I can't believe I am admitting this but...

I'm so glad I'm not alone! Only thing is ...mine came down today! :woohoo:

Now to take care of the outside stuff tomorrow! (Nothing has been turned on though since New Years Eve...and my tree is fake.)

I'm shocked, truly shocked!

OK, not really. We always have a real tree and it has stayed up well into January during years past (DH's business is slow during the holidays so he took the tree down on New Years Day this year).

Luckily, we live in a nice little patch of woods and can easily hide a Christmas tree or two. The first year we had to do this, we found the Christmas tree of the people who had lived in the house before us! :rotfl:

My MIL still has hers up and I'm willing to bet it's there for Easter. Really. It is artificial. This is the first time they put up a tree in about 5 yrs I think. I know the last time they did have one up-- they kept it up until April 1st. Their reasoning was the lights on it helped heat the house...... :lmao: . Ummm... if those lights get that hot-- there's a problem.

Gald to know my grandma isn't the only one with a tree up...although hers is artificial! She will keep it up usually until a little while before Easter...and yes she does light it up everynight.

there is a small forest behind my house which we are allowed to dump our christmas trees. I told DH once we take it down to ONLY put it out there under the cover of darkness... the less chance the neighbors have of seeing us the better!!
Wrap it in a sheet, drag it down there, (hope no one thinks you're dragging a dead body through the woods :scared1: ), and THEN take off the lights!

The Easter comment actually reminded me of a friend I had when I was little. Her mom never wanted to take the time to take their tree down (it was artificial).

So they just kept it up all year round and decorated it for whatever season we were in... you know, hearts and whatnot for v-day, then came the shamrocks, then the easter eggs, etc. It was friggin insane. :confused3

She probably could have saved herself some time by just taking the darn thing down and not have to decorate it every season! :rotfl:

I do know someone that throws a sheet over their artificial tree, leaving it decorated, and stores it in the corner of the garage.

Can I join the club? My tree is still up -- although no longer decorated and this year it is fake. I left it up because it was so pretty (first year with a fake one) and I just couldn't bear to take it down.

Then DH started getting all snarky on me (love using that word) so the girls and I took the ornaments off so he could put the tree away.

That was a week ago -- he can't seem to find the time and now is commenting on how nice it looks --- yeah - ummm sure!! Lazy boy!!!

:lmao:

I have two words for you: Tree Bag.

I don't believe DH and I have had a tree up this late in the season (we like to get it down no later than first couple of days in January, but this year, we were a week later than that

For about $1.99, the place we buy our tree from has a plastic "tree bag" which doubles a as a tree skirt (although we have a really cute tree skirt we throw on top of it. Basically, it is a giant, giant Hefty bag. No (or very little) mess from the d*** needles, lol.

Anyhoo, this is the second year we got it and we love it :lovestruc

One more tip for you: if you have the small Christmas lights, don't bother taking them off. I've bought them full price for $1.62 at Target, and for much less when I've gotten them on clearance. Every year except for one, I have taken the Christmas lights off, but one year I didn't, and it saved a lot of effort and scratched arms and hands.

I will have to suggest that the next time I see her!!

We still have our fake tree up. DH never helps put it up or take it down, but he sure likes to complain about it still being up. When someone bugs me to do something it makes me want to do just the opposite. I am getting kind of sick of looking at it though. Maybe I'll start taking the ornaments off tomorrow, as long as DH doesn't say something about it. If he does I may keep it up for another week.:rolleyes1

:lmao: ok, now that is just crazy!! what a mess it is gonna be lol. I would get that tree bag for sure and get it the heck out!

I just took the Christmas lights out of the windows....and they are sitting on the floor. I turned off the tree, but haven't put it away yet. Just haven't gotten around to it.

I saw a fellow wearing a Santa Claus hat the other day. I thought that was kind of strange.
