last night i was going back from the movie theatre with my friend shanna, and our friend steven was driving infront of us. we could see a lot of flashing lights about a mile down the road, so we called steven. he said there was a wreck. it was about 10 pm. shanna and steven and i all thought we were just one redlight apart, but really, we were two. so when we turned (because he didn't want us to see everything) we turned one redlight too soon, and ended up coming out right next to the wreck.

never have i seen so much carnage.

it looked like an expedition had been crushed. steven told me it was upside down. i could see people lying on the ground, and there were three ambulances and eight police cars. i could see around thirty people just standing there. probably ten to twenty paramedics running around trying to find people and help people. a trailor had pulled up to block the view for rubberneckers, but i could see quite a bit. shanna didn't see anything, but steven and i did.

i want to say that the people on the ground were alive, but i honestly don't know.

i want to say that everyone was okay, but jesus. with that many paramedics and that many poliece officers, i just don't see how anyone can be okay.

we went to baskin robbins, where my friend emily was working. she was leaning out the drive through window watching it all. she said her coworker, anne claire called 911. its crazy how the closer you are to the center of it, the less you really know. everyone in baskin robbins (and there have NEVER been that many people in baskin robbins) was saying different things.

emily said the wreck was right before we all showed up, because cops and ambulances were still coming to the scene.

from what i've pieced together, and what i saw, an expedition was t-boned by another car (idk what) and flipped and rolled. the collision was on the passenger side (i don't know if there was a passenger or not) and the expedition was crushed.

the crash was at a very very busy intersection probably 9-9.30 pm on a saturday night.

guys, please pray for those people who were involved and their families. i know i've been praying since i saw the lights.

and please, please, please be safe when you're driving. that could have been any of us.

Will do. Check your local news station/paper web site, they will most likely have an article on the crash so you can know what happened.

ive already read today's paper. it didn't say anything about it. probably because it happened so late and the papers had already been printed. i've not heard anything on the radio, but to be honest, i don't listen to it.

its really scary.

life is short.

I'll be sure to keep them all in my prayers and thoughts.

I will definitely keep those people in my prayers.
That's terrible! :sad1:

Of course.

I'm so sorry that you had to see that, though.

honestly, i'm kindof thankful that i did see it.

its really sobering. and i know that, at least, shanna and i will be safer behind the wheel now. shanna was driving at the time. (i hate driving. i don't even have a car) and she kept saying, "that could've been me." and the scary part is that it really could have. that could've been shanna with me in the passenger seat, or that could've been steven, or that could've been anyone. its terrifying.

but, life is short. and you have to actually live it. you can't live in fear of being in a car wreck or anything like that, you just have to live. you can be safe, you SHOULD be safe, but in the end, thats all you can really do. be safe.

Yeah things like that really make an impression on you.
On my way up to college (my dad was driving) we passed a really bad accident but only one car was involved, and we could see everything.
It really makes you think.
Like you said life is short, and we have to live each day to fullest.
The family and people involved are in my thoughts.
And to all the TB drivers please please PLEASE be safe while driving. I lost a good friend to a car accident and it's a terrible thing.

Thanks for actually making this thread, Shelby.
I was just having an argument with my mom about how I really didn't need to follow the "one non-family member in the car at a time" law, and when she told me that if she found more than one friend in the car with me she'd take away my driving privledges, I was actually really mad, because I thought that nothing bad would happen if I broke that law like everyone else.

But this just brings me back to reality.
As teenagers, we all pretty much have an inviciblity delusion in our minds. Bad things happen to other people, never to us.
But irresponsible driving is really serious, and driving shouldn't be taken lightly.

"teenagers are bullet proof."

tonight, i was almost in a wreck. it wasn't my friend's fault (she was driving). this woman came around a curve really fast, and didn't yield, like she should have, and turned right into our oncoming traffic, on my side. she was INCHES from my door.

my friend who was driving swerved into the opposite lane, to get out of her way, but the lady just did not slow down.

geez.
im still kinda shaken up.
