My Mom had a brain hemorrhage on Feb 6th out of no where. She was sitting at her computer when she fell over unconscious. They put a drain in her head and within 2 weeks she started to wake up and respond to commands. ON the exact 2 week day she suffered another one and they told us there was nothing they could do to save her. The bleed was too extensive and she would never function as a normal human being. We made the hardest decision last Sunday to take her off the vent. Here it is exactly 1 week after we turned off the vent and my Mom continues to breath on her own. She has not had any medical support since. When will this agony be over???? It is so hard.

I can't imagine what you are going through. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm so sorry. I do not understand these type of things and know we just never will--while we're here anyway. God bless your family and your mom. When it is time to go, I hope she goes very peacefully.

 I am so sorry. It's so hard to watch your mother slip away like this. Take care of yourself so you can stay strong.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this.

What a terrible turn of events for your Mother and your family. Prayers for you and your family that you can bear this difficult time with grace and prayers for your Mother's comfort and peace.

My mother died from a brain hemorrhage when I was 23 years old. It also seemed to come out of nowhere. She made it through the first bleed with no real signs of damage. They scheduled her for surgery to remove the aneurysm. Before they got her to surgery, she had another bleed, after which they told us she was brain dead. We turned off the machines. It took only about an hour for her to die.

Unfortunately, the amount of time your mom might hang on really depends on the areas of the brain that were damaged. Those that control breathing and heart function could have sustained little or no damage, while those areas that made her the person you know, where irreparably damaged. Eventually, the other systems will begin to fail and she will slip away. If it helps at all, OP, your mom is already gone. Her body just hasn't realized it yet.

My heart goes out to you. I know how hard this is.

I am so sorry. This must be so difficult for you.
