I Can't Believe I Invited My MIL -I'm BAAACK! And determiend to finish this thing!

Skittles probably wouldn't have the effect that you would want!

As for the elevator story.
*the screen swirls as we are transported back in time*

...

This all happened before I had my morning skittles. :scared: Now any time we are going somewhere with the IL's DH strongly suggests that I take my daily allotment of skittles.

:rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I needed the elevator story this morning...wish my MIL had that much spunk!!!

Oh my gosh - were we separated at birth??? Love all the stuff we have in common. Now just get some precious red Mary Jane Crocs for your princess and head to the World in November...I'll teach you how to make the tees, and we're all set!!!

Sounds like a deal! :)

So tell us more! More shopping? More pictures? What are you wearing?

I totally agreed with you - loved that story!!

Sounds like a deal! :)

WHat am I wearing? You mean I need clothes, too?? :lmao: Seriously, though ,I've been concentrating so hard that I have given one thought to what I will wear. HELP! WHat SHOULD I wear? I usually just wear jeans/capris and a layered shirt of some kind (we always go in Nov. and Feb., so you have to be ready for anything weather-wise), and I always bring my pink Jiminy Cricket hoodie (it is the only Disney thing I have ever worn!). But this year I got all into the matching stuff (Blame it on the DIS - yeah-yeah). (That was a Milli Vanilli reference for all my friends no lucky enough to grow up in the early 90s). SO I do have one tee to wear on the first MK day - with Jiminy on the front and "Momma" on the back.

But what about those other days?? Help me out, girls - what you all wear?? Let's talk about it!! :grouphug:

You are so funny! I just started reading this morning and now I am hooked!!! I am making t-shirts for our trip next month, I have to say it becomes an addiction requesting more and more designs from those ever so gracious designers! I have Mickey crocs that I only wear at home around the house. I actually bought a pair of the MaryJanes and ened up returning them because I knew I probably would not wear them out enough to justify it. DD 18 months wears them all of the time and they do look so cute on little feet but not so sure about mine ;)

Tell me about these gracious designers of which you speak.... Have I foolishly, and needlessly, done all the work myself??? :sad2:

Let's see some pics of the tees you are making!!!

I just found this thread and can certainly relate :rotfl: ... I too did the "unthinkable" and invited my MIL last year (2006)... I thought I was doing a nice thing since she had never been to WDW before and had always wanted to go and had always heard everybody talking about it ... so I figured it's WDW :cool1: , the happiest place on earth, how can anyone be anything but happy here! :goodvibes ...

So we decided to make it a family affair and I also invited my mom and dad (they went with us the previous year (2005) and we all had a great time :goodvibes ) ... so there we were, the five of us: me, my DH, my DMom, my DDad and my MIL ... so I planned and planned and made sure I had our itinerary just right and all our ADR's made 180 days in advance and all the cute little matching extra travel items bought and ready to go (i.e, umbrellas, ponchos, luggage tags, etc.) :surfweb: ... well, long story short, within 24 hours of arriving at the most magical place on earth, my MIL had me in tears :sad1: ... we were in the AK parking lot and I was like, oh my gosh, how could this be?!, and we still have 5 days left!! :scared1: ... so I took hold of myself (thank goodness for my mom :) ), and said ok, I was the one with the great idea to invite her :guilty:, we knew what she was like and capable of, just suck it up and don't let her spoil things ...

So in conclusion, Was the trip a total disaster? ... no ... Did it have it's moments :scared:? ... yes ... Am I happy that I did it? ... maybe ... Would I do it again ... definitely NOT!! ...

Good Luck and enjoy your trip!! :goodvibes

You're scaring me, Chick!! :scared1: Where is my good friend desiab with the SKittles when I need them?? Just kidding! I know MILs and vacays don't often mix. My MIL is a nice lady though - not a mean bone in her body. She and I just have some different ideas about things, and she can be quite stubborn!! I am sure we will butt heads a few times on the trip (well, duh!), but we will only be arguing in our heads. We've never actually said a mean word to each other. SO I might explode at the end of the trip (or before), but at least there won't be any shouting matches. But you never know, good readers.... Stay Tuned!!

Adorable!! I could totally do those name ones... Hmm...thanks for the idea!!! You rock - and so do those designers! :cool2:

I tease about my MIL, but I think that we have a pretty good relationship. How could we not since she is forever making me laugh.

WHat am I wearing? You mean I need clothes, too?? :lmao:

Not if you are going on a trip without the kids! :rotfl:

:thumbsup2 You and I are going to get along well. My husband and I were just singing one of there songs in the truck. My kids didn't have a clue who we were talking about.

I fought the Croc obsession as long as I could and I bought the ballerina ones in black. These babies barely leave my feet and I can't wait for the walking in WDW . :cloud9:

Being nice will get you in trouble every time!

I'm here! *jumps up and down, waving hands*. I was reading earlier and decided to open up my trusty Photoshop program and make a rainbow graphic. Well after I got started and had put the words on I was afraid that people would take it as a double entendre and didn't post it. :rolleyes1 Not ready for points from the moderator.

Oh, my. I am so out-crafted here. I need my hand held to make tshirts and now there are people who design them??? Um, I can make a really good gin martini! There's my life skill for you!

Since you already know or will soon know all the my crazy planning, why not tell you that I actually went to see Milli Vanilli! Yes, I did! I think I was 15. And if I remember right De La Soul opened for them.

And yes, you need cute clothes and one really, really clever tshirt. You can come up with one, I know you can!

I actually find these to be not only UN-hideous, but downright precious. They scream WDW to me.

I have those in Red and Grape, they are unhideous to me as well. Check out the new Alice model, very cute. I have those in Ruby Red.

My kids all have Disney Crocs for our upcoming trip :cutie:

Oh, thank goodness!! I thought maybe you'd deserted me - JK!!! Now hand over a Skittle....I got nervous reading that post...:rotfl:

In my opinion, the ability to make a good martini trumps any craft skill one could possibly possess....Can I have a vodka one, very dirty, please??

And can you help me come up with a clever slogan for my tee? How about "i'm with MIL?" pointing at MIL? I am sure everyone will sympathize with me in that one. I'll probably get free fast passes or something. HAHAHA

I like that Alice model! I could not talk THE PRINCESS into them, though, because it only has one hole, ergo she could only use one Jibbitz. And how can one choose between Ariel, SNow White and Minnie?????? :sad2:

OK, so one more t-shirt design..is that ok? Are we bored with those yet? Oh, well. Just scroll on past this post, if you must...

So, you saw THE PRINCESS' tee graphic, next up is Buzz's shirt. This one was a bit tougher. See, the Princess Posse was a no-brainer for THE PRINCESS. But Buzz likes a variety of characters, like McQueen, Stitch, Buzz, Peter Pan, and on and on and on. SO I wasn't sure who to go with... But ultimately, Idecided it had to be these fellas:
AJs1stTripShirt2.png

The Gang, of course!!!! Buzz loves Mickey and Goofy...I have not actually shown him this shirt design yet, but I know he will love it. I can't decide which color tee to iron it onto yet....Can I get some help?? I was thinking maybe grey?? Anything too dark and the graphic won't show so well... Let me know what you think, Pals!!

By the way, this graphic looks a bit fuzzy here - not sure why. It looks good in Photoshop. Let's hope it prints ok....

OK, so confession time: This isn't really Buzz's first trip either. He was also there as a fetus (with the pom squad I coach), and as a 13 month old (ditto the pom squad), and as a 2 year old (with my parents). But he has zero recollection of these trips. In fact, it pains him that he can't remember being there, even though he can see in pictures that he was. He tells everyone that he is going to ride Dumbo AGAIN, but this time he'll know he is riding it. Isn't he a precocious one?? :thumbsup2

So you may be asking yourself why I am putting My First Trip on my kids' shirts, when in reality they have each been before... Well, the truth there is that I am a pathological liar. HA! No really, the real reason is that I have heard that kids get free stuff and get to go to the head of the line when CMs find out it is their first trip. TOTALLY KIDDING!!!!!! Honestly, I just really consider this their first trip - it is their first real experience with the Magic of Disney.....they will both be able to remember this trip, talk about it, and dream of future trips after this. I cannot WIAT to see the looks on their faces when Mickey gives them a hug or they see the castle for the first time - SO PRICELESS. So there. Call me a liar. Call me a shameless first-trip promotor. Whatever. Like I care. heehee (you know I do care, Gentle Readers - I do care!)

SO, there you have it. I am done for this post. You are now free to reply with any witty remark, criticism, compliment, and of course, a t-shirt color suggestion. Don't let me down, my peeps!!:lmao:

My mom has been known to travel with martinis mixed in Ball glass jars - you know the ones for canning? Well, apparently they make good martini transporters. She's got a little of the Ya-Ya's about her. But I did learn to mix drinks properly!:rotfl:

If not free passes, then at least looks of awe from the other DILs. I know I am in horror that my MIL will invite herself along on our March trip. I'm going to try to think up something clever for you, but I think you're the t-shirt queen!

Love the new design! So cute!

Thanks, Girl!

From Dorothy Parker to Rebecca Wells...I love your bredth... And I love anyone with some Ya Ya in them (the fun-loving, bourbon-drinking, convertible driving Ya Yas, not the child-abusing ones). Traveling around with maritinis in canning jars???? :lmao: I LOVE YOUR MOTHER!! Can you give me her number? I know I would like to hang out with that woman.

Off to mix up a bourbon and branch water.....

What an exciting surprise I had when i opened my mailbox this afternoon... A big fat envelope from Disney!!!! I thought, "Could this be our travel docs? I have paid off the trip...We are about 40 days out... It could be!!!"

I carefully carried the precious treasure inside, leaving all those nasty bills, Pottery Barn catalogs, and junk mail flyers in the mailbox to rot for all I cared.

I quickly took a picture of the envelope, to preserve this special moment...
IMGP0127.jpg

Then I ripped the thing open.:woohoo:

It was just some promotional stuff. A bit disappointing, but still fun. And apparently, the vacation planners at Disney have been hard at work planning a special, magical experience JUST for our family!!! I couldn't believe it!! Such personal attention!!! Of course, they think we're still staying at POR, but no matter..... They sent me some lovely maps, some info on the DDP, and some info on Magical Express (we are driving:confused: ). Wanna see?
IMGP0131.jpg

So that was my (kind of) somewhat-great, semi-exciting mail day.

(the fun-loving, bourbon-drinking, convertible driving Ya Yas, not the child-abusing ones).

You know, I almost added that! :)

I got one of those super cool packets, too, for our September trip and I was so excited...and then I was like, oh. Not as thrilling as I had thought. But it does engender good feelings, doesn't it? You throw all this money their way but they make you feel happy about it...maybe that's why I love planning Disney vacations, it's like the ultimate shopping experience.

The ultimate shopping experience - I love it!! Very well said, girlfriend.
