I Can't Do That! I'd Be Too EmBEARassed! A Nov 2015 TR New PTR link 10/13!

I wouldn't have thought to do a character meal on a solo trip, but I know there are several I want to go to, that the kids aren't interested in. Due to the cost, I don't make them go to a character meal. So, I guess a solo trip would be the best way. Glad you were able to get someone to take pictures.

I didn't even know about those pins at the resorts.

This was my first year and last year of course of seeing the lights. As someone who does their own Christmas lights display I was in awe really. I couldn't believe that was the only time I would get to see them.

Glad you had a good meal I've heard some not so good things about Hollywood and vine lately.

I think I read about those pins on the Disney pin blog.

The Osborne Lights are just amazing aren't they? I don't think I will ever look at another light display the same way again.

It was very good but then again I have simple tastes.

Love the trip report. I've been following along, but not commenting. Looks like HDDR was a blast--glad your pictures were found!

Love the pin from Boardwalk--do all resorts have special pins, or were these special holiday pins? I definitely don't know the deal with the pins!

Love your holiday photos too! Glad your solo trip had lots of dismeets to make it special!

Welcome and thanks for commenting!

HDDR was one of the best times I've had at WDW. I had so much fun that I tried to fit it in our trip in two days but I couldn't.

That set was a special holiday set. Every resort had one. They were all mittens like that but had different characters on them. I do think that many of the resorts have pins specific to them.

Love the pin you bought, so cute.

Love all the Osborne Lights photos.

The backdrop with Goofy is nice! Great picture :)

All the character pictures are beyond adorable, their outfits are awesome! Glad to hear the food was good as well.

Love the stuffies you purchased!

Thanks, I got some even better pictures of the lights later that week.

I loved all of the Holiday outfits that the characters were wearing at H&V. I love seeing them in unique costumes.

The lights look amazing, it's so sad they're going!

It's good to hear your good dining review and I'm sure people didn't mind taking your photo :goodvibes

They are beyond amazing and it really breaks my heart that they won't be back again.

I'm not so sure about the lady at the table next to me but she did take them in the end.

LOVE your pics from the Osborne lights. I can't believe it's over :( I am SO glad Mom and I got to see them together once more. I read on a blog or somewhere that even though the contract is up on the actual Osborne family's property, Disney has added (and owns) SO much of the display that they really might make use of them somewhere else--maybe even send them to Disneyland. My hopes are low, but maybe, JUST maybe we'll see them again somewhere!!!

Glad you were able to spot D~, Suzi and Bradey again. This was my first trip with a DIS meet and I once we met, I was looking for you guys all over the place :) It was just an added bit of fun to know that my new friends were here right in the middle of the magic with me!!

I'm not holding my breath for the lights to be moved anywhere either. I just think they are so specifically designed for that area in HS that it would be hard to move them elsewhere. But I do hope that Disney replaces them with something else even better (if that is possible).

I do the same thing when I know other people are there! It's amazing how often you do run into people considering how large WDW is.

I love the view of Tower of Terror from the Friendship boat. The backdrop of the sunset would really make it look nice.

Your character meal looks fun. We were at the Cinderella Happily Ever After meal at the GF and there was a single female dinner who was having a great time getting pictures with the characters. I would guess that this happens a lot, especially if a spouse refuses to dine there.

TOT is a beautiful sight when you approach on the boat, I love seeing it.

I was somewhat uncomfortable but then I'm a bit on the shy side and definitely an introvert. But I still had fun and enjoyed the meal.

Great update! Love the pics from the character dinner. You're right -- their holiday outfits were absolutely adorable <3 !!

I love seeing the characters in unique costumes so it was a lot of fun!

Your pictures of the lights came out amazing!! My trip feels like such a blur! Wish I had had more time to explore. We also really enjoyed Minnie's Holiday Dine- the characters were adorable and the food was fantastic- I agree about the decorations though- for $300 they could have a Christmas tree squeezed in somewhere or lights or something!!! Lol

Thanks! I got some even better ones later in the week. Yep, not much in the way of decorations in the restaurant!

What a great DIS meet/ride on TT! Looks like a fun car!

I'm sorry about the dud Pluto meet - especially with all of your Pluto Christmas gear on. But the pictures did turn out really nice!

I love all of the Osborne Lights pictures. We were in the same area when the lights turned out and it just took my breath away. I could have spent another hour just wandering around!

I'm glad you enjoyed the food at Minnie's Holiday Dine. I've read mixed reviews but we really loved the food! And that's great that you found people to help out with the pictures!

We did have a lot of fun riding TT all together.

I do like the pictures from that Pluto meet and greet even though it was a quick one.

I did spend a lot more time wandering through them later in the week.

oh oh oh! I adore the Christmas outfits!!!!

Yes, we tried to find each other but the crowds were crazy. We probably walked past each other too and didn't know it!!!

They were sooo cute that's for sure!

We might have walked by each other. I could barely move and I was by myself. I don't know how you kept track of your family in that craziness.

I loved seeing your Osborne lights photos - it truly was an amazing thing for us to see them for the first and last time. I've heard rumors that they are going to open them somewhere else - but I am not sure how true that is? :scratchin

I'd forgotten that you were able to see us in line at DHS... I was able to eat one of the clementines, but not all of them - I ended up leaving them for housekeeping - I hope someone enjoyed them.

The holiday outfits of the characters at your meal were really cute!!! It's a bummer that it was difficult for you to find someone to take your picture - but it looked like you were able to, so that's good. I love all of your pictures! :lovestruc

D~

I would be surprised if they move them because from what I've read they are pretty specifically designed for those buildings. So it would be hard to place them elsewhere without tons of modifications. I do hope Disney adds something new for Christmas to replace them.

I did find someone but you know me, a little shy and worried about making someone mad by asking.

I wouldn't have thought to do a character meal on a solo trip, but I know there are several I want to go to, that the kids aren't interested in. Due to the cost, I don't make them go to a character meal. So, I guess a solo trip would be the best way. Glad you were able to get someone to take pictures.

This was the first time I considered it. Mainly because I really wanted to do the new meal there. It was a bit awkward but I did get through it.

Alright folks this will be the last update for a while as I leave for Disney on Thursday! It's a pretty short trip so I didn't do a full PTR but I did write up a quick synopsis that I will post after this update. When I get back I will be writing two TRs at once so this one will probably slow down a little.

I’m Way Too Competitive for My Own Good

On Monday, November 16th, I was meeting up once again with Mo, Suzi and D and their entourages for morning EMH at Magic Kingdom. We would also be joined throughout the day by Monica (tatar63) and Bernadette (Lovesdumbo).

I was up at 5:30 and made it to MK by 7:30 am. Once again I was the first person there. Being solo and having a bathroom all to myself had its advantages.

Oh but before we talk about MK, I finally remembered to take some pictures of my decorated window. I went simple this time mainly because the window clings were annoying me the day I was decorating. I had more but ended up just taking those back home.

And here’s the view out of my door. Looking to the right and back towards the Broadway section of the resort:

Straight ahead:

And to the left and towards the front of the resort:

Even though I was on the back of the building I actually had a bit more traffic than expected as people cut through to the Broadway section. Also that turnaround straight ahead was used by the luggage delivery people and I heard golf carts at all hours of the day and night. It did wake me up the first few night but eventually I got used to the noise and was able to tune it out.

Alright, back to MK. It was a beautiful start to the day although it would end up being the hottest of the trip.

As you can see I had a great spot for the Welcome Show. It was a bit modified because the train was down for renovations. But I still enjoyed it as usual and took a bunch of pictures.

I loved the Christmas costumes.

The characters just came onto the stage from the train station since they couldn’t ride the train in.

I tried to take a picture of the fireworks at the very end but I forgot to zoom back out. I think this shot turned out pretty neat even though it was a complete accident.

Everyone else was still making their way to the park so I decided to head to Tomorrowland for a spin through space before meeting them by Buzz Lightyear. I was pretty excited to see the double-decker bus out. One of these days I will slow down at rope drop and ride one of the Main Street Vehicles!

I joined the crowd headed down Main Street. I have affectionately dubbed this early morning rush as “the running of the strollers” because you always have to be on the lookout for that family barreling down Main Street on their way to see Anna and Elsa.

I made it to Space Mountain fairly quickly and entered an almost empty queue.

I always have fun on this ride!

I headed over to Buzz Lightyear and found a bench where I waited a few more minutes for D, Suzi, Bradey and Monica to show up. I think Mo and family stopped for some PP pics along Main Street.

We headed into the Buzz Lightyear line which was also still a walk on. Since we had five people, I immediately declared that I was riding by myself. I am just way too competitive to give up any control over that joystick! And how did I do this time through? Not too bad but definitely not my best.

I swear I have the same exact expression on my face in every single Buzz Lightyear photo. Total intense concentration.

D had a meet right after our Buzz ride so she went to do that while Bradey, Suzi and I got in line for the Tomorrowland Speedway. Monica didn’t want to ride so she stayed off and took some pictures. This ride always cracks me up because I can never control the car. I don’t have the pictures so if you are reading along and would like to post them Monica, please go ahead.

We met back up with D and headed to Fantasyland to ride Dumbo, one of my favorites. Once again I don’t think Monica wanted to ride so she stayed back and I rode with D.

D is amazing at taking selfies so she snapped these as we flew through the sky.

Next we headed towards Fronterland and BTMR and Splash Mountain. We split again because D and Monica wanted to ride Splash Mountain. I know I’ve mentioned before how much I dislike water rides so I followed Suzi and Bradey onto BTMR. There was a small wait but it wasn’t very long till we were riding through the wilderness. I got this cute picture of Bradey & Suzi before we took off.

Thanks for posting the pictures of Pop Century from your room. The resort looks amazingly clean. :)

I got this cute picture of Bradey & Suzi before we took off.
This is the best picture of them that I have seen, maybe because it is a closeup of Bradey and he has such a cute smile in this one. :)

D is amazing at taking selfies so she snapped these as we flew through the sky.
Dee is definitely the selfie queen. ;)

Here’s a brief synopsis of our upcoming trip. Sorry there are so few pictures but it takes me too long to find appropriate ones among my thousands of Disney photos.

Going on the trip with me is my DH Jim. Here we are on our last trip together which was during May 2014. Gaston wanted me all to himself!

The trip dates are Thursday, January 28th through Tuesday, February 2nd. We will be staying at Caribbean Beach. Last time I stayed there was in 2012 with my Mom. Jim has never stayed at this resort.

I’ve requested the Jamaica section and near transportation because we will be bringing our breakfast and won’t need to go to the food court very often.

Jim is nowhere near the Disney fan that I am. He has come a long way in the last few years but I am super careful when planning these trips in order to keep him happy. Most of the plans revolve around what he likes to do and where he likes to eat. He picked all but two of the restaurants for the trip. We originally had this trip planned for May so we could do Star Wars Weekends. Jim loves Star Wars and well, I do too. We saw the new movie on opening night. Needless to say, when Disney cancelled SWW we were both bummed. Jim suggested moving the trip to January so it would be cooler weather. The fact that he actually suggested moving the trip rather than just canceling shows how far he has come in his liking for Disney. Let’s move on to our day to day plans.

Thursday, January 28th

Our flight on Thursday is at 11 am and I’m a little stressed about making it to the airport on time. Here’s my timeline for the morning:
7 am – 7:30 am – Drop off the dogs at the “doggie spa”. They open at 7 and I plan to be there even a little earlier than that so I can be first in line. Filling out the paperwork usually takes about ½ hour.

7:30 am – 8:15 am – Drive to Jim’s workplace to pick him up. He is planning on going in for a few hours (he normally starts work at 6 am) so I will need to drive down there to pick him up. We are leaving one car at his work. I’m hoping that 45 minutes will be enough time but it will be in the middle of Atlanta rush hour(s) so it could take me longer.

8:15 am – 8:45 am – complete the drive to the offsite parking place that we use. Jim will be driving at this point and he’s a crazy driver so I’m pretty sure we will make it in a ½ hour.

8:45 am – 9:15 am – wait for and take shuttle to the airport.

Once we get to the airport it will hopefully go quickly. We do have to check bags but we both have the TSA Pre-Check and can go through the much shorter security line.

As you can see, it will be a very tight morning and I won’t be able to relax till we are at our gate and waiting to board. I do hope to grab something to eat before boarding but we shall see.

Our plane lands at 12:30 pm and we will proceed to the DME to catch a bus to our resort. I may grab a bite to eat if I didn't get anything in Atlanta but most likely I'll wait till we get to the resort. If our room is ready we will head there to drop off bags. I’m sure we will have to pause for a few minutes for Jim to fire up his computer to answer an e-mail or two. He is way too dedicated to his job for his own good.

Once we get settled, we will be heading to Epcot for the afternoon/evening. Epcot is Jim’s favorite park and he requested two different restaurants here. So I figured we could do one of those on our arrival day and the other on our full Epcot day. I do have three FP+ booked:

11:20 am – 12:20 pm Figment – an obvious throw away since we will still be on the plane at that time.
4:05 pm – 5:05 pm Spaceship Earth – We should make it in time to use this one but it may not even be necessary at that time.
5:05 pm – 6:05 pm Test Track – definitely plan on using this one as it’s one of Jim’s favorite rides.

Anything else we get done that night will be bonus. After the Test Track FP we will head back towards Germany for dinner at Biergarten at 6:35 pm.

We ate here in 2013 and Jim loved it. Me, not so much. I can’t eat pork due to some stomach issues and I really don’t like sausage. I had a hard time finding stuff to eat the last time. But it was what Jim wanted and I want to keep him happy.

I think we will head out after dinner so we can get settled in our room and get to bed a little early. I’m sure we will be tired after our early morning and travel time.

Friday, January 29th

We will be heading back to Epcot for a full day. We really only have 4 full days so I’ve planned one for each park and did not get hoppers this time.

FP+ for the day are:

9:15 – 10:15 am Finding Nemo – this is probably another throw away. Jim is not a fan of the Seas building so I don’t know if we will even make it there.
10:20 – 11:20 am Character Spot – Jim loves character greets even more than I do so I’m sure we will use this one.
11:20 – 12:20 pm Test Track

Our main goal when we get to the park is to head straight for the Baymax meet and greet that was recently added near the Character Spot. They are also adding a Joy and Sadness (Inside Out) meet in the same area but I think we are missing it by a few days.

We will definitely ride Living with the Land and see the new Pixar movie in the Imagination Pavilion. I’m sure I will drag Jim on Figment too. Lunch will probably be at Sunshine Seasons and then we will head back to explore the World Showcase for the rest of the afternoon. I am going to try to catch some meet and greets as we walk around. Belle is high on my list because I’ve never met her.

Dinner is at Jim’s second Epcot pick, Rose and Crown in UK at 6:20 pm. This one I’m perfectly ok with mainly for this beauty.

That is a Scotch Egg. Basically they take a hard-boiled egg, wrap it in sausage and deep fry it. Surprisingly I don’t really even like hard-boiled eggs or sausage but when combined, yum!

I don’t know how long after dinner we will stay. I’m not a fan of Illuminations and neither is Jim so we will probably scoot out before the show is over to beat the crowds.

Saturday, January 30th

This will be our Animal Kingdom day.

Jim is definitely not a fan of AK but I’m hoping he will like it a bit better this trip. Last time we were there together it was 90 degrees and humid. We were kind of miserable.

The park actually opens at 7 am for morning EMHs. Jim is a morning person so I will have no problem getting him there by 7 am. I might have some trouble but he is up by 5 am pretty much every morning.

FP+ for the day:

9:10 am – 10:10 am Safari
10:30 am – 10:50 am Festival of the Lion King
11:50 – 112:50 am Mickey & Minnie Meet

You’ll notice no Dinosaur or Expedition Everest there because I plan on knocking those out during EMHs. I don’t know if Jim will ride EE with me or not. He’s a bit of a ride wimp and really did not like it last time.

I don’t know if we will even use any of the FP+ at this point. I think we can probably get everything done that I want to do before 11 am. I do want to try to meet Safari Donald, Pocahontas, Tarzan and Flik if we can. Lunch will probably be at Flame Tree or maybe Pizzafari.

I expect we will head out of the park right after lunch and back to the room for a break. The afternoon is up in the air. If Jim is grumpy at all I might suggest he take a nap. Or maybe we will head to one of the miniature golf courses. I’ve never done that and we have a free round through our package.

The evening will be at Disney Springs for shopping and dinner at Raglan Road at 6:45 pm. I wanted T-Rex but for some reason could not get a reservation. But I showed the Raglan Road menu to Jim and he seems excited. For me it will probably mean back to back fish and chips dinners thanks to my pickiness.

Sunday, January 31st

Sunday we will be heading to Hollywood Studios for morning EMHs which start at 8 am. I guess Disney has now made TOT the symbol of HS since the Earful tower is going away. I saw a new four parks shirt for 2016 that has TOT to represent HS.

Our main goal at HS is to explore the new Star Wars stuff. I think we will probably still do the TSM dash as we both love that ride but then we will head to Launch Bay. Jim is super excited to meet Chewbacca and Darth Vader. I did some shopping at our local Dollar Tree and bought some trinkets to trade with the Jawas.

We have a very early lunch at 11:05 am at 50s Prime Time, once again Jim’s pick. I made the lunch fairly early for a reason but we’ll get to that in a minute.

Afternoon FP+ are as follows:

1:30 – 2:30 pm Toy Story Mania
2:55 – 3:55 pm Tower of Terror (another of Jim’s favorites)
3:55 – 4:55 pm Star Tours. I will not be riding this one as it makes me sick. Jim will probably ride twice using my Magic Band the second time.

I also would like to take Jim to see the Frozen Sing-a-Long sometime during the day. He is obsessed with that movie and I think he would enjoy the humor in the show.

I want to eat dinner fairly early, probably right before or after the Star Tours FP. I’m not sure Jim will even want to eat at that point but I will need to get something solid in my stomach before our evening activity. I’m hoping to head to Backlot Express because I want to try the Dark Side Chicken and Waffles. Maybe we will even share a meal if we are still full from lunch.

At 7 pm we will be headed to the Symphony in the Stars Dessert Party for the Star Wars fireworks. Jim is not a huge dessert fan but they also have some savory choices. I’m looking forward to trying one or more of the alcoholic drinks, the Darth Vader peanut butter/chocolate cupcakes and enjoying a private area to see the fireworks.

HS closes at 8 pm so we will head out after the fireworks.

Monday, February 1st

Finally I will get to see this beautiful sight as we are headed to MK for the day!

Jim picked the FP+ for the day so we have:

10:00 – 11:00 am Space Mountain
11:35 – 12:35 am 7 Dwarfs Mine Train
1:30 – 2:30 pm Haunted Mansion

I hope to start the day with Peter Pan since Jim has never ridden that one. Then head to Fronterland and Adventureland to get in as many rides as possible until time for our SM FP.

Lunch is at BOG at Jim’s request. I had to work a bit to get a reservation since we booked well past the 180 mark. But I was finally able to snag a 12:35 pm ADR. I will be having another one of these.

After lunch and our HM FP, we will probably try to hit up some meet and greets. I want to try to catch Jesse & Woody, the Fairy Godmother and the Tremaines for sure. Jim might want to meet Gaston again.

Dinner is at The Plaza at 6:10 pm. I really wanted to try the new Skipper’s Canteen but one look at the menu and both Jim and I said no way. Just too fancy for either of us. But burgers and fries at The Plaza will be perfect.

Wishes is at 8 pm and my plan is to watch the show from down near the train station, then exit the park right after. MK is open till 11 pm but we have a ridiculously early wake up time the next day.

Tuesday, February 2nd

We have a 9:30 am flight back to Atlanta so that means a 6:30 am pickup time by DME. Yuck! But Jim wants to work a ½ day so we needed to head out early. Once we get back to Atlanta, I will drop him at work and then go pick up the doggies. The rest of my day will consist of grocery shopping and laundry. So very exciting.

And that folks is my plans for this short trip. I will see you on the other side!

Woohoo Disney in a few days! I wish I was going back.

Plans look great! I loved the Star Wars fireworks.

I've been following your trip report but haven't commented yet. I will be in the Magic Kingdom on Feb 1 as well. Our 7DMT fast pass is from 12-1!

Your decorated window looks so cute.

Love the welcome show pictures! And such cute selfies on Dumbo.

Sounds like such a fun morning so far, you got a lot done!

The plans for your upcoming trip sound great! I hope you and Jim have an amazing time and can't wait to hear about it when you get back!!

Nice update! Great Welcome show Pictures! I would love to see that someday but we are not early risers so it's not likely.

Great that you could meet up with everyone again today, fun ride pics.

Your upcoming trip looks fun from your plans, can't wait to read about it.

Biergarten is one of our Favorite places, I am not a fan of sausage or beef and while I do like pork, I have always been able to find lots of good things there.

