I usually do a lot of planning for our holiday, but DH expressed a wish to eat at Jiko this year after we visited AKL for a couple of hours last year. I called tonight and spoke to a wonderful CM - Lorna. I got the exact date and time i wanted YAY!!    ANy feedback from all you Jikoites out there would be appreciated.

fabulous meal! my husband orders the beef filet w/the mac and cheese. this is not your ordinary mac/cheese. it is worthy of licking the plate--it is that good. very wonderful restaurant! enjoy!! :earboy2:

You will not be disappointed. jiko's is consistently excellent - food & service!

Fantastic choice! Both the filet and the monkfish were loved at our table. We also enjoyed the appetizer sampler. Everything was delicious and we wouldn't have normally ordered it had we read the descriptions.

We tryed Jiko for the first time this april we are definetely going back. The food and service were great we really had a great time. The night before we went to Shula's it was the most expensive and disappointing meal but Jikos made up for it and we decided we would make this a regular

We ate at Jiko as a "last minute" dinner decision when we didn't feel like going back to EPCOT. Everyone in our party LOVED it. Dsis ordered the filet - liked it a lot. DH ordered the Lamb Shank. He said it was excellant. I had the braised Short Ribs with an Idaho and Sweet Potato cassarole thing. It was awesome. The ribs had a sweet bbq sauce on them and the potatoes were such a nice balance. I think you'll LOVE Jiko

I can't wait to try Jiko out! It is on our list for our Nov trip. Now I just need to get on the phone on the right day to get all of our PS. I made their Lamb Shank recipe last weekend and it was wonderful.
Let us know how it is!

We eat at Jiko every trip. If Ron is around, request him as your server.
I'll second that Lamb Shank!!!

We ate ate at Jiko this week. I was not overly impressed with the restaurant in general (theme) but the food and service were very good. The decor is more modern than African and there are really no views from the dining room. We tried a appetizer selection ($20) that was not on the menue. This had two of most of the appetizers and it was a fun way to sample the menue. We both had the pork tenderloin for our entree which was very good, excellent presentation. We saw a lot of Monkfish leaving the kitchen and I would certainly try the steak in the future. For dessert I had a South African port that was awsome and reasonably priced ($7.75), DW had the chocolate flourless tort which was ok at best. Overall a good meal, not inexpensive, not too eclectic. We will go again on our next trip. Enjoy ! :goodvibes

Jiko is our favorite WDW restaurant. My favorite is the filet with mac and cheese. Their flatbreads are great. Make sure you save room for dessert. I haven't found a dessert there that I didn't like.

I would recommend the quails, but they just took them off the menu!

They also took off the crispy beef rolls (with banana dip), the spinach and tomato flatbread, and the octopus salad.

This past weekend we split the chermoula chicken, and it was excellent. The whole dish was flavored with chermoula, preserved lemons, roasted garlic, and kalamata olives. Yum!

(Oh, and try the new "banana split" - I hate bananas, but this was fantastic)

I can't believe they took quail off the menu. My husband will be sooo disappointed. :sad2: He still talks about his meal and it was two years ago. I had the monkfish and it was really delish. I forget our waiter's name but he did a great job helping us come to a compromise ona bottle of wine. Enjoy! :goodvibes

My DD just had the quail on April 30th and loved it.
She was looking forward to having it again when we return. The DH had the lamb shank and I had the to die for filet and mac and cheese. The flatbreads are awesome!!! We can't wait to go back!!

I also just booked Jiko for dinner - on the 3d of July
It will be my third time dining there and I cannot wait! I'm taking three friends (both 40) who've never been to WDW and, therefore, never seen the AKL. I know they're going to freak!!
Enjoy :wizard:

This is a must do on my trips with DH. We dream of the filet with mac and cheese between trips. Quite possibly our favorite restaurant on property.
