I hate my current job with a passion. I finally started looking for something else about 6-8 weeks ago. I've had a few interviews that I thought went pretty good and then didn't get the job. I had an interview last week with a large university/hospital. It was a job I really wanted with an excellent institution.

The interview itself was so different from any other I've ever had. In my eyes, it just didn't seem to go well at all. I thought I had blown my opportunity. She had told me that she was interviewing 11 candidates and would be calling about 3 back for second interviews. I was so disheartened by the way it went that I didn't bother sending a thank-you letter.

Lo and behold, I got a call about an hour ago wanting to schedule a 2nd interview for next week. I couldn't believe it. I know it was because of all the prayers me and my family have been praying. I know it's just a 2nd interview, but I have a chance to redeem myself (in my eyes anyway). Trust me, that thank-you letter will emailed to her immediately after the interview. Please send me lots of prayers and pixie dust. You just don't understand my current work environment.

Congrats!!!!! Isn't that always the way it goes? You think you did great and get nothing, and when you think you flopped you get that call. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I just sent in an application for what very well might be my dream job. I'm happy with the job I have now but I always keep my eyes open. I emailed the application this morning and I am so nervous, it's silly really.

Believe me I understand where you ar ecoming from!!! I went through the same thing with my last position. In order to get away from there I intereviewed with several places. There were a few interviews with one place that went great but I didn't get the position. My first interview with the next place didn't go well (at least I thought). I ended up getting another interview and eventually the position. I have now been with this company for 8 years and I  my job/career!

Best of luck to you :wizard: I hope you find something that makes you happy!

Here's a 4-leaf clover, for good luck. I hope you get the job! :thumbsup2

How exciting! I hope the 2nd interview goes more smoothly for you. Good Luck. :wizard:

I once showed up on the WRONG DAY for a second interview for a job I really, really wanted. I was furious with myself, but I guess I handled myself well enough on the right day and ended up getting the job.

That's so sweet. I love the picture. Nobody has ever given me a 4-leaf clover before. Thank you!

Good luck!

I will say that we're desperate for good workers in B'ham. I've had a position open for 4 mos... making good money and haven't had any decent applicants. Unemployment rate is very, very low here.

Good for you!! Good luck w/the second interview and I hope you get the job!!

Funny thing is that Daxx had a job interview w/a *major* national insurance company and thought he blew the interview. Most of the "interview" wasn't an interview, but more like skills testing (reading comprehension, grammar and finally computer skills and taking info. from a phone call and inputting it into various screens on the computer). But, they asked him back for a 2nd interview!!! He was totally amazed b/c he said he thought he bombed the computer part so badly that he was going to just walk out the door!!!! I told him that maybe it was a test on how well you could handle pressure!

Maybe there's something about *thinking* you blew the interview that gets you moved right along!??!

Good luck on your 2nd interview. :cheer2:

OT: Pug, what part of b'ham are you in? And what kind of position do you have open?

I've been looking for a job for the past month (just got hired yesterday though! :) ), and the first interview I went on went so well, the interviewer glowed over me, so I thought for sure she'd call me back with an offer. Well good thing I didn't hold my breath waiting for her to call. lol

Last week I went on interview #3. It went fairly well, but at the very end I asked one of the interviewers when she was due (she was quite pregnant). She said "I have another 5 weeks". I replied in a friendly but sarcastic tone "Oh those last few weeks are so FUN!". As I walked out I realized how totally INAPPROPRIATE it was for me to even mention her pregnancy!!! I thought for sure they'd be turned off by that and not call me back. Well this is the job I was offered yesterday! LOL

So you just never know with interviews, even when you think they've gone extremely well, or when you think you've blown it. I hope you get the job! :teeth:
