I have now sold and brought over 400 things on ebay and never had any problems. I have been going through a little selling splurge of late as I am trying to save the money for our Disney tickets.
I sold some chair covers on Monday last week for over £200. The buyer needed them for a wedding at their venue this Saturday so as soon as they had won they paid me and I posted the parcel as promised as soon as I received notification that I'd been paid from paypal. By the time I got home just over an hour later I had an email from paypal saying that they were investigating the payment so the money had been taken out of my account and that I shouldn't post the item. I'd had contact with the buyer so I called them to ask what was going on, as far as they were aware there were no problems but they appologised and promised to get to the bottom of it and call me back. In the meantime suspecting I had been scammed I contacted parcelforce to ask if I could stop my parcel and get it returned to me. They said they could but I would not be able to claim back the £30 postage. Obviously I would rather loose £30 then £200 so I recalled the parcel. I called the buyer to tell them this and to let them know if they could get the money to me some other way then I would post again using parcelforce next day. My DH even offered to drive the covers to them to ensure they had them for Saturday. This would have been an 8 hour round trip for him so he asked for £100 to cover his petrol and our lost £30. They refused. A day later I got another email from paypal saying the money had been returned to the credit card and the payment was cancelled. However today I received an email to say that they are now trying to make claims against me saying that I have stolen their money and not posted the item as promised.
I have all the proof through paypal that I have not stolen their money but this just makes me feel bad and makes me wonder if paypal are as trustworty as they make out.
