I am leaving for a 'solo' trip to WDW on Wednesday morning. It is 'solo' in that I am not taking any members of my family, but I expect to meet about 30 people from the DIS boards while I am there. I have not been away from my family for recreational purposes since before I had kids... sure, there were a couple of conferences, funerals, that sort of thing. But this is the first time I have gone off just to have fun and take care of myself for a few days! Nobody to chase, change, feed, clean up after, restrain... Long overdue. Do I need a vacation!!!

There will be lots of other people there from the DIS, and as a matter of fact at least 4 of the people I will be seeing there are also mothers of special needs kids taking a break... plus a few of us who are dealing with chronic illnesses as well. My poor, deprived children will get a chance to go to Disneyland at the end of the month, so I don't feel toooooo guilty! :)

Have a wonderful trip, you deserve it. I am always amazed at how much you do with and for your children. Getting a respite is great for all of you.
I can't wait to hear about the trip.

Wow, have fun. Hope you come back really respited. And don't worry too much about your "poor deprived kids". I'm sure they will not miss a few days of mothering all that much.P

Teri, you deserve the break. Here's hoping it's a relaxing and refreshing one. Have a great time!

And very very happy for you!!! I once got to visit my sister for 2 whole days with no DH or kids. It was like being reborn. Two summers ago DH and I went to NYC for 3 nights - no kids.

When we were kid-less I really missed them for about the first 1/2 hour... after that, I really got into relaxing.

BUT - nothing beats being alone for a while. I would walk around just waving my arms in the air - empty for a change!!! I hope you enjoy every moment.

You know, I said above that nothing beats being alone for awhile - but actually one thing does. Coming home after being alone for a while. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and revitalizes the tired caregiver.

Say hi to Dan for me! (Tell him I'm the Indians Fan.) have fun, dearie!
