My DH was talking to her over the weekend, and I heard him say "what happened to your eyebrows?" She wouldn't answer him, so I came in to investigate. Well, she took my tweazers and plucked them (she's 10). The biggest problem with her new look is she plucked the middle. So now she has holes in the middle of both brows. When she asked if she was in trouble, I said no because I can't think of a worse punishment than to go to school like that.:)

I overplucked my eyebrows when I was a preteen as well! LOL!!! Thank God they grow back!! Your poor dd at school.....;)

When I was a little girl I plucked out ALL my eyelashes and eyebrows! I looked like a mutant:scared:

:o That is funny, you poor thing.

I shaved mine off once and attempted to 'draw' them back on with a black permanent marker.

At least it grows back...:teeth:

Oh no! Make sure you take a picture of them to show her the reason to never do that again!

That was a classic Seinfeld episode! :p Elanie drew them on Jerry's Uncle. :teeth:

I'm sure your daughter was trying to pluck, but sometimes these things are no laughing matter! Have you heard of this? http://www.trich.org/about_ttm/intro.asp
I know a little girl who went through treatment for this. :(

A guy on my ex-boyfriend's old hockey team had that. Right before a game he used to pull out his eyelashes and eyebrows...very sad, but very surprising to look at him! You don't realize how weird people look without eyebrows until they don't have any.

When I was 10, I cut my own hair. That was punishment enough!

Awww....hopefully they'll grow back fast :)

She overheard me tell my DH that I needed to make an appointment to have my brows "done", I'm sure that's why she did. I have explained to her that I don't even pluck my own eyebrow. I prefer to leave that to the professionals.:)

I have a 13yo niece who does this to her eyelashes. She cannot quit and I am hoping her mom will get her the help she needs. Thanks for the link!

My DD did this when she was about that age. I think it's just curiosity. She also plucked in the middle so I took an eyebrow pencil and shaded in the hairless parts. I taught her how to do that and then I taught her the correct way to pluck eyebrows! If she's determined to mess around with it, I figured she better learn to do it correctly.

She has heavy eyebrows and it's always bothered her. Now her paternal grandmother takes her to have them waxed.

You're kidding, there's actually a *disorder* for this? I didn't know it was that common. Interesting.

Go to google and type in Trichotillomania and see how many hits you get! I even got one here! :( Seems to be more widespread than I imagined.
I "think" it was Oprah where I first heard of it.

I've heard of the symptoms before, but didn't know they were actually attached to a "disorder" related to OCD that could be treated. Very interesting.

At least she didn't shave them off.... Not that I would know anything about that........
THank GOD for eyebrow pencils!
