we haven't taken down our Christmas tree yet (and it's not an artificial one)! :duck: :faint:

It is dry and crispy and extremely pathetic looking; we've long since stopped watering it. A few ornaments have started falling off due to the drooping branches. We have never let our trees go so long, usually we take it down the first week of January, but I guess this year it is a combination of busyness/laziness we haven't gotten around to taking it down.

That and the dread of how many thousands of needles will end up falling off when we remove the lights. :rotfl:

p.s.- no, we do not turn the lights on for fear of burning down the neighborhood :teeth:

You just jarred my memory. I had a dream the other morning that we had company over and suddenly my Christmas tree and all Christmas decorations were still on display. I was freaking out because I always remove everything by Christmas evening so if I get the lazies, I can be assured everything is gone by New Years Eve (superstition). In my dream, my husband was saying "Geez, it;s the end of January and you still have not taken these things down". I was mortified.

:rotfl: We've got an artificial one... and it's still up  I've made about a hundred excuses... I'm sure it will last at least another solid week and a half.

And I still turn it on every night.

You definitely win for still having the real one up though :rotfl2:

GASP! That's really bad!

We took it down before new years because we were going out of town that weekend.

I think you need to take it down pronto!

A few people in my neighborhood still have theirs up (and light them each night) and I just want to go pound on the door and tell them to take the fricking thing down, LOL. Ours is usually down by the first week of Jan (I would prefer sooner, but I get lazy)...this year it was probably closer to the 2nd week

Yikes! After having a cousin lose her home in a Christmas tree fire, I really worry about things like this. Take it down and maybe consider a fake one in the future! Those you can leave up as long as you want.

Wow. Taking down Christmas is the WORST job...that's why I force myself to do it all in one day shortly after Christmas. Hey - since you're gonna lose all the needles in the house anyway...why not cut it up and burn it in the fireplace if you have one? Good luck!

:lmao:

I'm so glad we're not the only ones! Ours is artificial, though.

My brother and sister in law did that once. They left there tree up so long that the needles got really hard and prickly and they couldn't take off the ornaments without hurting themselves. They finally picked up the whole thing and threw it all out...ornaments and all! :rotfl:

there is a small forest behind my house which we are allowed to dump our christmas trees. I told DH once we take it down to ONLY put it out there under the cover of darkness... the less chance the neighbors have of seeing us the better!!

Oh, that's nothing! My father has a "Christmas" village. Christmas is in quotations because he didn't even bother to take the thing down last year! This resulted in much teasing from the rest of my family "Jack, how's your New Year's Day/Martin Luther King/President's Day/St. Patrick's Day/Valentine's Day/Memorial Day/Easter/4th of July/etc. village doing?"

Oh, good, now I don't feel so bad that mine is till up!! I started last night taking down all the ornaments, and I took down the mantle too. We have an artificial so it's not a hazard right now, but it will be a definate hazard to me if DH still sees everything up by the end of the weekend!!! :rotfl2:

I got the green one down but the white is still up. It's my winter tree. C'mon who wants a dark winter - light it up!

Throw a sheet over it and save it for this year.

Also wanted to comment that last week I saw 2 guys on a scooter in Downtown Naples. The guy on the back of the scooter was dragging a Christmas tree. What a sight. :rotfl2:

Wow, I'm shocked anyone would still have their's up. Ours came down on Dec. 27th. We had a real one too and by the 27th, I was tired of it and the sooner you get it out, the less mess you have. We did keep the Christmas villiage up till around mid Jan though. I never get tired of looking at that.

ours is up too...(artificial)...I had plans of taking it down this weekend but DH just sprained, strained or tore his Achilles tendon...and I don't get up on ladders. (tree is 15' tall) I hope to get it down SOON though...we leave for WDW in 16 days adn I don't want this thing up when I get back....

Any one ever hear of shrink wrapping a tree to preserve for next year ???? just an idea

I LOVE Christmas! Can I come live with you? I tried tying myself to the Christmas tree, but it wasn't good enough. We call my mom "the Grinch" for putting it up and my Dad and I put masking tape in an "X" over where the Christmas tree used to stand. Oh well, 10 more months!!!

I thought I was the only one who still had their tree up!! :lmao:

It is an artificial tree so I dont have to worry about any fires.. I dont even turn the lights on but I just havent taken it down.. Its still completely decorated.. All my snowmen decorations are still up in the formal living room too.. I will say though that the decorations in the yard have long been put up...

My boyfriend jokingly said to put a sheet on it and stick it in the closet.. :rotfl2: I almost thought of taking the decorations off and leaving the tree up and just make decorations for each holiday and decorating it.. :teeth: :teeth:

I love you people, you make me feel normal!!! I just took mine down last weekend but it's still in boxes to be stored.

Now here's one for you...we have half a tree up! And it's real.

I got on DH's case to take the thing out 2 weeks ago, I had undecorated it. He decides it will be easier to cut the top 3 feet off, take that out, and then take the rest. Well, 'the rest' is still sitting there! In the tree stand. I think this is the most bizarre thing. We really need to take it out.
