and she is SOOOOOOOO skinny.....does she eat her own food ever...

seriously....she looks really bony thin.....sad.

I like watching Ina Garten....at least I know she eats;)

Love Giada too...but seriously...how does she stay so thin and cook such good food:goodvibes

:). My grandparents watch Food Network, & grandpa says he doesn't think Sandra's or Giada's food can be any good since they're so skinny. :)

I like watching Sandra, but I have to say that the tablescapes sometimes drive me nuts. I know it's for special occassions, but come on!

For some reason Sandra just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe because I picture her to be secretly obessive. I hate how her kitchen always appears to be re-decorated to make the theme, but maybe that's just me.

I understand the theme is "Semi-homemade" but when I saw the receipe for blue cheese dip, which was blue cheese salad dressing with a touch of sour cream. I really thought "Duh"

But, to address your post, I'm sure she doesn't eat her eat. I beleive they have what is known as a "spit bucket" that the stars get rid of whatever was put in their mouths

I always asked myself that about Giada, I love her food, but I think it all goes to that head of hers.....way to big for her body.
She's a toothpick.

I don't usually watch the Sandra show because I don't like the white kitchen with the changing matchy colors and all that. there is no appeal on this show for me....
but I don't feel welll today and the food network is a good standby for laying on the couch;)

I have tried a few of Giada's recipies and they are good !!!

personally....Paula Deen has my heart:goodvibes

Sandra Lee has had a very hard upbringing. I have her book about her childhood on a waiting list at the library. I wouldn't be surprised if it is linked to that somehow...

I like her show, I get some good ideas that come off of hers. I love her table scapes, but even for someone NOT on a budget (definately not me:goodvibes), they're crazy! Where would you even put all that stuff once you bought it?? :)

I can't watch the Sandra Lee show anymore. Semi-homemade is way too expensive and over the top. The tablescapes? Really, first finding the stuff, then buying it, then decorating, who has that kind of time or energy. Sandra gets tooo excited about cocktail time. :rotfl2:

Giada? Big head, big teeth, big hair, much too thin. Ever notice when she does eat, though, she chews with her mouth open? It makes me ill. But, I do enjoy the show and get some fab ideas from her.

Paula Dean, Y'all, I can't stomach that woman. :rolleyes1:mad: :headache: she is y'all the most y'all annoying y'all person y'all on y'all all y'all of y'all tv. I can't get through 2 minutes of it. I think her 'problems' went quite a bit deeper.

Ina Garten - do you know her husband, Jeffery? :woohoo::eek: At least she looks like she likes what she makes.

Rachel Ray - ARGH!!!! She makes verbs out of everything. Major pet peeve for me. Chunk it up...... oh just shut up! Won't watch it or her dumb talk show either.

Sandra Lee has had a rough upbringing. Her parents were both very ill and I think she was raised by her aunt. She basically had to be the mom to her younger sister. (If you give me a minute I can Google her for you.) As for her being so skinny? I believe the alcohol has everything to do with that. She does seem to like her cocktails! Her recipies sound gross to me, but I highly doubt FN would provide a spit bucket for her.

Giada - I agree - big bobble head. Her food looks good, though. I don't think I've tried any of her recipes yet.

Paula - used to love her but I can't stomach her any more. She comes across as a dirty old lady to me. Have you ever eaten her food? I've eaten at her place in Tunica. Granted, it's buffet food. But I've never been able to get through a meal there without having to use the facilities, if you KWIM. Everything is too rich and greasy. Luckily I can lighten up some of the more offensive recipesin her cookbooks. (Yes, I have three)

I'll tell you what else bugs me about SL. She always wears these pretty, flowy, white clothes. She is opening cans of spaghetti sauce, stirring greasy pans, etc. Yet her clothes always look clean. I just don't believe it. I figure she has four of the same outfit and continually puts on a clean one. I hate it.

This whole thread has me laughing, but especially this post. Is Ina married? She never mentioned. :lmao: As soon as I hear, "Hey y'all..." I turn the channel. I have never watched a single one of Paula's shows.

We now have a new cooking channel and I've been watching Nigella. I like her. Of all of the FN recipes I've actually tried, Ina's are by far the best.

You're right about that. I'd be covered in red gravy if I just looked at the pot.

Did you know that she is the inventor of those plastic valance things that were so popular in the 80's?( The ones that you stuff the fabric of choice into, add a little toilet paper, and Voila!) She originally wanted to do a home decorating show but they didn't want her for that. The only way she agreed to be on FN is if she could do her set designs every week and her beloved table scapes.

I know WAY too much about this woman. I haven't even Googled her yet!!

From Wikipedia:

Early life
Sandra Lee was born July 3, 1966 in Los Angeles to teenage parents. By the age of two, Sandra and her one-year-old sister, Cindy, lived with their paternal grandmother, Lorraine. By 1972 her parents had divorced and her mother remarried moving them to Sumner, Washington. At age 11 her mother divorced for a second time and became depressed and very ill. Sandra then took on the role of mom to her five younger siblings. Her responsibilities included buying groceries, preparing the meals, and handling the family finances.[2][3][4]

[edit] Career
In the early 1990s, Lee created a product called "Kurtain Kraft", a home decorating tool using a wire rack and sheets or other fabric samples to create the appearance of decorative drapery. The product was sold on infomercials and cable shopping networks.[5] Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee premiered on the Food Network in 2003. Each episode contains an arts and crafts element, in which Lee decorates the table setting in accordance with the theme of the meal that she just prepared. She refers to these as "tablescapes". Lee's second Food Network series, Sandra's Money Saving Meals, began airing on May 10, 2009.[6] She has released 16 books, many of them New York Times bestsellers.[7] A magazine based on her show, "Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade," was released in 2009.[8] Her memoir, Made From Scratch, was released November 6, 2007.[9]

In 2009 she received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Hairstyling.[10]

Lee's official Food Network bio states that "Lee then attended the world's leading culinary art institute, Le Cordon Bleu."[11] Lee enrolled in a recreational two-week course at the school's Ottawa outpost, which she acknowledges that she did not complete.[12]

I have to admit that I truly do love the way SL does her tablescapes.:lovestruc:
I just dont see how the food would fit on the table, but boy does it look pretty.
As to Paula, my DH would marry her. She would hypnotize him with her food.
:)

Some of Sandra's recipes are decent, but Ina's are always a hit in this house. Yeah, everything starts with two sticks of butter, but it's so good.

If you watch Giada, she uses those tiny, tiny plates to taste a sample of her food. She has said in the past she eats pretty healthy, but that little plate is typically all she allows herself as a serving.

Paula is so much like my MIL (once she is not tired and warmed up). The accent, mannerisims, and sound of voice are sooo similar it is scary. On a side note, I had my rehersal dinner at Paula's restraunt "The Lady & Sons" right before her show took off. When we stopped by the restraunt to inquire about holding our rehersal dinner there, she was so excited. She brought us over to a table (me, the hubster, my mom, my MIL and FIL) and told us all about how she had started filming her show and what it was like. She had a waitress serve us tea and johnnycakes (you get them at the restraunt along with biscuits). She was maticulous abotu every detail, and when my MIL called askign questions, Paula would always call back. The dinner was fabulous and the staff was great. A few years later, she moved her restraunt to another building a block away. By coincidence, it was the same building my father worked in when I moved to Savannah as a child.

I love Ina. When I first discovered her, I thought she was sooo much better than Martha Stewart. I used to work at B&N and we always had staff book picks. In my review of Ina's cookbook, I wrote somethign about her meals not coming off as standoffish as MS. Well, if I had opened the random Ina cookbook I had selected, i would have read the Introduction in which she wrote that she and Martha are good friends.....ooops. Anyway, it was from Ina that I learned how to roast a chicken.

I love Rachel Ray. The hubster and I had a dinnertime tradition of sitting down on the couch with dinner (before kids) and watching RR as we ate. The hubster is an extremely picky eater (has gotten better over the years), and it really helped for him to watch cooking shows to expand his tastes. If he can see it being made and what goes in it then that helps. But yet, there are still some restraunts at Disney I want to try, but know that he will have a hard time. Our first visit to O'hana was last year, and even then it was a hard sell......now it's one of his faves.

Sandra Lee cracks me up with her tablescapes and her cocktail hour....seriously, who has that much time and money to make a "tablescape"?? LOL!:lmao:
I like watching Ina Garten and of course Paula Deen - all that butter:scared1:

Your post made me :rotfl::rotfl2: Too funny! I agree as well, too skinny they don't eat it and Giadda just annoys the stew out of me!

I watched a behind the scences episode of hers, and she walked us through the show. first she picks the theme of the meal, then she picks the coctail. Then she designs the kitchen window curtian, then the tablescape. Then the menu comes last. But hey, she is woman with her priorities straight!! :thumbsup2
