there is a tropical storm Arlene that is just west of Florida in the Gulf Coast. That is not good. How much of it will we really see/feel? I go on Sunday for a week. :sad2:

Not sure about what the weather will be like, but you need to start monitoring your airline for any changes or announcements. If you don't see any on the web, then call. We flew into FL during Isabel and as it was fast approaching Washington DC, the airlines were offering folks the opportunity to leave a day early with no penalties because they worried the airport would shut down. Good thing we did, because it did happen that way. Good luck and be safe!

Well, if you are in Orlando on Sunday, you will doubtfully see or feel any of it. It is coming straight towards Pensacola (where I am) :umbrella: and it should be within 100 miles of us Saturday morning at 8am. It will porbably hit us Saturday afternoon or evening so it will move ashore quickly and dissapate. If you are flying to Orlando Sunday morning, there might be a problem because of the weather. Hopefully it doesn't clobber us because we are still recovering from Ivan...... I hope you have a great trip and I hope it doesn't interfere with your plans! :wave2:

Most of the rain is on the east side of the storm. Our local meteoroligists here in Louisiana have been watching it and have said for the past couple of days that it will most likely go in around the Mississippi/Alabama border and everything to the east of that will get the brunt of the rain and wind. It won't be a hurrican though, so that is good. If it is moving fast enough then most of the rain should be out of the central Florida area by Sunday night IMHO.

Although you may have some issues associated with it. . ie, rain, travel delays. . .It should have minimal impact. The gulf coast is much more likely to see problems than Orlando.

"Tropical storm watches are now in effect for the east-central Gulf Coast from Morgan City, LA to Indian Pass, FL. Tropical storm warnings remain effect for the western tip of Cuba, the Isle of Youth, and the Dry Tortugas.

Arlene is a lopsided system at this time with little or no areas of rain near, west of, or south of the surface low-pressure center but significant t-storms with heavy rainfall to the east and north of the center. Therefore, expect locally heavy rainfall to continue over western Cuba and into South Florida.

Arlene is expected to be steered northward into the southern Gulf of Mexico on Friday, and could make landfall along the east-central U.S. Gulf coast Saturday. While some minor strengthening is possible in the Gulf, the main impact of this system appears to be the threat of heavy rainfall, especially north and east of where the center tracks. "

Hang in there.

Right there with you. :) I was just watching the weather channel and noticed Jim Cantore is here. I've always heard that wherever he's sent to - that's where the storm is coming.

Our rain and wind started late last night and got worse today. It seems to be letting up on the rain, anyway, still quite the breeze though. But that's all Orlando should get too. Also, I have not seen any lightening or heard any thunder, so that may help anyway.

Hey - good luck - hope it's a slow night for you! :)

Any updates on what it is doing in WDW? - I know of 2 families who left today (Friday) for their kids first trip to Disney World from Pittsburgh - I am hoping it moves quickly. Does anyone know what happened to the webcam at Epcot? I wasn't able to find it on the net.

Good luck to everyone in Arlene's path, our prayers are with you that all will be safe.

Observations from Gainesville here, north of Orlando. It's been cloudy and somewhat windy all day, but minimal rainfall. It looks like a lot of the rain is falling down in southwest Florida right now. I've been outside a lot today and I saw a lot of the cloud bands passing over, but they weren't dropping much rain. In fact it hasn't rained at all after dark tonight.

I think we'll miss a lot of it, and what does hit will pass over quickly.
