So, I thought I planned WAY in advance. After tons of research, I got a pair of Teva sandles. I have been wearing them around the house for weeks. Just last week it was warm enough to wear them outside and OMG...did they HURT!! I tried many different things, but they just rub the wrong way.

We leave on Sunday and I am at a loss of what to do! I really dont want to wear tennis shoes because my feet get SOOO hot. I have a bunch of Croc flip flops that I love, but I dont know how my feet will feel after a long day of walking!

Anyway...just needed to vent!!

Hey, sorry about the teva's. The same thing happened to me. I researched so much and got the teva's (one of the more expensive versions-can't think of the name now). I thought I was all set for the trip. I wore them some before the trip and I thought they would be ok. OMG-they were not good for me on the trip! I had pain even though the straps were cushioned and I just didn't feel enough support on my ankles with all that Disney walking. I almost did not pack my sneakers-but thank god I did. They saved me! I wound up wearing them the most. I didn't care if my feet were hot in my sneakers. I was getting blisters from the Teva's the few days I wore them (I was also using moleskin and bodyglide!). I just made sure to bring the teva's/flip flops if I was going on a water ride or if the weather report called for rain.

I'd say to bring your tennis shoes no matter what! Have fun!:goodvibes

Sorry you are having problems with your tevas. I must say, I love the plain old, least expense Teva Mush sandals (the ones with the fabric staps and mush bottoms). I have never had a single blister and wore them all week at WDW. I have bought a couple of pairs of the more expensive, fancier Teva sandals...and can only wear them for a limited amount of time. I always get blisters when I wear tennis shoes, because my feet sweat too much. As a last resort......I wear my good old, goofy looking Mickey Crocs.

FWIW, DH and I have logged many, many miles at WDW in the past few years with our Nothinz (another brand name very similar to Crocs, but a big squishier) and swear by them. And we both have back problems, and I tend to get serious foot pain in the wrong shoes. These shoes rock! :)

I always end up taking different shoes and then wearing my sneakers because they are the most comfortable shoes that I own. My husband gets frustrated when I pack because I take up room with shoes that he knows I won't wear. LOL

Same thing with me. I feel your pain op. I have yet to find a pair of shoes/sandals that will take me through a day at WDW. I have an old pair of Born sandals that I always pack just in case and I always end up wearing them. I have recently lost quite a bit of weight and now those sandals are too loose on my feet. My quest remains to find a comfortable pair of shoes before our trip next year. My family actually makes fun of me out there in the stores trying on everything before each and every vacation..

I would wear the tennis shoes even though your feet get hot.try wearing thinner socks

My feet get hot, too, but I wear sneakers at WDW. I tried wearing a perfectly comfortable pair of sandals last year and I was so happy to get back to the room and switch back to my sneakers. Just not enough support from the sandals--and they didn't hurt, like yours do.

My feet hurt just reading your post!

Just make sure you have ultra-comfortable socks. If you bring an extra pair or two of socks with you to the parks, you can change during the day.

I had considered wearing Tevas when we go to WDW, but after ordering them...I really didn't like them. I've finally given in to DH and decided to get Merrell sandals instead. All the ones I've tried on so far have felt wonderful on my feet. I'm still looking for a pair I can't live without (style wise).

After researching TEVAs I realized that there are many different styles for many different foot types. Some of them really do look exactly the same, but have different functions such as extra arch support, extra heal cush, water wicking..etc...

I just purchase a terra fi 2 sports sandal from sierra trading post. I selected them because I have planter fasciitas and the description boasted of good arch support and extra heal cush. They arrived on Wednesday(today being friday) and I wore them around the house that night and on Thursday. This morning I took a 5 mile walk in them to see how they did and they were far more comfortable than my tennis shoes. I also have a pair of Mush flip flops and they are quite comfey too.

I read thru many descriptions of TEVAs and some didnt sound quite right even though the style was the same. Pay attention to the special features of the shoe, that may help.

I would recommend wearing athletic shoes. You get more support and protection. If your feet get hot you can get shoes that are made for running. They are well vented and light weight. You can also get running socks, they wick away moisture which is what makes your feet hot. Third you can spray your feet with aerosol anti-perspirant. It must not be deodorant though.

Last year, someone here on the DIS recommended Keen sandals for my trip. I
bought a pair and can tell you I never once got a blister or had a problem
with comfort from the moment I put them on! Unbelieveable shoes! I wore them at WDW for 11 days without any problems.
HIGHLY recommended!! :goofy:
