We purchased tickets through Continental but my itinerary says ' operated by Northwest Airlines'. The flight numbers are not the same as NWA, but the plane is the same, times are the same etc. How does this effect the Magical Express? Does anyone know the answer to this one? I checked online, and found out that the two airlines are partners of some sort, and one participates in Magical Express, and the other doesn't. Could it be possible that half the plane gets to check their luggage @ the resorts and the other half of the plane doesn't? Very weird.....

This is what is called a "code-share". It is very common in the airline industry. While I know that much, I don't know how it would affect Magical Express, though if I had to venture a guess I would say that since you have a Continental flight number that you could use the resort check-in. This is, however, just my opinion. I would check with ME.

I know USAirways and United code-share. At the airport, there are signs that if you have a United reservation that is operated by USAirways, you check in at the USAirways counter and vice-versa. So in your case, you would check-in with Northwest which my guess would mean no resort check-in, they probably do not have access to Northwest's check-in system. I would call and ask. Someone else posted a situation like this awhile ago, I wonder what happened.

The exact same thing just happened to me. I booked my flight through United but it said "Operated by UsAirways...Check in at UsAirways counter". I called up my AAA agent and asked her if I would still be able to use the resort airline check in, but she was unsure and told me that she would ask her supervisor and then get back to me. Well, I just got an e-mail yesterday stating that I would be able to use the resort airline check-in because my flight was booked through United (even though it is operated by UsAirways) . This whole code-sharing deal is really confusing though!

P.S. Disney's central office was no help in finding this information out. They were the first people I asked and this is what they told me:

"Well since it's operated by UsAirways, you are not eligible for Magical Express because UsAirways is not a participating airline". :rotfl2: I explained that I was and the only thing that was in question was the resort airline check-in and she told me to hold on. So I held....and held....and held... :rolleyes1 then hung up. So I never got a definite answer. Then I was going to call the resort, but I wasn't sure if they would know. I didn't know who would know :confused3 . Of course, leave it to AAA to know. They always come through! (although I have to say, I won't actually believe it 100% until I am actually checking my bags and getting my airline tickets from the resort :p )

You may want to call the resort directly, so they could ask someone at the DME desk.
