. So after getting our money back we still spent a little more than the mattress you are looking at. We got a Beautyrest Black Series and I tell u I do not regret spending the money. We broke down the cost into nights based on the warranty. It came out to 36 cents a night and sleeping well and no joint pain are worth that.

That's funny, I was just mattress shopping yesterday and the iComfort is one that I am considering. I like that they have 25 year warranties. The two types I am looking at are the Visionary EFX and the Everfeel. This weekend (and even now) Serta is offering the box spring for free with the mattress. JCPenney's does seem to be the best on price right now. They are on sale plus you get to take an extra 10% off. They also offer 120 night test period. Mattress Firm offers 100 days. Sealy makes an all foam mattress with it being called the Optimum series. They were good mattresses too. There are also hybrid mattresses-they have coils but also a thick memory foam and cooling gel layer on top. Makes them less expensive but the warranty isn't as good. They were pretty comfortable but I think I like the all foam because there is no movement on the rest of the mattress when one person moves around on it. Now I just have to take hubby on Saturday so that we can decide which ones we like the best.

I'd always argue that a mattress is worth spending some cash on. You spend a third of your life on it, use it for recreration, and its form can have a serious impact on your physical condition (causing spine damage, aches and cramps, etc.)

Having the same mattress for 18 years is wild. The general thoughline for new mattresses is every 5-10 years, based on your age, type of mattress, and its quality. When you amortize the cost over that long of a time period, it's really not that much. Especially when you consider the factors mentioned above.

I follow the same logic for office chairs. Some people may widen their eyes at a chair that costs $1k or more, but if you're spending 6-8 hours a day in it, suddenly it becomes an investment in health and comfort.

I don't know anyone who replaces a mattress every 5 years not disagreeing that it makes sense to buy a good one or they should be replaced more often than most people do. Mine is well over a decade old and I'm not considering replacing it anytime soon.

I am not familiar with the I comfort,but do know quite a bit about Temperpedic. I have fibromyalagia and have been a nurse for 20 years. When I went looking the salesman was very knowledgable. I first tried the Cadillac bed and it was amazing. I then laid on all of the other ones and was sold on the first one. Mine has head up/down with legs up/dpwn and 4 massage different cycles. The memory foam mattress must be 4-6 inches thick. In Oct I will have had it for one year. After 1 week of sleeping in it my life changed along with my pain. I felt like a new person. I am a sleeper so 12-14 hr nights are not unusual. I paid $5,000. BUT it was the best $5,000 I have ever spent and I would do it all over again. The warranty is amazing. As a matter of face both of my girls love my bed and we do spend a lot of time in my room reading.watching Netflix etc. It is our favorite room in the house. $2200 is very reasonable!!!!

He's content on buying from first place, but I have to price compare to make sure we're getting best deal. Wish I could find a deal with free tv, I'll keep looking.

Ask them if they'd throw in two pillows, at least. My DH is of the thought that all things can be haggled for in some way. Once you get them to the lowest price, ask for something to go with your purchase.

New TV? Ask for an HDMI cable to go with it.
New Car? Ask for an extra key fob, or the slats that go across the roof.
You get my drift?

We have had an iComfort for about 2 years. We love it. I can't remember the exact model we have but it is one of the softer ones. It was about $2K for a queen. It is well worth the money. We are both so spoiled that we hate sleeping on other beds when traveling etc.

We bought our iComfort mattresses a couple of years ago and love them. However, we bought a "floor" model that had been used in a bedroom set display. It was covered with bedding so if anyone sat on it, it was protected. It saved us a ton going that way. Just a thought.
