This morning I looked up airfare from BDL to MCO flying Song on 4/16/05 (the day before our land/sea).

Before 7:30 they were 309.00 (7am flight) and $139 (3:00 flight and 6:00 flight)

At that moment I thought . . .hmmmm let me call home and get my skymiles numbers and book the 3pm the day before our land/sea so that way we won't have to fly out at 7am on the 17th. HA . . .as soon as I got my skymiles numbers and logged back on to the site the flights JUMPED UP $200. And the seats weren't any different (meaning nobody purchased seats during that jump up).

So now I'm checking into the site hourly to see if they go back down to $139 . . .

That happened to me for our trip a couple of weeks ago. It was around $200, then jump to around $270, then jumped to $697! There were plenty of seats left. I kept checking it and one day it dropped to $251, I grabbed it! Checked it later that day, back up to $697.

I am so kicking myself right now . . .Now I have it in my head that I want to leave the day before . . .so I'm obsesssing about it . . .ugh . . I should of booked it without my skymiles #'s.

:(

Wish Upon a star, I've been thinking about you today and yesterday and watching Delta. I still think it is well worth the effort to stay up till midnight. I talked to a rep. this morning about the low fares being gone for the 15th and 16th already, and she said they were all taken first thing after midnight. I say, just do it. Nap the next day, its well worth it! Good luck with this, I know what you are going through. :D

Thanks . . .

I'm going to see what happens throughout today and tonight and if the 16th flights stay high . . I'll just have to get on the phone for the early flight for the 17th . . .I know I am going to hate getting up and out of the house by 5am to catch a 7am flight.

Sometimes the number of seats you request will determine the fare. The computer will (ususally) give you the lowest available fare that allows all passengers to get the same fare. If you book one by one some of your party may actually get a lower fare.

I booked on Jet Blue yesterday at 96 each way, Well I had to break the reservation into 2 parts in order to get the 96 dollar fare, (when I tried to book for 7 it went to 116 each way) So I booked my sisters first, and by the time I finished booking hers I went right back in to get mine, and the price Jumped to 116.. So I had to pay more!! IM talking about less than 5 min total booking time..

I know what you mean, that 7:00 am flight is painful, but just think...you're at the Poly by 11:00 with drink in hand ::yes:: !!! Actually, I think the earliest Song goes is 8:30? at least from Boston anyway. Oh, I wish you luck tonight. Then, we'll both be booking that return flight next week, oh joy! :D

You are lucky! Song only has 3 flights daily out of BDL. You either take the 7:00am, 3:20pm, or 6:40pm flights. Which all stink in my opinion!

When we used to fly Delta Express their times where excellent! We used to take the 10:20am or the 1:20pm flights. Those were the days!

The reason it jumped was that your sister's ressie ate up the rest of the $96 fares, and the next fare category was $116. They didn't change anything, they just ran out of the cheapest seats. This is the way both Song and JetBlue price things according to statements on their respective websites.

As for us, we are going Friday April 15th (beginning of school vacation week in Mass and Maine), and every Song fare BOS-MCO is priced just over $300 one-way! They have been priced that way since they came onto the system at 2:00 AM Weds morning (I know, I was there, and have followed every few hours ever since). The nice folks at Song explained that since they knew they were going to sell all the seats on the 15th regardless, they were not allocating any of the seats to the cheaper categories.
As much as I hate paying that much, as a stockholder as well I appreciate that the shouldn't be giving away the family silver; no reason to discount can sell them at higher fares anyway.

So I will watch over the next 11 months to see if the fares decline even slightly, and get me some store credit if they do. Being DVC owners means that we're always going to be headed back to WDW before any credits expire anyway.

It's possible there were only 6 seats availabe for the $96 fare. Not to sound selfish but I would have booked my seats first.

Well, if you didn't see my vent on the Budget Board...
Yesterday our flights were around $517 and today they are up to $686. I've been kicking myself around all day for not booking yesterday.

We are flying Song for our November trip which is Thanksgiving week. We ended up paying $212.00 a ticket now the tickets are $448.00. I don't mind the drive to Boston for rates like these. As soon as I saw The $212.00 price I bought them the same day and then told my family it's out of Boston. We like to try to go out of Portland Me. or Manchester NH.

Pumpkinboy, I'm wondering why you didn't call them at midnight, why did you do this online?? Like I said in my first few posts, the lowest fares become available at midnight, they are literally gone in about 15 minutes. I do it this way every year this way, and this is what happens. I don't know who at Delta told you that low fares have not been available for these flights, it just isn't true. They just disappear within minutes. So to Wish Upon a Star, heed my warning, call at midnight! Don't do this online, or they will be gone.

The fare "dance" kills me. About a month or so ago, I found 96.00 r/t from Phl for our Oct/Nov trip. My CC was locked inside my card and DH had the keys (don't ask) by the time he got back home the fare was increased to 176.00 and hasn't gon down again! I am so bummed.

I'm all set to call for midnight . . .although I don't know exactly how much the low fare is since BDL seems to be higher than BOS or JFK. I don't know if the low fare is $139 one way or not? I'm going to be making a pot of coffee to keep me alert and peppy. By the time I get off the phone I'm going to be very :hyper: :teeth:

I really wish I jumped on those darn Saturday flights this morning. ::yes::

I know what you mean . . .I was at work at 7:15 and at 7:30 I checked out the Song site and low and behold there were two times at $139. I thought for one minute, called home to my son who read me the Skymiles numbers and then checked back onto Song and WHAM flights were up $200 in less than 10 minutes. I've been stalking the site all day, but they are still up there. I'm hoping before I call for the Sunday flight they'll come back down.::yes::
