Hi
I am totally lost, can anyone help me?
I have never done the AP thing before. I realise that its possible to get a discount on your room with an AP.
I am thinking of buying one and trying to get a better room rate for the contemporary from 28 Aug-1 Sept.
Please could you tell me what I need to do exactly. Step by step would be great! :)
I am also thinking about booking reservations for dinner/breakfast for the 4 days were there, would you make a list of where you want to go and just ask if theres availability for any on those days, or do I just have no chance at this late stage? 7 weeks away!!
I am scared of making a total mess when I phone up, so just need someones help to guide me in the right direction to get the best price.
Thankyou.

If you are getting the AP no matter if you can get a discounted room then call and get the AP (voucher mailed if you do not want to pick it up before checking in). The AP staff can help or direct you for the rest of your needs.

If getting the AP is contingent on using it for a room then just call CRO and check to see availability of AP rooms. If they are available you can book them without the AP and just show your AP or Voucher when you check in.

Note: This is free dining time so I would not expect much ADR availability.

Also the general public discounts are also out for this time so there may be some availability that way also.

AP is only really effective if you are staying more than 10 days during the next 12 months unless the discounts justify it otherwise. Only the room booker needs to have and AP anyone else can have standard MYW tickets of one of the special UK tickets.

I just checked AP rates online and the only thing they were showing available was a Tower/Theme park view for $329 per night (before tax) and that was 8/28-9/02 (when I checked 9/01 it showed nothing available -- so you'd have to reserve it thru the 2nd and then call back and drop a night).

I don't know how that compares to what you've got now...but if it is a better rate, just call and explain that you don't have an AP yet but will be purchasing one when you get there and try to apply the discount to your existing resv. Good Luck!

I looked on Disneys site and a theme park view was $410 per night. inc tax.
How much is tax on top of that price you gave me?
I dont have the annual pass yet. Am I able to look on Disneys site through the annual pass part without a code, or do I have to wait til I buy one?

Room tax runs about 12%. Yes, you have to have an existing AP to access that section of the website. Is there something else you'd like me to check for you?

So that's still cheaper than booking online without an AP.
Right ok, so I couldnt do to the 1st September but could book through to the 2nd ?
I shall give them a call.
Other benefits include free parking, discounted meals, but is there any discount on merchandise as well?
Just trying to sum up whether the AP would be worth it, but it looks like it will.
I am only doing 4 nights in WDW, but doing 2 weeks in a villa before that. We will be visting the parks, with a visit to MK on the first day. I believe the MYW tickets expire after 10 days (assuming we buy 10 day tickets). That would mean I would have to purchase tickets again when we stay in WDW.
Maybe I will be as well holding out as long as possible before visiting Disney. That will be hard. I will be itching to go.

Thank you so much for checking those prices out. I will give Disney a call and see what I can get.

I just checked and your dates are available @ the Poly in a garden view room for $264/nt (regular rate is $340, and other categories were available) using a general public code...so you wouldn't have to go to the expense of an AP. Also the MYW tickets expire *14* days after they are activated -- so that might help you out as well.

Also, the same nights I posted earlier (8/28-9/02) are available @ CR for $334 using the general public code -- so having an AP only saves $5 more per night. I really thought the AP discount was better than that! And, like I said all you'd have to do is book online thru the 2nd, but then call CRO a few days later and tell them you like to drop a night and check out on the 1st instead. It won't take away your discount, it will just remove one night from the reservation. Just make sure you do it at least 45 days before check-in to avoid any change fees.

Would you mind checking the GF for me? Poly sounds appealing. It looked nice last time we had dinner there at O'Hana.
I was thinking that if we still bought the AP we would get discounts on other things like parking, dinner, & merchandise?

So a 10 day ticket expres 14 days after first use? thats not too bad then.
What is the general public code for room discounts?

Garden view @ GF is $309/nt (regular rate is $385). That was the general public code (DDI).

I think DDI is for internet booking only, and DDH is for call-in reservations.

AP rate was $304.

All tickets expire 14 days after first use, unless you add the non-expiring option. I wouldn't buy a 10-day expiring ticket unless you plan to spend 10 days at WDW. The additional days after 5 are only a few dollars more per day, but why pay for 10 if you'll only use 5?

There is another thread on the board right now that lists Animal Kingdom Lodge for $149 for your dates on Expedia. It makes me wish I were going then for the "Fall Savings".

This is all so confusing. Where do you get the codes and how do you decide ahead of time whether to get an AP or not. We are planning a 15night trip in Aug 2009. there will be six of us and we want to stay at pop so i know we need 2 rooms. I have a disney reward card, AAA membership and my little sister's husband is military.

I just booked CR (theme park view) at a rate of $354 per night plus tax (is that 12%?) on an AP. This is much higher than quoted the other day on here. Would someone mind checking through the AP part of disneys site just to see if I really did make a saving on an AP rate I was given. (dates 28 Aug to 2 Sept).
Thankyou :)

If anyone knows of any good deals at other deluxe resorts for those dates (actually I am only staying 28 Aug to 1st Sept, I just had to book 5 nights instead of 4 at CR to get availability.) Could you let me know? Thankyou :)

Now...you do realize you can call and cancel the 5th night you don't need, right? All it takes is a phone call but make sure you do it now instead of waiting to make sure it is done 45 days prior to check-in to avoid any change fees.
