I blinked and the space shuttle tickets were gone!

Whoa - Tickets for the August 28 space shuttle launch went on sale at 9am EST this morning. By one minute after 9, as I was hitting "enter" on my credit card purchase of entry tickets and transportation access, the screen "refreshed" itself to say ALREADY SOLD OUT! I knew I shouldn't have taken that extra second to buy the guide book too!

I was able to get the tickets for general entry into the KSC on that day, but no special transportation to the launch site.

Do they always sell out so fast?! Are there ever any cancellations or more tickets made available - should I bother to check back or just take what I've been able to get?

Any idea how much time we should allow to get from Disney BC to the KSC on that day? The launch is at 4pm, but we would want get there early in the day to try to take in some of the attractions as well, and I've heard traffic can be bad on launch days.

(Oh, and I assume that if the launch does not take place on that day, the tickets I bought will still get me into the KSC on that day, with all the access to the site that would be offered under a typical "all access" ticket. Can anyone confirm?)

Wow, that is crazy!!! I don't have an answer- but I wish you luck in getting more tickets.

Gator Tours usually offers tickets with roundtrip transportation from Orlando on launch days. Their tickets usually don't sell out that quickly. I know I was selling them the day before the last launch with no problem.

Yep, you will still the maximum access admission on that day.

We are thinking of trying to get tickets to the launch viewing area if the dates hold right for our next trip.

Anyone know if it's better to call for the tickets or is internet really the best way?

Do they always go on sale at 9am? I got the e-mail for this launch WAY after 12 noon so if that's when they go on sale, then I should know that.

Please remember that you only get a launch window and even that sometimes changes. The launch window WAS, until yesterday, Aug 28 through Sept 14. But yesterday it changed to AUg 27....I was invited (through a friend) to the launch by one of the astronauts, Joe Turner and I think they get 'insider info' (esp as he is flying on this one.)

I'm planning on flying in on the 26th and planning on the 27 launch day.
If that happens, we'll spend that night at Cocoa Beach or Titusville, because I've heard that sometimes there is a 4 hour traffic delay in getting there. (This is unconfirmed rumor mind you). Since the launch is slated for the afternoon, I think it might be ok to drive over in the morning...but don't quote me

We got to see a shuttle launch from the causeway about 17 years ago...It was way cool! I'm really excited to be invited to this one....and since I was already booked into Disney from Sept 4-11, I'm pretty sure that I'll get to see it, even if it is delayed.

Good luck to you....I've heard it is pretty to watch it veer out over the water from Cocoa Beach, altho you can't see the actual take off.

We were going to go to KSC on our trip, but now I am thinking we should reconsider....We have 4 small kids, and my sister, and my nephew coming. Do they sell tickets for the same price on the website, at the gate? One less thing I would need to purchase...

Thanks...Any opinions would be great too. I just dont want to sit in traffic with the kids, and then fight big crowds to see the attractions.
