I booked a package to UO which I am super excited about. The hotel (super budget) was almost universally (excuse the pun) reviewed by past guests as bed bug and cockroach central. Finding a good review was rare. I really wanted to save money on this trip but now I'm so sure.

I was looking at other hotels in the area and decided to just book the Royal Pacific at Universal. It is very expensive but I would rather spend the money for a CLEAN hotel but feel guilty for spending that much. I'm the type of person who pays for everything in cash.

What is so good about spending top $ for the Royal Pacific? Please give me something to look forward to!! Thanks!

Staying onsite has you within walking distance to Citywalk,IOA and the studios within minutes. You get resort guest unlimited Express pass good at all rides except: Forbidden Journey, Ollivanders wand shop, Pteranodon FLyers and Hollywood Rip Ride rocket. You also get early entry at IOA at the Harry potter. It is a BEAUTIFUL, clean resort .We found staying onsite ( we stayed Portofino Bay) was the BEST decision we could have made.Very worth the cost

While it's IMPOSSIBLE to guarantee a "bug-free" stay anywhere, we've never had a problem at any of the US On-site hotels. Plus, they are soooo convenient and the Express perks are very valuable!
Have a great time...they cost more, but if it's in the budget, it's money very well spent!

ok, you have switched from offsite to RPH.
you will not regret this decision because:

1. you can sleep until the last minute, make coffee/tea in the hotel room keurig and still make it to the park for early entry.
no down time of getting up super early, traveling to the park, walking from city walk garage drop off area to the gate, before you can enter the park early.

2. forget something in your room, easy return to and from and back to the park.

3. doing water rides and have to take a change of clothes, rent a locker, bag, etc due to staying off site?
no issue when you stay onsite. do the water rides, return to rph and change.

4. no need to carry a bag in the park. stick the basics in your pocket and enjoy your day on the rides.

5. don't want to walk to the park, use the water taxi. 5 minutes and you are at the gates of ioa.

6. love the ride?
do it 3 times in a row with the express line perk for hotel guests.

7. need help, have an emergency??
the concierge in the lobby at rph will be there to assist you in all ways.
free for hotel guests.

8. like the morning paper?
let them know at hotel check in and it will be in front of the door each morning.

9. love pools? pool hop between the 3 hotels. changing facilities are at each hotel by the pool area.

10. character phone wake up service, priority seating at city walk restaurants, free package delivery to your rooms on purchases in the parks, choice of restaurants (4) at rph, turn down service at your request for your room, free internet in the lobby and pool area, pool activities and beverages around the pool based on the calendar, free dive in movies, free usage of pool toys if available, free character dinners at the hotels on certain nights, tight security for hotels, rooms and grounds to and from the park, star service provided free to all hotel guest in their rooms, 24 hour room service, business center on location, bell captain on premises 24 hours, unlimited usage of express lines in the park, park charging back to your hotel room, close proximenty to shopping and restaurants at city walk and cinema, first aide/medical availability at hotel when needed, are just a few reasons why i prefer staying onsite than offsite.

staying offsite will incur extra charges if you wanted what you can get for free as listed above.

last october i was staying at rph.
2 of the days it poured rain around noon time.
i was on the boat to return to the room soon after the rain started.

when i got off at the boat dock and when i entered the building to get the elevator, TM's were at both places to hand guests warm thick towels to dry themselves.

we were told to leave the towels in our room/tub and housekeeping would pick them up in the morning.

that nice touch is always appreciated by guests.

oh wow!

Make sure you stop in by the check-in counter for some yummy fruit punch. Ask at the front desk what time the conch ceremony is by the pool, it is really neat to watch the island dancers. The hot tubs are lovely when you come back from the park and want to soothe your tired feet. Eat at the Bula Bar...their hamburgers are delicious! And then finally enjoy the luxurious bedding and the comfy beds before you start all over again.

Oh and check out the pretty little post cards that are in the leather binder in your room. They are a cute and free souvenir or a nice way to say, "Neiner Neiner" to those back home.

You will LOVE the resort. We're about to leave on our second trip in 9 months, we loved it so much we booked a return trip as soon as we came home.:goodvibes

Enjoy the Keurig coffee in your room.

the conch ceremonies are held on saturdays.
it's either 6 or 6:30 located by the building near the pool.

You made a very smart decision! Imagine if you brought home bed bugs... they get into everything- bedding, furniture, clothing, which either have to be treated or destroyed  I wouldn't have taken the risk.

As the other posters have said, staying on-site is a real treat. Enjoy!

You made a good choice. I work at a pest control co. and believe me you DONOT want bed bugs and that budget motel may end up costing you way more if you bring them home and have to have your home treated.:thumbsup2
