I can do this...Karyn's journal to lose 20!

Karyn-

Hello stranger. I am trying to catch up. I have missed alot that has been going on here.

My claws would come out too if someone were picking on my child. Especially an autistic child. We have a Buddy camp here during the summer. (Not sure if this is a national program or a local one.) Anyway my DD(13) is a counselor. They pair up children with "challenged" children and they spend the week at camp together with counselors to help them. They swim, horseback ride, play games etc... It is a really wonderful program. My DD cried the last day. It teaches some wonderful values to the children. Sounds like your DS class could use a Buddy Camp.

The IV-my gosh girl I swear we are related. I had a plan though with my 3rd child. I asked for the little patch that numbs the area. Imagine my dismay when the nurse said they did not have it. :earseek: Then I asked for lidocane (I know I misspelled that). Again they did not have it. I was devastated. I argued that somewhere in that hospital there was some numbing medicine, but she would not relent. If I ever have another child I will have my Dr. prescribe the numbing patches and also give me a notarized affadavit that I should get my epidural at exactly 3 centimeters no matter how the head nurse thought I was progressing.

I'm so sorry about everything you have been going thru!! Good luck with getting to go back to SC. And I'll say a little prayer that your DH does not have to go to MS or LA. It's a real mess in New Orleans right now. Good luck with the surgery as well. Goodness your plate is full. Take care of yourself Karyn and let us know how you are doing. You don't have to do upkeep on everyone's journal, just jot a few notes in your own.

Karyn~y
I hope that everything comes out great for you and our wonderful family. Hope you return soon! I really like you!! C-ya!

Hi Karen,
I'm so sorry kids are picking on your son :(
I hope things are better soon.

Thank you everyone for your concern. I have been spending some time at Jack's school and things are improving for him. It seems that we have moved into a completely different culture than what we are used to!! The teacher and vice-principal have sat the class down and explained to them about Jack and how his autism makes him behave. I have talked to them one on one and they seem to be understanding and helping Jack out more at school. I hope that this was an isolated incident and I won't have to deal with it again.

I am going through some more tests this week. The CAT scan showed that I have an enlarged uterus and the pain that I have been feeling are contractions. Yes, they feel exactly like labor contractions. Any of you that have had kids know the pain that I have been feeling! I am possibly looking at a hysterectomy in the near future.

We are still looking at transferring back to SC, if there is a job open for DH. I need to get back home!! Thank you all for your comments and concern! :flower:

Hiya,
Please feel better! I'm sorry about your child being picked on, they just don't understand. I work with a co-worker who's autistic and he's the most safety oriented person i've ever met. At first i used to think he disliked me or something cause he'd never talk to me, and i'm kind of shy then someone told me just to go introduce myself and after that things have been great. We even joke around with each other now. I'm glad things are working out for your son as well. If it were me i would of flipped out completely.
Good luck and stay strong!

Karyn, I am so sorry for all you are going thru.

Definitely keeping you and your family in prayers.

Hope the weekend is going well.

Hi, girl!

Oh, can feel your pain from the other side about your child! I taught an autistic student last year and my class really understood about him...because I made them understand! We had many discussions on why this child acted a certain way, how to interact with him, etc. I love having this kid in our class and I hope the other children will come around and support your child, as well! :)

As for you, keep up the great work! You are such an inspiration! :)

Hi Karyn,

Hope you had a great weekend. I sure hope you are feeling better soon.

Keeping you and yours in my prayers

Wow, Karyn, you certainly have a lot on your plate right now! I am glad that the school is being supportive and hopefully things will be much better for your DS. Sometimes kids just don't understand and their first reaction is to make fun of someone that is different. Now that they know, I think his school life will be much more enjoyable!

I hope that your medical woes are soon a thing of the past. Hang in there, you are a tough cookie, you can handle this! :grouphug:

Hi Karyn!

I hope all is well with you and your son. I hope the kids are acting better towards him.

Hope you are doing well.

Things are finally starting to settle down a little around here. Went to the doctor this morning and I will have to have a complete hysterectomy. I go to the surgeon in October to schedule it. It wasn't a hernia after all. I have some massive fibroids and cysts. I'll just be glad to start feeling better!

DS is getting through school a little better. He has a girl in the class that has been connecting with him and playing with him. The kids are responding to him and including him.

I haven't been on the scale in a while. Don't want to at this point!! I have got to get back to writing everything down. I've really let things slide here lately and that's not healthy!!

Breakfast-Lean Pocket

Lunch-DH took me out...ate too much of the WRONG things. Really ashamed to write them down, but let's just say that a piece of cheesecake was involved.

I am going to start doing better tomorrow. I am too full to eat anything else today, so I'll start over on the scale in the morning and get back on track. The doctor doesn't want to doing strenuous exercise for a while, so step and pilates are out. I am going to start walking instead. This Iowa weather is beautiful right now. :flower:

CHEESECAKE?!??! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc I am SOOOOOOOOOOO jealous!!!!

I'm so glad to see you back!!! :teeth: I'm sorry to hear you have to get a hysterectomy, but at least your problem will go away! My mom had the same thing happen last year. After years of problems, she said she wishes she would have done it sooner! You'll get through it, we'll help! :grouphug:

Glad your son is having a better time in school. That makes it so much easier on you I'm sure. ::yes::

Don't worry about the last couple days/weeks. Get back on track and don't look back! Walking is good exercise, you will be able to get back to your other classes by the beginning of the year, you'll see!

New day, new outlook. I got on the scale this morning and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm back up to 132.4 and I was expecting it to be a lot higher than that. I don't have anywhere to go today, so I hope that we have a quiet day!!

Breakfast-Lean Pocket (6 pts)

I am planning to make chicken and rice for lunch. I'm using boneless, skinless chicken and fat free broth, so it shouldn't be too bad. Last Saturday, we got Long John Silver's for lunch. I won't be doing that again until I get back under control. I have eaten out enough in the past week, so I should be okay for a while!! No more temptations!! :flower:

*hugs* i'm so glad that things are going so much better for your son. Ooh a little girl? aww thats so cute. :goodvibes

I'm so sorry to hear about your hysterectomy, but on the bright side at least you'll be feeling a lot better soon. *hugs* I hope it'll all go over well.

You've done great so far and will continue to do so. Stay strong, you can do it. If i had that much on my plate i would of run out of the room screaming.

Have a super great day!

I have done that a few times!! It's very nice to meet you, Rizel. Thanks for visiting!! I'm so glad that things are starting to settle down.

I stuck to my plan for lunch. I had chicken and rice and peas. Yummy. It was hard not to dive in headfirst. I had a 100 Calorie Chip's Ahoy for snack. Probably cereal or a little more rice for dinner.

I've done okay today. It's hard getting back into the habit of eating right...and it's only been a few weeks!! I went over a few points, but I haven't been feeling great today and I was craving a baked potato.

Breakfast-Lean Pocket (6 pts)

Lunch-chicken and rice (8 pts) and peas (1 pt)

snack-100 Cal Chip's Ahoy (2 pts)

Dinner-baked potato (8 pts)

snack-fat free pudding (2 pts)

Total...27 pts...used 7 flex pts...I can do better than that. I'll try again tomorrow!!

I haven't been keeping track of points today, but I think I've already reached my limit!!

At Sunday School, they had these HUGE muffins. I ate 1/2 of a chocolate muffin. It was really good! For lunch, I had some leftover rice (probably a cup) and some chicken bites from Schwan's. Three oz. of chicken bites is 4 pts. I don't think I had more than 6 oz. If I'm adding correctly, that is 17 pts. I need to space my points out a little better throughout the day!! :flower:

Sounds like you are still adjusting back into the healthy eating habit after having some time off. You'll get back into the swing of things, don't worry! Just keep track and don't forget to drink your water!!

You can do it!!! :cool1:

I'm so down in the dumps today. I hope things get better as the day goes on. The weather is cool and cloudy and I don't feel like doing anything! I am still pushing DH to get us back to S.C. and I hope that he is working on it. I like Iowa, but I want to be back home!!

Breakfast-ham sandwich (5 pts)

snack-cheese puffs (5 pts)

Cheer up! :flower3: Don't be down in the dumps. :flower: I know you are dying to be back in SC with your family, but for now you are in Iowa and you have to make the absolute best of it until that changes. ::yes:: I speak from experience - when I graduated college I got a job in Wichita, KS so I moved there from AZ. It took 5.5 years for me to get back to my family in AZ and it was ROUGH being out there with no family - especially once my kids were born! But I was patient and waited for the perfect job transfer to come along and am so glad I did. It will happen for you too, hang in there!

Try to keep your mind busy with other things. Get some exercise (even if it is walking since you have to take it easy) - it does wonders for clearing your mind!! Just be glad you are not here - the high is 104! :sunny:
