I had been dying for it for two days. I couldn't shake the need. I tried with water, nuts, cheese. Nothing worked. I had to do it. I was helpless against its power.

Floridian cake.............chocolate cake, chocolate mousse, orange mousse, and orange glaze.

I was good. But, I don't know why this happened. I truthfully couldn't shake it. I took dd after she got done with school over to the fancy dessert place. She and I shared the piece, but I really ate almost all of the piece.

I am hoping that I am not going down a bad road here. Please help to keep me on track...............:confused: :confused:
 
You know, eating something with carbs on occasion is not a criminal offense. It sounds like it was yummy!

However, are you worried that you're headed for a major binge??
 
omg....I know how you feel. I "let go" for the first time since June over Christmas and New Years. I really struggled with the psychological effects of eating sugar!
I know after I reach goal, I will allow myself the occasional treat. I am concerned because I am an emotional eater. AND once I went "off" plan, I find it easier to "cheat". It is very hard for me to find that gray area, and feel happy about it.
I would suggest looking at why you felt you needed the cake. I realized why I eat wrong. Mostly for convenience, and also out of emotional upset. Once I have identified those occurances, I find it easier to resist and walk away.
Try not to beat yourself up, tomorrow is another day...keep up the great work, you came here, didn't you?? You have done great, and you can do this!!::yes::
 
Here is a recommendation for those times when you are presented with an overwhelming desire for a dessert like that: Try the "three bite" technique. Take only three bites and eat each one very slowly. You may find that it satifies the craving. Send the rest away with the next passing waiter.

I am now being punished for the cake. I have the most unbelievable neausea. I haven't felt this sick in quite a while. I know it is cake-related.
 
A, I truly hope you're feeling better soon. Don't beat yourself up over this one indulgence. You'll be back on track tomorrow.

Must be ppl following urges week here. I don't see where 1 piece of cake would be so bad since you haven't had any in a long while. I probably would have ordered something a bit less decadent than you did though. You might be having the nausea because your body is no longer used to having something that rich. As for the craving itself, they come when they want and some go on their own, some don't. Sometimes, they just can't be ignored.

Don't beat yourself up over it. Just go back to your regular plan in the morning and i hope your nausea goes away quickly.

I know this perhaps won't make you feel better but please remember we are all human and sometimes no matter how committed we are to a healthier lifestyle, there are times when we are going to crave the unhealthy things.

You are doing really well and hopefully this will just be a minor blimp on the road to a healthier you.

I usually find it helpfull if a minor blimp turns into a major one to try and work out why I am doing it.

Don't beat yourself up over one piece of cake. Look at the big picture, you're doing so well. One piece of cake doesn't mean that you're going down a bad track. Just get right back OP and you'll be fine ::yes::

When I am having a craving for something sweet I usually get a WW dessert and that satisfies my cravings!
 
I agree, don't beat yourself up over it...today is a new day and you are back on track, right? :)

You are doing fine and we have all been there before!! :) It's a new day!! :)
 
Hey, don't beat yourself up. This is why I have problems with VERY STRICT eating habits such as Atkins, it doesn't really allow for the little cheats (which there is nothing wrong with by the way).

And please don't begin to look at food as good or bad. I always say this, but will repeat myself once again :o There are no good or bad foods there are simply better choices. I say this because when you start assigning foods as good or bad, then you add in the guilt factor, which can just really throw you for a loop. Moderation is the key. You had one piece. It tasted good too. Now if you ate that and didn't get to enjoy it because you were thinking how "BAD" it was, then what was the point? You shouldn't feel guilty.

Just don't let it turn into a major binge, which I doubt will happen since you know that was just a little cheat, and there is nothing wrong with that. ;) :D
 
I know how you feel. I had a piece of birthday cake two weeks ago. I do low carb also. I had a terrible headache the next day. The same thing happened when I had half a glass of soda once. I just think your body can't handle that much sugar at once any more. One good thing is you'll remember that feeling for a while and you won't want any cake. :D
 
I think one thing we all need to realize is that this way of eating is a way of life. And in life we are going to have to eat cake every now and then. Don't beat yourself up over it.
