I can't believe the availability left for Christmas!

we are considering changing resorts to AKL and I was checking to make sure we could eat at Jiko as I haven't yet made an ADR, not expecting much I plugged in Christmas Eve, availability! The put in a few more dates - all dates were available at different times. Of course there are lots of rooms available too - looks like it will be a quieter Christmas than normal!

I know I got exactly what I wanted for Christmas day at the perfect time for me. I am pleased as punch. It was my second choice. I expected to get my fifth choice if I was lucky but I got my second pick. WOOT

Rats! Now I just need a really great bonus cheque so that I can go for Christmas. What a waste to have nice restaurants without us to fill a table ...! I tried so hard to see if I could squeeze in a quick Christmas trip but realised it would be pointless anyway because it would be too late to make ADRs (Christmas dinner at Backlot Express would be a little depressing )

Quick Christmas trip from Scotland would be tough.... (I'm a born Geordie myself - now Canadian). I can't believe the difference from two years ago in regards to availability - it's nuts. However, the prices of rooms over Christmas are crazy, we are lucky we were able to snag free dining but that's over now and you had to check in by the 17th. I think the price is what is holding up bookings in this economy.

Now that would be a little bit of Christmas pixie dust! Still haven't made a firm commitment to the switch to AKL (big bucks over POR), still have till Sunday as final payment day to decide. We currently have CG so if no Jiko we still have a great ressie. We are at Le Celler on the 20th Dec. I was very lucky, getting up at 1am MST (took me two hours) but I got all the ADR's I wanted, all around the time I wanted.
