I knew that our free dining was going to be a better deal, but I was curious to see what my options with the pin were.

Staying at a moderate the free dining was a better deal but about $400.00, however if we were to upgrate to Beach or Yaht Club the pin would have been a better deal. I would have loved to upgrade, but it would have been $1000.00 more than our current reservation, so that just wouldn't fly with dh:laughing:

I'm really hoping since we got a pin we will get more in the future and we can plan another WDW trip. Dh seems to think this is a once in a lifetime trip. I think otherwise ;)

Have a great time!!!!!
Once you go you are hooked!!!!;)
I haven't stayed at POR but it looks beautiful and is on my list of hotels I want to stay at in the future. Do you have children? If you do I think it will be a great hotel for them. I did the free dining last fall with my 2 boys and it was helpful not to worry about keeping track of spending on food. So he will be happy about that.
We have stayed at BC before kids and all I can say is AMAZING!!!!:cloud9: It was such a great hotel and we loved the short walk to Epcot every night for dinner. However, it is a lot more price wise, so maybe you can save up and treat for a special occasion such as an anniversary!

Have a fantastic and magical trip!!!!:thumbsup2

We have 3 kids so our affordable options are pretty limited :( I wish Disney would offer more afforadable options for those with more than 2 kids.

With the pin and the DDP the BC or YC was only $3265.00 for the five of us, so not too bad, but at POR with free dining we are only paying $2100.00 so I can't justify the upgrade right now. I'm not working so maybe once I find another job I can set up a Disney fund and not tell dh about it, then in two years I'll be like "Well guess where we are going!" ;)

The kids would love AK or WL but we'd have to get a villa and they are just way too pricey. All they'd have to do was throw in a pull-out double sofa in some rooms and they could accomodate a family with 3-4 kids. I have no problems forcing my kids to sleep together while at Disney

You are going to have a great time!!!

We love POR....we have stayed there both trips down and have reservations to stay there in Sept!!!!!

Don't regret not upgrading for one second! My family adores POR!!! It's still the kids favorite resort and the one they request we go back to :) ~ You'll love it! I think you got a fabulous deal- enjoy!!!

Congrats on your first trip to Disney. We have stayed at POR years ago and we enjoyed it. I'm sure you will too. With the difference in price I wouldn't have upgraded either. Have a great trip.

Well the fact that you have 3 kids, POR makes perfect sense. By not paying the extra for hotel upfront, means you have that extra money for souvenier spending;). Don't regret staying at the moderates. I have stayed at CBR 4 times (with and without children) and I find the moderates are just as wonderful as the deluxes:). My friend has 3 children and she usually stays at POFQ because they have the pullout trundle bed. I don't know if POR offers them too, but they are good to put a small child on and then they can be stored when not sleeping.

I too stay home with the kids, so any extra $$ I get I am saving up to try to go next summer with extended family. I would prefer going again on free dining b/c we saved a lot last fall with that package.

They do offer family suites at the all stars and they are making a new value priced hotel which will be offering suites as well, so those are options you can think about for next time:cool1:

Enjoy POR, I can't wait to hear how much fun it was!!!! Your kids are going to love the magic of Disney and then you can all talk hubby into going again:yay:

I'm jelous you got POR for free dining. I was only able to get CBR. I'm getting happy about staying there. But still check every day for POR. We are going for 10 days so I think that is why we come up with availibility issues.

You'll have a fantastic time, I'm sure, and you won't be thinking "why didn't I upgrade?" You'll just be having a blast and feeling good about saving the money! Enjoy your trip!!:thumbsup2

Oh don't worry I have no regrets!! I am just so excited to be going to Disney for the first time ever!!!

I am doing it all! I am going to pre-order the Photo Pass, we have tickets to MNSSHP, and I am thinking of having Mickey Ears delivered to the room for when we get there :lovestruc
