So, I have tried once dresses once before (see my PJ) and I really wasn't planning on buying a dress until sometime this summer since our wedding is still a ways off. Well, Adam and I went to pick up some pet food and run by TJ Maxx to spend some giftcards we had gotten over the holidays. As we were driving Adam says "Did you see that sign? It is said prom and bridal gowns 50-75% off" I saw the sign and he asked if I wanted to check it out and I said sure. We pull into the parking lot and I was feeling very hesitant about going in, but I thought why not at least I can get a better idea of what he likes.
It was a smaller store but it was stuffed with gowns. I was actually thinking I might find a reception gown but the sales clerk pulled a gown for me to try and I went to get into it and it was a size 6 and I couldn't begin to get it zipped up the entire way so I asked if they had a bigger size and lo and behold, they had the same gown in a size 10! I tried it on and I just loved it! I didn't cry or anything but it made me feel special and very "bridal." Adam loved it too and he took some pics with his cell phone. I tried on a bunch of other gowns too, but everything was kind of "blah" after that one. The gown was marked $890 and it was a new, Allure gown. I thought I might just write down the design number and then the sales clerk mentioned that it was half off!! But of course, the sale ended later that day. I sent Adam to the car and told him I just wanted to talk to them about the gown and that they were getting me some more info about it.
Needless to say, I bought the dress! It ended up being a little less than $500 which I thought was a great price and I knew he loved it and I loved it. I left it at the store and when I got to the car I told him that they really pressured me at the end and that the price on the tag was already the half off price and that I felt like they were trying to rip me off. I am pretty sure he bought that story. In a million years I NEVER thought I would buy my dress this way, without my mom or grandma or bestfriend, etc. and with my fiance in the car in the parking lot!! I'm really not very impulsive but it felt right.
My parents came over Tuesday (the next day the store was open) and I picked up the dress and met them at my house. I tried it back on and got some much better pictures of it. I love it even more now....it was so much more flattering than any of the dresses I tried on at David's and it feels more, I don't know, substantial I guess. Its funny I didn't think I would end up with a dress this formal, but I LOVE it!
Sorry for the long drawn out story, I'm just so excited!!! And without further ado, here are copious amounts of pictures!
Me figuring out that if i fluff the tulle, the bottom becomes much fuller (genious, I know
Crazy, long train!
Me and Dad (and my little brother Deacon, the cairn terrier who also came to visit)
Me and Mom
My parens took the dress home with them. It will need to be hemmed, bustled, and a little work done to the bust so it fits closer, but otherwise I think it's already perfect!! Yay!
