I LOVE Disney trip planning as much as the next person --- but this is crazy.

Last year, we lost our flights in the Midwest debacle and had to get new flights for new days and new times --- only a few hours of the trip had to be replanned so it wasnt big drama.

This year I have had our whole trip planned out months in advance ---and I find out yesterday that our flights are gone. We cannot get flights out on the days our trip was planned, so I had to move the days. And then for the best deal, the trip got moved back 6 days --

Well all of you planners know what that means --- starting ALL OVER because you can only go to certain parks on certains days, etc

I just had to vent -- maybe next year I just wont plan!

What airline messed you up this time?

That has to be unlikely bad luck. But, at least you are going to be headed to the Happiest Place on Earth to take the sting away...

Midwest the first time

Allegiant Air the second time

Luckily I did find flights for 6 days later for a decent price and I am somewhat flexible with what days I take off-- but still.

One good thing though, husband felt bad because I was so upset about it -- he said I could upgrade to the deluxe dining plan! :)

your flight debacle seems so scary...sorry that all of your plans are messed up!

With luck like yours...I'd consider a road trip next time. Then you won't be held to an airline schedule. (We ALWAYS drive the 14 hours straight thru).

Is that a possibility?

Allegiant Air has cancelled all flights to Orlando during the months of October and November.

I see you got new tickets, but did you see Milwaukee International now has Southwest? They were running a 3 day special, $39 one way. I priced out tickets for the dates we went last Nov. and with taxes it came to $89 round trip.

I can't wait to download the ding on my computer with Southwest.

I saw that --- one of the big things to save money this year was to try and fly out of Appleton though. Hubby and I live only 5 minutes from the airport -- we can take a taxi and not have to pay for a hotel or parking which is a huge saver!

Hi emmaleigh47,

I am glad you were able to figure things out, even though it sounds like it was a mess. We were caught up in the Midwest crap last year too.

We live in Neenah, but have always chosen to fly out of MKE anyway. (We usually use Magical Express, so flying into Sanford would make more work/more expense for us). One thing we like to do is stay on a park n fly deal the night before we leave. That hotel cost is barely more than parking in the outlots would be...and we get front door drop off & pick up at the airport. Just food for thought for the future. But I admit, the drive home does feel a bit long sometimes.

We are flying Airtran again this year. Buying our tix early does mean our flights often change, but I don't mind. You can buy the cheapest flight on the days you are flying and when it changes (it almost always changes)--you can call and get switched to the flight times you actually wanted.

Neenah! Wow you are just down the road...

I did find a flight out of Appleton for cheaper than MKE which does go into the MCO airport not Sanford. DH thinks that this is a much better deal --- and no rental care for us now!

Guess that's why I fly American. I've never had a flight move more than a few minutes

I'm sorry this happened! At least you are able to switch vacation days, and having such a giving husband rocks! :thumbsup2 I've flown Allegient Air before, too, and with their rates, there almost isn't room to complain, as much as you want to! Let's just hope this is all the "bad news" you'll have on your trip & it'll be one of the best ever!!:wizard:

Oh man! I was bit by Midwest last year when they canceled two out of three flights out of MKE to LAX and there was no room on the last flight. Luckily, Airtran picked up the route and offered it at really cheap pricing and I was able to book almost the same flight for a little less.

We are currently on Midwest for our annual NYE trip for $250ish RT. That was a great price out of Madison for that time of year (it's now twice as much) and we jumped at it. BUT ... I missed that Midwest has joined the Skyteam Alliance and I am afraid that our flights will go to hell in a handbasket between now and December. I guess there's nothing to do but keep an eye on it with fingers and toes crossed!

Do you know why? I was planning on using them for a flight this November. Guess I had better budget more for airfare than I was counting on. Nuts!