We will be staying at Caribbean Beach.
I enjoy CBR. Many people say it's too spread out, but I love the theme, the quietness and I don't think it's too much walking.

Filling out the paperwork usually takes about ½ hour.
Any way you can pick up the paperwork early and fill it out in advance??

TSA Pre-Check
TSA is totally work the $$ if you can afford it--we love it.

I had a hard time finding stuff to eat the last time.
We went to Biergarten in November and they had lots of variety and even had a carving station that had beef and turkey, so hopefully you can find something you will like. If not, just get the pretzel rolls!!!

Jim is definitely not a fan of AK
Maybe he'll like it more when it's not as hot. I've come to appreciate it more over time.

I saw a new four parks shirt for 2016 that has TOT to represent HS.
Someone posted the runDisney shirts and they had ToT as the icon so I think this is it for now.

bought some trinkets to trade with the Jawas.
What do the jawas trade with you? Cool!

Symphony in the Stars Dessert Party for the Star Wars fireworks.
Wish they had this in May when I'm hoping to take my DS for our birthdays!

Skipper’s Canteen but one look at the menu and both Jim and I said no way.
I'm not as picky as you, but I looked at that menu and wasn't thrilled either.

OK, since I was so late commenting on your last trip, I thought I'd get in on the next trip at the beginning! Have a great trip!

Have a good trip. The parks have been super busy recently, so doing things early is definitely the way to go, we got far more done in the first 3 hours then the next 5 or so at most parks this past week.

I'm also all caught up, the Minnie's dine looked like a lot of fun.

This ride always cracks me up because I can never control the car. I don’t have the pictures so if you are reading along and would like to post them Monica, please go ahead.

I love getting to MK first thing in the morning!! SOMEDAY I hope to ride one of the Main Street Vehicles but we always tend to either miss them or I simply can't wait one moment to head down Main Street, USA :)

I'm so jealous you get to head back so soon after your last trip!!! Have SO much fun!!! Can't wait to read how the adventure goes and see how many devil horns appear in your pictures!! :rockband:

Yay, it looks like I was able to post pictures to the Dis!!! I am loving your TR Ariana :yay:. It is fun to be in one.
I love the story about Zach getting MO with the Beverly, my DH and I enjoy stopping by and watching for someone to try it:smooth:
After seeing your photos of the Hollywood & Dine w/Minnie, I am adding it to my "Disney bucket list".
The Osbourne Lights are soooo beautiful, I really hope they can find some way to move them:love:.

Enjoy your next trip and safe travels!!!

Monica

I always have fun on this ride!

it looks like the guy in front has a bit of spittle coming out!!! I know it's the background but still funny!!!

I am just way too competitive to give up any control over that joystick!

Not saying ANYTHING...

I got this cute picture of Bradey & Suzi before we took off.

I LOVE this picture!!!

I can’t eat pork due to some stomach issues and I really don’t like sausage.

Pretzel bread!!! LOADS AND LOADS OF PRETZEL BREAD!

Jim loves character greets even more than I do so I’m sure we will use this one.

Holy crap.

I saw a new four parks shirt for 2016 that has TOT to represent HS.

No Kidding! I'm sure until the lands are finished!!!

I did some shopping at our local Dollar Tree and bought some trinkets to trade with the Jawas.

Explain!
I have not read a lot of the new stuff going on in disney as we are NOT going this year!

I also would like to take Jim to see the Frozen Sing-a-Long sometime during the day. He is obsessed with that movie and I think he would enjoy the humor in the show.

you must.

’m looking forward to trying one or more of the alcoholic drinks, the Darth Vader peanut butter/chocolate cupcakes and enjoying a private area to see the fireworks.

I seriously cannot wait to hear all about this..

The rest of my day will consist of grocery shopping and laundry. So very exciting.

sounds like a party

First up was a Christmas Stitch.

Ahhh, HE'S SO CUTE!!!! I can't get enough of Stitch. He is my Pluto.

Oh but before we talk about MK, I finally remembered to take some pictures of my decorated window

Haha, I just bought myself the Minnie stocking that matches your Mickey one. I think we're going to decorate our window this year. I love looking at all the personalized rooms.

It was a bit modified because the train was down for renovations.
Is the train down at least once every year?? It was down when we were there October 2013 as well.

Hope you have a great quickie trip!!!
