I can't believe how much I actually bought. I am actually returning about 8 things (mostly DVDs). I wrapped all of the gifts I bought last night and I realized that I way way way over bought!!! DH and I made a deal that we would not go over board this year due to the fact that we just moved into a new home and our mortgage is mucho mucho dinero!! DH saw how much was under the tree for him and said that I was absolutely crazy!! Then, as I sat there and thought about it, I realized that I did go way far over board. So...off to the stores I go tonight to return some presents. Birthdays are right around the corner!!

I over bought this year too. That's what I get for starting my Christmas shopping in August!

I've learned to NOT start in August... because those are the year's I go overboard....

To the OP, congratulations on realizing you went overboard!!! I can honestly say, perhaps for the first time ever, that I did not go overboard this year :)

So did I. I'm embarassed to say that I do every year. I get my Christmas Club check in early October and I just buy, buy, buy from then on.

I'm proud of you!!!

I think its worse when you start early because you end up having the extra weeks to shop some more! I really tried this year to buy gifts that would not be used on Christmas Day and then "tossed aside" for the rest of the year. So far, so good!!

I started buying already for next year.

This is how I don't overbuy... I have a spreadsheet with everyone's names on it for whom I will be buying. The second column is for what I bought and the final column is for how much it cost.

I can go back several years to see what I bought and I can compare one year's expenses to the others.

So, I confess, I am a little of a control freak and a little too organized, but I buy on sale, wrap as I buy and am not overwhelmed at Christmas.

Just don't be like my mom. She buys gifts and hides them in the house. Then when Christmas comes she can't find half of them. We always get presents like 2 years later when she finally finds everything. Thank god we don't get live gifts or anything of the food variety! :scared1:

I also over bought this year (like I do every year!). I'll be putting some items in my "gift closet" to be used during 2006.

My Mom bought my sister a book one year. Finally, when they were moving 8 years later, she found the book in the attic. Luckily, it was something that my sister still liked and hadn't read yet.
