I can't believe this

:sad2: I just got a phone call from my TA saying that the flight I have booked for Sept 29 is now cancelled. Just like that-cancelled! I can re-book for Sept 30 and add a day on the end to leave Oct 7 instead of the original Oct 6. So, I called WDW about my hotel reservation. I can add a day but, I don't get the free dining AND I have to pay more for the room because it will no longer be value season. I said, "But, I am checking in during Value season." The CM said that it is now considered a new reservation, so no luck.

I hope I don't sound too sucky. I was very fortunate to get the free dining plan in the first place, but I just feel like venting.

Now I have to change my ADR's too. :scared:

Thanks for listening to me whine.

I wish you had seen my face when I read your post! :rotfl2: I never thought about that. Let me make some calls and see!!!

No. It won't work. I guess because it is low season, they just can't fill any planes. The only one that we can take is on the 30th.

What airline? You can get a refund and book on another airline but you'll lose your rate.

Call back and see if you can get a different CM that will extend your reservation, not make a new reservation. What you were told doesn't sound quite right.

I would call back too - you should not have to suffer because the airline cancelled on you. I do not see why you would not be able to get a refund on your airplane tickets and just buy new ones - same day. Where are you flying from? What airline cancelled on you? :confused3

You are technically not adding a day but changing the dates. I would call back and explain to a CM what the situation is - I would explain that you are not trying to extend to get extra free dining days but delete day #1 and make it day #9 instead.. As long as you checked in prior to October 3rd you got the free dining and as you are well before this it should still apply (maximum 10 nights). I was able to adjust my reservation from 7 days to 10 days w/o a problem. If you get no where with the CM you are on the phone with ask for a supervisor.

Also did you take out the trip insurance? The way I understood it you were not penalized for changes after the payoff date if you paid for the trip insurance (not sure on this but worth checking into if you did.)

If they will not let you do any of above then ask them what would happen if you checked in a day late on the reservation? If you leave the reservation as is and don't check in until the 30th what are the consequences - can you do this? This way you could still get the full amount of days for free dining and check into reserving a room for 1 night - the last night. Even though you would have to pay for an extra night at least maybe you could work the credits into it by not using any on day 1 - as you would not have checked in yet.

Just thinking out loud as to options??? Hope this helps and Good Luck!!!

Could you fly out of Buffalo? SW still has $115 R/T available for your dates. N/S flights.

Thanks for everyones ideas! I am on hold with WDW right now. The CM said the computer won't let him do it, so he is talking to someone at guest services to see if there is anything they can do.

That sounds like a great idea, too! If I can't work something out with WDW, I will look into that. We live in Toronto, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem. My TA said I would lose my trip insurance, though. I will have to ask some questions about that as well!!!

SW doesn't pay any TA commissions, most TA's won't book them. You may have it book it yourself or pay a service fee to your TA. I don't know how much longer SW will be running this sale. I wouldn't wait much longer if you want to go that way.

SW will give you a full credit if you don't take your trip, you have a year to use it. You might not need trip insurance for your airfare.

Canadian trip insurance could be different but in the US the trip insurance is just for a certain value and for certain dates, so if you find another airline and keep the same dates, at least in US the trip insurance would still be valid. Also usually if the airline cancelled and doesn't have an alternative within 2 hours they will refund your money.

I agree, if this was a package from Disney, and part of the package was changed, not by you, Disney needs to accomodate you and give you choices on what can be done. They were the ones who sold you the package. If the flight was sold to you separately by a travel agent, then it might be a different story though. It might actually be better to cancel the whole thing and rebook it, if that's possible. That way it would still be considered one reservation, with checking in during value season. You could look into seeing if it was possible to book another trip just the way you want, before cancelling the current one. If the free dining offer is over though, you might be stuck with the choice of either having to add on one more night without the free dining at regular season price, or just shortening the trip by a day, if you want the free dining.

Keep everything the same... same dates... same PSs... Make your own flight reservation or MUST you book the flight too with the TA?
